location is fabulous, rooftop bar was very nice. the room was very small.
The rooms were cute. Not to small. Stayed here for New Year's Eve. Wanted a bucket of ice for the room so my wife and I could keep a bottle of champagne cold. They actually charged us $5 for the bucket of ice. Not even Motel 6 charges for ice. Room was also very hot and a lot of noise from the street and hallway. Bed hard and uncomfortable.
The service, room, restaurant, location were excellent.
The staff was really friendly and helpful. The hotel design and atmosphere were great. The bed was very uncomfortable - really hard. I stay at alot of boutique / pricey hotels and this was the worst bed I've had.
Location is great - the art is amazing and the roof top terrace restaurant/ bar is top
Room set up Very poor service! I had water & juice poured over me during breakfast with no apologies! Tea was served without tea cup! Bathroom light was out for one day and not replaced. Laundry list was not provided despite repeated requests.
the room and the position and the "edginess" of the hotel our first room (before we changed) only had a shower and not also a bath
Staff were very helpful and always on hand. The room quality was very high - the recent refurbishment has really focussed on top end materials and furnishings and for a hotel in central New York, the room was of a good size. Its central location in NYC is very helpful to get uptown or downtown and its situation gives an unusually peaceful night sleep in such a busy city. The roof garden was very nice, as were the bars, but some of the hotel claims are overdone. Cocktails are expensive by the time you add on service and tax.
Valet took >45 minutes after being told 10-15 (I allowed 20). Had to request iron, wastes time. Tub drain was fully clogged and GROSS so water did not drain. Shower vent grate was FULL of GROSS dust + mold. Noise outside from traffic, garbage trucks + roof party letting out kept us awake ALL NIGHT, absurd! Sounded like windows on Lex.ave. were open, but they weren't, they're just inadequate!
unique, great location - very little street noise.
Very Very cool. From a British viewpoint it is like Malmaison but taken to the next level and with the addition of 5 star service. The concierge are very good at getting you into those 'hard to book' restaurants. The private guests only rooftop bar is very nice.
Staff was helpful and attentive. Rooms were clean, light was good and so was having the outlets for devices. Great service of offering the small items one needs or my have forgotten like toothpaste and deodorant. Making this service known. Thanks Better food selection.
The location was superb. It was clean, quiet and very beautiful. None
I absolutely loved this hotel. The location is very good, there are some great places to eat around there. Having room service was excellent, Good bar that served excellent cocktails. Would definitely stay again. Conciege were extremley helpful.
The staff was friendly. The rooms were comfortable. The view was wonderful.
Loved the room, they had all points I require to be totally happy. Luxury, cleanliness, location, friendly staff. Super!! Will love to stay their again. Thanks for the opportunity to try them out.
The room was pretty clean, comfortable and nicely decorated. The room was noisy--I could hear people in the hall and the room next to me. It could have been cleaner but over all it was not bad. I di not like the food in the restaurant "Olive's" it was too salty.
The staff is extremely helpful and friendly. The rooms are large, comfortable and beautifully decorated. And the location is perfect.
Fantastic location with excellent staff, our room was fantastic we received a free upgrade on check in. Hotel bar and restaurant are well worth visiting, the local suway is a 2 minute walk away.
Good location. Some check in staff were terrific, some were condescending that I booked my room through kayak. I had to beg them to get my SPG preferred benefits. After I asked enough people, I got them, after hearing different stories about their policy.
atmostphere was really fun. great buzz about the place every night. evening meal is amazing. cant think of anything at all
Location is excellent and our room was very good. Hotel design is contemporary and modern. The door staff appeared disinterested in guests and there was generally a lack of friendly hospitality that you usually enjoy in the US. With the exception of the bar staff nobody smiled at us!
Everything. Manager, Chris was exceptional.
Loved this hotel. Friendly, helpful, small enough to not get lost in and just be a number. Food was excellent and service was helpful and immediate. Would stay here again definitely.
It had character There was a bar with a courtyard below my window, there was noise till 1:30 am. You could also hear the beds creaking!!!!
Afternoon tea, furnishings, nice staff. I could leave my luggage after check out until I picked it up late afternoon. No
It was very convenient to all the things we wanted to do. Small place with a friendly staff. I was able to park on the street all weekend. I expect to pay ~$300/night, but this wasn't up to the fee. The pillows are undersized by about 1/3. The room layout made it hard to get to the window side of the bed. There was no mini fridge. The nice rainfall shower head had no way for height-challenged people to change its position. The toilet seats are cheap plastic. No electric outlet on one side of the bed, inexcusable in the day of "I charge my phone while I sleep." The lighting scheme, involving use of your room card in a slot and a pad of push button switches, is inscrutable.
The hotel is affordable for New York City. It is clean, tidy and attractive. There are no extras, but the price is right.
Chelsea Inn is literally 50 feet from 5th ave in awesome walking distance to everything. great location. Having said that, our bathroom wasn't in our room, we had a separate key and a shared bathroom_ which was clean, just inconvenient, and after a full 7 hours of walking be prepared to climb some stairs because you might be on the 4th floor and there is no elevator :-)
I can highly recommend a stay at the Chelsea Inn. Lot's of stairs but a great room for a good price. Union square and Broadway is close by and you can easly walk to Little Italy or Chinatown! If you can't walk that many stairs this is not the hotel for you
The renovated rooms were very nice, however, they had been recently painted and the fumes were overwhelming, so I was transferred to one of the older, non-renovated rooms. Although the bed and furnishings were new (sheets, pillows and wall mounted TV, the walls (paint and plaster) and carpet were what you would expect in a no-tell motel. Also, most of the rooms "shared" a bathroom. Your bedroom had it's own door and you had to leave your room to go into a bathroom which was used by another room. It worked out fine. Still, it is a great value ($65/night booked in advance) for the location! There's a cute french cafe next to it for breakfast and you're never in the room (very small as most NYC hotel rooms) anyway. It was a 5 story walk-up building - no elevator. After looking at 2 rooms (one without a window! and both freshly painted/smelly) we were transferred to the 5th floor and it was a struggle getting the luggage up the 4 flights of stairs (main floor/1st floor). It will be a very nice hotel once the renovation is completed.
In general it appeared to be a nice place. Got a GREAT deal on Kayak. Upon arrival we were given a different room than one we booked. Room we were given should not be rented to paying guests. It was ONLY guest room in the basement, in between boiler room and laundry room. Likely a converted utility closet. Garbage bags in hallway, staff yelling to each other and playing music in laundry room at 7AM. Can't help but think we were assigned this room as 'punishment' for getting such a good deal (nearly half off website price).
Breakfast was good from the bakery down stairs - choice of pastry, a piece of fruit and a coffee and the lady there is lovely! Ask to stay in a room at the back if you can - the street is very noisy at night and the windows are not double glazed!!
Centrally located Loud music from bar next door
Rooms were recently remodeled, or at least mine was. Nicely done with some exposed brick, wood floor, tasteful art and fixtures, great bed, big screen TV. Shared bathroom was also freshly and tastefully done, and clean.... But SHARED. I think they may have some rooms w private baths for more $. They were working on the hallways during my stay, but I don't see how they can fully update vintage structure with its narrow halls and losing stairway. Street noise.
Check in time takes almost two hours
I asked for a refund and left 4 hours after I got there. I wouldn't recommend it to my worst enemy
Nothing front desk closed at 9pm so they basically robbed me. It looked like a homeless shelter, only crackhead and whores stay here
It was one block from where we needed to go the most often. My husbands favorite coffee place was next door. (Petite abelle). The staff was friendly and helpful. And the room was newly renovated with high ceilings and a very pretty contemporary style. The bed was comfortable. Some rooms in this place have a shared bathroom. I booked one with a private. Still this seems to be a common thing in nyc so be careful when booking. We stayed in room 207 which was newly renovated. The only thing lacking was individual temp control, which we fixed with a space heater. A refrigerator and microwave would have been nice too. The room was very small, not good for more than two people.
