I have stayed at this hotel in numerous occasions and think its a good location . The front staff at the initial check in were the rudest staff I have ever met.I felt in this occasion they were despicable.I would therefore think very carefully before staying there again !
the fact that is in the centre of NY rooms are very small and avg 200 $/night is too much
the New Yorker hotel is in a perfect location for visiting and shopping and we really appreciate this. Maybe the difference of price according to the days of staying. they should make a special offer for those like us who stayed for an entire week.

The only thing we liked about the hotel was the location. The rooms were very small and filthy dirty. The staff was really rude. It was difficult to understand the English of the people working at the front desk and some of them were nasty.
The location is perfect for shopping and sighseeing. Hotel has 2 restaurants serving good quality food. It has a spacious lobby with fast check in and out facilities. It offers security safes at no charge. Security is very strict in the lobby before you enter elevators which makes female travellers feel very safe. There are lots of really good restaurants nearby in 7th Avenue and en route to Times Square. I loved everything about the New Yorker. There is nothing bad about this hotel.
We had a small suite and the room was very spacious, unlike many other NYC hotels. The bedding was not as luxurious as I would have liked. I could have used an extra blanket or two.
Location, rooms are comfy , free internet My mother's shoes were stolen, Along with my nephew's (2 and 1/2 yo) pillow and toys. The shoes were inside a suitcase the entire time which makes the case even worse. We complained at the front desk, but the staff were unapologetic and did nothing to solve the issue.
We appreciated the entire stay. It was quiet, friendly staff, clean, accomodating, close to subway. Good food . We had to leave. We have recommended it to others and will be back.
Clean rooms, Small rooms
The room was spacious for NYC standards and very clean and well kept. The furnishings were modern and kept up to date. The staff was friendly and accommodating. We enjoyed our stay. It would have been nice to have a refrigerator in the room to keep our water, wine and cheese cold.

Nice interior All staff Ive come across felt like security. They dont respond to greetings. When they selectively ask to see your room keycard to enter the hotel and you see the people in front of you stroll right in while you get "carded" almost everytime...Im a well groomed mid 20's asian business man on vacation what more do you want? And in the heart of korea-town no less! I avoided the staff for the rest of my stay due to their less than friendly disposition and most times they seemed too busy to talk to you because they are allll on their phones textingg! Mainly speaking of night staff. For such a historic Landmark of a Hotel the staff certainly takes away from its authenticity,beauty and glamour. As far as the rooms go everthing seemed fairly clean and nice. Only issue was the brown water I had to shower in and the air condition wasnt working the first day but their engineering staff promptly fixed the A/C unit.
Nothing I liked. Worst costumer service!! Front desk guests service were so rude. My room was already paid and booked for but still had to wait two hours just to get my room!
Friendly and accommodating staff! Loved that everyone was there willing to help. Also liked the security of staff checking to make sure that all guests coming into the hotel were in fact supposed to be there. Didn't like that there wasn't a fridge and/or microwave in the room given the price. Room was very nice but for the price I would've expected at least a fridge.

Location was good, not a superior room. Hotel offered a 30% dicount we paid over $200 a night not happy about paying the higher price. Told that I could not get the discount as I had booked through Booking.com Do they have any superior rooms as booked? Very poor quality of rooms offered. From some of the reviews I expected better.

Nothing Everything, poor service, not clean, there was hair in the bath, a mouse in my room, rooms need updating. Cues to check in are rediculous. I can honestly say this is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in and will never go again or recommend to anyone. The only positive is the location, and to be honest I would rather stay further out and get a taxi into the city than stay here again
I loved the position of the hotel and the comfort of the bed. That's all you needed really , it wasn't a big room but you knew That going in , the water was hot for such a big hotel and Whenever l needed help from reception etc it was not a problem. Didn't find the wifi coverage very good.

Everything was perfect
My husband and I were traveling with our 2 adult children and their traveling companions, so we booked 3 rooms. All rooms were spacious and comfortable. Decor was trendy, with high end amenities. We loved the rooftop bar and had a great meal at the attached restaurant. Location was perfect. Overall, a great stay. Some of the furniture in the room was showing some wear. And the desk chair was the only chair in the room. Also, the closet was very small. Not enough space to hang our clothes and coats.

we were checked in really quick . breakfast was enjoyable . staff at reception were realy helpful in directions and questions . dinner was very good in the evening and brendan bar was very enjoyable bar to drink in. but location location location ,would not be beaten heating system was noisy and lifts slow during busy times.but not bad enough to put us off staying here in the future
Very nice staff 206 should be a storage closet! Nestled between two fire doors, starting at 4am, the two fire doors slam prohibiting any sleep!!
It's a nice modern boutique feeling hotel. Staff was nice. After a night of jack hammering (location issue more than their fault) there was no hot water at all in the morning. They refunded a portion of my bill but it was brutal. They should consider also soundproofing the Windows more.
Location Rooms on 12th floor could be updated
Perfect location, just a few steps from major stores and 15 min walk to Times Square. Friendly staff. Clean rooms. Just two elevators. For some rooms you could not control the heating, just the cooling air.
The most comfortable bed I have ever slept in. Room was cold in November, as heat had not been turned on.

The front desk staff was excellent. The linens were very nice. Blow dryer didn't work. Called housekeeping for clean towels and replacement blow dryer. Waited an hour. Never showed up. Later they cleaned room and left clean towels but no washcloths. It has potential just have not worked out all the kinks yet.
When I first got to hotel to check in I was informed that the room I reserved was not available and that I never booked the king room. But this not true I had my confirmation number and the reservation saved on my phone. So she put me in a queen room and charge me 461.00 but the deal I reserved was for only 261.00. So when I check out I was told that 200.00 would go back in my bank but it still hasn't. So I will never book through kayak again. I was robbed 200 dollars and was giving wrong room.

I'm not one to write travel reviews but I had such an incredible experience here I felt the need to share! Came here for a staycation (roommates, amirite?) slash birthday celebration and our choice could't have been more perfect. In a word, this spot is snazzy. The decor, fixtures and furnishings are reminiscent of the Prohibition/speakeasy era with a modern, chic twist. Just by standing in the lobby you instantly feel a little more immersed in something cool and vibrant. There is a palpable sense of imminent adventure and intrigue here, definitely a boon to kick off your New York City escapade. Inspiration is abundant here! The rooms are immaculately clean, chic and quiet. Bed is ridiculously comfortable and also features hidden storage drawers, so be sure to check under the huge fluffy down comforters they're topped with! There truly aren't enough adjectives to describe just how accommodating and incredible the staff here is. So friendly! Everyone here is a paragon of guest services for competing establishments to emulate. If you're looking for a stylish, urbane backdrop with ubercool yet welcoming vibe to your Gotham City foray, book with confidence at Archer, it is truly a stay to remember! Check out is at 11, not 12. Only downside to this hotel, otherwise it is magnificent.
Beautiful property, well thought out rooms, great amenities and attention to detail. They need to iron out a lot of issues - the hotel is super new so they likely will. Room service is expensive, not very good & delivered in cheap take out containers. Very slow internet - borderline unusable if you're a business traveler. Staff nice and polite but very impersonal,
The staff was very friendly and professional. The even remembered us the next day. Evan was wonderful, positive and up beat. Everyone was very helpful, even moved us when our AC was malfunctioning. Rooms were kind of small but then we were in the a limited amount of space as far as the city was concerned.
Clean, elegant rooms, comfortable bed, great shower. Hallway noise came through the door easily.
Decor was great, rooms were clean and mini bar was stocked with great snacks at reasonable prices ($2 per soda). Rooms were small but this isn't unheard of for Manhattan.
Staff was courteous and friendly. Room and bath were clean. Goodies were on the nightstand every evening when the bed was turned down. We walked and took the subway to where we wanted to go. All directions were precise. Subway was 2 blocks We would stay here again.

Brilliant location. Value given breakfast was included into price. Very friendly and efficient service. Clean and modern rooms. iPod charger in the room. The air conditioning was a little bit noisy. The rooms were a bit warm at night.

Actually, we were moved to the Park South Location because the Strand was not finished renovations yet. No parking, and when we parked in the recommended lot 2 blocks away, we did not get any discount.

Staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel restaurant was not open and we were not told that prior to our arrival. There was no room service, no refrigerator in room and no mini bar. This was quite inconvenient.
Location Slow elevator
The room was a very good value for the price, very clean, great staff, comfortable, great location, rooftop bar has an amazing view, good drink selection with low drink prices and just a cool little spot. There was noisy construction next door going on 24 hours a day, the breakfast less than I expected and a continental breakfast not a hot breakfast.
The staff was very polite or at least the people I had a chance to talk to. The bed was very comfortable and the room overall was clean.
I liked that there was a fitness center but it was a little run down and the TV remote was missing.

Everything was great
Located on a quiet side street but still within walking distance to many attractions. Plenty of subway stops within a block or two that will take you to any destination you want. Staff was super friendly and inviting. Bed was comfortable and bathroom was clean. Close to Megabus drop-off location. Room was bigger than I thought it would be given the location. There was an iron and hairdryer in the room, but no mini fridge (which wasn't necessary for our short stay). There are some things out of the control of the hotel; construction around the area and trash left in the street for city pickup didn't make walking for the most pleasant walking experience. There were coffee stains on the nightstand lampshade and the carpet could use a good cleaning or replacement. Not sure what the parking situation is as we took the bus.
The staff was very friendly. I arrived several hours before check in and was allowed to drop my bags off. Room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Lobby was unusually small. Hotel only had two elevator shafts for 25+ floors and at one point both of them were broken.
I enjoyed my stay there, I liked receiving a cookie upon arrival. It was supposed to be a king size room, but was just a queen size bed.
Great location! We were a short walk to a metro station, Highline and empire state building. Great food options nearby. Room was clean, although small. Kids had a great time. And they loved getting a cookie everyday! We also had a view of the one world trade center. There wasn't a fridge, which would have been helpful, but the room was small, so I can see how they couldn't fit it in.

Staff was excellent. Bar was golden after we got to the hotel from both exploring and enyoing the city. Concierge was great! Plenty of places around to eat including the hotel. Nice view with a glimpse of the Empire from our room. Rooms were clean, a little cramped, but its NYC. The staff (maids) tends to be forgetful about simple items like toilet paper or anything to stir coffee with! Location its a mix, depending on the line needed. Sometimes we went to 34th ST in order to get some other line.

I have stayed at the Tryp several times (perhaps 8-10x) over the past few years. Overall, the room size is good, price is good, nice little bar downstairs. Decent accommodations for the money. The staff was so horrible this time around. Just overall not accommodating. There was no hot water on the coldest day of the year. My husband took a freezing cold shower and the just put their hands up like oh well!
I didnt like anything about it. I reserve a room with 2 Queen Size bed when we get there it wasn't reserve for us awful experience the man in the front desk he suggest his going to look for another hotel but we were so tired we just need to relax.
Front desk was wonderful, just things beyond their control occurred. Shower in our room squirted from wall even after repair man tried to fix, had to change rooms, delay in getting extra towels from housekeeping--the biggest and most noticeable is the cleaning staff does not know how to properly clean a room, wood floors not swept in rooms and the space between glass showers and sink have never been cleaned--whole bars of used soap, hair ties, wrappers and etc in the space-- just totally gross-- room 306!! They really need a lesson in how to clean a room!!!
Close to subway stop A lot of noise in room hardwood floors and thin walls, makes for a noisy experience especially with the exit doors being slammed by housekeeping all day. Could hear full conversations in the rooms from neighbors
Great value! We had an enjoyable weekend visit to NYC with a group of friends. We stayed in a Premium Room with 2 Queen beds, and a pull-out sofa. It also had a mini-fridge and wet bar area. The room was huge, clean, and very comfortable with tons of windows. The location of the hotel was convenient to our weekend plans at MSG. Hotel lobby staff was friendly and helpful with restaurant recommendations. I would definitely stay at this hotel again, and would certainly recommend it to friends.

I was in town for a convention and found the location perfect. Staff was great which was a real plus given the small size of common area. The room was comfortable and I liked the wood floors. Rooms average to large size for NYC. Just want to commend the staff at the front desk, bell man, and breakfast staff all helpful and friendly. I think I saw a cast member from Law and Order staying at the hotel too. Better after hours food in the vending machines. It was out of colas at 9 on a Wednesday night, and limited snacks selection. It is NY so only had to walk a block to find what we wanted though. 35th is one way west and not cab friendly.
close to penn station I stayed for 4 nights. very loud and i'm talking about car trucks passing by it's people banging on trash cans and construction. The hotel is next door to a police station. room are good size but decor is modern cheap looking with dispensers for shampoo and body wash glued in the shower. I would not stay there again.
I like the new trend of wood floors, as used here. Seems cleaner. The rooms are very attractive, but less functional than others. The beds are very comfortable. There are lots of places to plug in devices (regular outlets and USB) in several places. Elevators are plentiful and efficient. Loved having a Keurig coffeemaker. I interacted little with staff, but all I encountered in the hallways were friendly. A little off the beaten track, which is good in the city. And right next to a police precinct, which made me feel extra safe. There was no drawer-storage in my room (the closet is elevated, so you can put things on the floor of that, plus belowe the closet are two cubbies - one with the iron/board and one with a safe, but not really convenient for clothing). There was no countertop space in the bathroom for cosmetics, etc. No minibar, which is a sign of 4* and up, to me. And all that is provided are paper coffee cups. Some people may like that they may be cleaner, but I like glass glasses, and ceramic cups. Since I brought a bottle of wine, I asked in the bar if I could have a wine glass to take to my room and the bartender said he wasn't allowed to give one to me. I had a problem turning my TV off with the remote (it would just come back on) and a late night call to the front desk was no help ("Just turn the volume all the way down.") I eventually found a power button on the TV, but the desk clerk should have suggested that. At check-in, the clerk was not unfriendly, but when he handed me my keycard, he didn't really explain anything about the facility (breakfast, etc.) like people usually do.
