Boston hotels near Back Bay Station

Cons: Booked a two bedroom with a third party site,didn't have that option so I called up the hotel to see if there was an option. Was told to just mark in underspecial request and they would have it for me. When I checked in was given a small King size room and says that's what we booked. Told the manager who talked to us what happened and she says we never made the request. I pulled up the reservation on myphone and showed her the request, then she says its first come first serve basis. Only room left for the night was a $80 upgrade was a four class upgrade to a suite which was much bigger and had two TVs, so I took it, had no other option. Walked into the room and if that was a four class upgrade I would hate to see a regular room. Room was very small, only one TV. Don't get me wrong, hotel was very nice. Big screen TV,nice showers and towels, but felt very very very cheated. Along with the $52 for parking it was like spending $600 a night for a small room.......Really??

Cons: They offer room service, but it's from the restaurant next door called Back Deck and the food wasn't just sub-par, it was bad. I ordered a burger that was burnt, it says it comes with french fries but it comes with dry, tasteless, potato wedges. We had our room upgraded to an executive suite, and it was still incredibly small. The staff is new and it is very obvious when you check in. They couldn't find where the card keys were or how to activate them which I would expect to be hotel staff 101. For as nice as the hotel is, there's a definitely a lack of professionalism in the lobby staff. And for whoever posted that there's a welcoming bar in the lobby, it hasn't even been opened yet, so....

Cons: Ok to be picky no restaurant mostly coffee shops and food concession s but this encourages you to go further and Boston is easy to get about .ok bar is limited but what they do offer in very good but it's no pub .old fashioned. is outstanding but only few bottled beers no draft

Cons: Offsite Valet Parking was $52 per day, raising the effective room rate cost by that amount. Bed was too soft to be comfortable for my taste. No onsite restaurant

Cons: Restaurants weren’t open long enough

Cons: Jeez, the standard rooms are tiny with hard to access closet and no side table on one side of the bed. We were offered a larger room for another $40 and should have taken it!

Cons: Waking up to a 45 degree room and being told that a refund was not possible. They did provide a space heater, but after a few hours it only raised the temperature to 49 degrees. No refund?! The Godfrey said I have to get the refund through the website. I expect a runaround.

Cons: Ice machine was broken, but these things happen.

Cons: First room far to loud (trucks unloading / loading 5 am); second room not so loud, but still noisy. Strange inventory: No hooks to hang coats etc. Only one shelf for shirts in the wardrobe, no other furniture witgh drawers (underware etc.) half of the wardrobe full of ironong board. No hooks to hang bathrobe and bigger towels in the bathroom. small selection at breakfast, every day the same. Loud music allready at breakfast. No bowls for yoghurt and esreal to mix, except small plastic cups. All breakfast cups, spoons etc. plastic (lots of vaste) hardly any tables to eat breakfast (sofas. lounge chairs etc.) Over all feeling like a grown up youth hostel

Cons: Room had a strange layout, was very dark. Only had 1 window to an inner courtyard, very dark.

Cons: It's hard to think of anything we didn't like

Cons: TV program transmission quality was spotty. Glass shower screen led to wet bathroom floor and soaking bath mats after every shower. Ice machine hard to locate and not on every floor.

Cons: Room was a fairly small. Dresser in the hall made for tight passage between the bedroom and the bathroom.

Cons: When I first arrived to check in the person checking me in said I had two reservations, for two rooms, one paid for one not. I was pretty freaked when I heard this because they asked me to pay again at the desk. I contacted Kayak and according to the nice lady from the company she took care of everything and she did it was not on my bill. My complaint is that it shouldnt have been an issue to begin with, how stupid was the guy at the front desk? Kayak has been good to me with reservations why was that an issue? I actually dont understand how that would have even happened to begin with. My other complaint is even though I KNOW there were several conventions in town that weekend, I was really upset that my friends at the Sheraton got to have an extended check out till 2pm when I KNOW almost EVERY Marriott I have stayed at before has extended check out, the book says they offered it and the lady on the phone said they did NOT offer it specifically because of the convention. I don't see it as far if a hotel attached to the same convention center with the same amount of people could have it and I could not. Especially since the Marriott was a far nicer establishment the hotel room I stayed in and hotel in general was far better kept and polished then the Sheraton. So that was my only true disappointment. Especially since I did not have to check out, I was all set and would just leave. I understand as my mother used to work for Marriott that the maids have to come in and clean asap before new people check in around 4. But still, that just...was odd. In a hotel that large usually they have maids for a lot longer so, I guess I am just missing something.

Cons: I was very upset with the fact that my room had no internet access other than paying $13 to $17 a day. I am sure when I made my reservation through Kayak that in the description of the room it read that internet access was included. I called the concierge desk but they were of no help to me. As nice as my stay was, I would not stay at this hotel again nor would I recommend it. The elevators were a mess during my stay too. Everyone staying there was upset and complaining about the incredibly long wait times.

Cons: There was an extremely faint electronic beeping noise that me and my husband heard every night falling asleep; nothing that prohibited us from falling asleep, but I will say that I noticed it each night as I was falling asleep. A little pricey, but warranted given the location; we also didn't pay for parking as we had a family member with a free garage spot at work across town.

Cons: Most hotels I stay in offer water & have it randomly placed around the hotel. There was none to be found here; including the gym. When we attempted to use the vending machine to buy some, only took $1.@@ or coins. We only had larger bills.

Cons: Though Internet was available, only at exorbitant price; amenities in the room, none; one plain bottle of water was $7.50, though we had a nice view to the street, still the room was not cozy, rather detached , impersonal and with white all around gives the sensation one is in a hospital and it is sickening. no night reading lights. In the middle of night to much lights moving to the room frm out side.. It is clear one is not at home!

Cons: Arrived a little after 3pm to check-in, was told room would be ready within the hour (normal check in is 4pm) I called around 4:15pm and was told room was still not ready, did not get a text until 6:15pm that room was ready. Yes they stored our luggage while we went out and did our thing but that’s very disappointing, never had issues like that with a Marriott before...

Cons: We were two guys gong to a red sox game and even though I had called ahead to request two twin beds, we were given a room with a king bed and fold out chair.

Cons: For $640/night there were zero amenities. Such as, the room came with 2 keurig pods, if you needed more (for your 4 night stay) they would happily provide them for you for $1 per kcup. Wifi was extra. Oh, there was a continental breakfast on the 28th floor however, for my $640/night that was not included in my stay. Not sure how you upgraded to coffee and a donut.

Cons: Was promised champagne and strawberries the first evening, but it didn't come. The next day, the room wasn't cleaned when we arrived back at 11pm, so called to have at least the bed made and fresh towels (they offered a discount on an additional night, which was accepted, though didn't go smoothly at final check out for some reason); also mentioned the missing champagne and strawberries, was told they'd be there the next night, but again no champagne or strawberries when we returned. Ever. Hallway was meeting central at 3am for drunken shenanigans by other guests. Finally, on the fourth day, after returning to the hotel after a long day, the wireless entry failed, so we had to wait to be let into the room. To the front desk's credit, they were going to upgrade us for free on the last night for the inconvenience, but one of us needed to get back into the room because they were flying out in two hours, so that wouldn't work. Was promised an email accounting, even gave email address and was promised in 5-10min; it's now over twelve hours later, and still no receipt in my inbox or spam/junk folder.

Cons: Elevators were a bit slow and got backed up during peak times of check-in and departure.

Cons: Insufficient soundproofing. Avoid avoid avoid 6th floor: that's where the pool is and kids are very loud when walking and running along the corridor. We couldn't check in at 3:30pm and the room was not ready until 4:30pm, half hour past the check in time of 4pm.

Cons: The pool could be cleaner. They should provide locks for the lockers.

Cons: Slow elevators , maid service didn't provide basic necessities and ignored written request, staff not friendly - needed extra room key and was told to come back later due to limited number.

Cons: Even though it was during the covid pandemic they could have had a few more amenities available. I purposely booked bc they had a gym which was closed (I was alerted only a few days before my trip). With spray disinfectant, masks and wipes available it would have been fine for the gym to be open. Or they could have limited the number of people. That just annoyed me

Cons: - pay for internet in a 4* hotel? in every starbucks internet is for free, at least a basic bandwith - rooms are really old, I expected more from the brand hyatt - on 1st day room was not cleaned, only upon call I never ever stay in a Hyatt again

Cons: They offered none of the amenities that typically are offered free at any other hotel I have stayed in. Very low value for the top money they ask for. I won't be staying there again on my next trip to Cambridge.

Cons: 1. Only one drawer 2. No desk or desk chair 3. Lighting was strange. 4. No "instruction" sheet.

Cons: It's shocking that for the price you pay for a room at a Marriott that Wi-Fi or wired Internet connectivity is not free. Really? Bathroom vanity was very small, too small for two people to be getting ready at the same time. The under-mounted bathroom sink wasn't installed under the granite, vanity top correctly...surprisingly low build quality or QA, again, for the price of a room at a Marriott.
