You video chat in a booth with an agent (seems like a third world country), hard to hear everything. I went from one rate to paying 6 times the amount in less than 24 hrs and probably 20 miles of commuting. Thank goodness I did no add one!! When returning the vehicle, you must wait for the shuttle driver to inspect the vehicle, He has just left to the airport, so had to wait for the 1 driver to return 20 minutes later. There are 2 other guys that work the desk, but they are working for about 6-8 other rental companies. The vehicle was newer, but smelled of cigarettes. Just go with a reputable company, and pay a slightly higher rate for assurance and smoother transaction. Also beware! They will put a charge on your CREDIT card that ranges from 500-1000 (refundable if criterias met) before you can get your vehicle.

I was charged for insurance and pre-paid gas. Both of which were not needed. I'm still waiting for the insurance cost to be reimbursed.

Great service & Great cars! The pick up location is in a different lcocaiton than Main Car Rental in Chicago, but not farther away at all- Shuttles are convenient- you just have to know to NOT get on the Main Bus one.

Didn’t have good experience , waited for more than half an hour for the shuttle and to pick up the vehicle , when I book it was showing CAD and charged me in USD, located way too far , won’t go there again

The positives were: a decent car. A reasonable price (before insurance). A simple and fast returns process. Free airport transfers. The negatives were: a really long wait to collect the car due to a significant queue. Very high and unavoidable insurance rates ($45 per day).

The hidden fees are horrible. They charged extra for gas fillup when I already filled up the tank. They dont pick up the phone either.

We booked our rental car for Costa Rica through Kayak because it was so cheap. Like $6/day. We were renting for a month so a low daily fee was important. The most important advice we can give anyone is to make sure to read up on Costa Rica’s insurance requirements. Our six dollars a day, which came out close to $200 for the month turned into over $1000 once we got to the car rental place because of required insurance. You also need to have your own liability insurance when you rent a car. Luckily, our credit card company offered that. Routes car rental was there to pick us up at the airport, very kind, and our car was great. Do your research on car rentals before you show up!

I wasn’t able to rent the car because they don’t accept Apple Card for a deposit and don’t accept debit cards. They wont refund my money.
