I originally was trying to book this hotel via the QANTAS website however they had problems, so I rang the hotel direct and they were most helpful. Not only did they book me in, but they beat the original price and converted it for me to $AUD for my small brain. I drove to SFO from LAX - on arrival bell hop service was excellent, didn't miss any bags or jackets that were in my car. Stayed in the main building - Fairmont Queen room Clean and tidy Free WiFi BathTub Excellent staff Late checkout Food selection and room service Tonga room is a must see Location very central to anywhere you'd like to be in SFO The main building although grand, is a little dated. The refurbished rooms are good, but the particular room I was in the door didn't fully open because the wall gets in the way, so for room service the trolley couldn't be wheeled in, food had to be carried in from the door, and there wasn't really any table to put the food on, only the writing desk or the fold out mini bar. I had to call for slippers
Wonderful time here no bad experiences Totally preference but the beds are too soft and frankly the food is over priced for the quality. It's clear the food has not been under a real chefs direction for a while but these are relatively minor complaints
Beautiful hotel, great service. Staff very helpful, especially Scott at front desk
Location Parking at $65 a nite is outrageous There were no blankets in the room so I asked for some they came an hour later. I had to call 3 times to get service. Wifi was $14 a day not free. Coffee in the room was poor. U would think they could provide quality coffee. Paper was delivered to some rooms but not ours
The staff was both professional and warm. The room was immaculate, the view breathtaking, and the beds are phenomenally comfortable. A truly memorable stay. If you are looking for something sleek and modern this is not your hotel. Food and drinks in the hotel itself are not good value, especially given the wealth of foodie options in SF.
View, room, service
Comfortable beds. Great location. Nice staff. Beautiful decor. Poor soundproofing- we could hear everything next door. $65 parking and $14 wifi. "Courtyard view" misrepresents the huge noisy cooling type towers. Breakfast was 1 1/2 hour late. Dinner in the restaurant was loud and only mediocre.
Reputation was indeed lived up to ...better than I expected Cost of overnight parking
Perfection... However, I was very surprised that the ice maker on our floor did not work, and there was a chocolate wrapper on a table by the elevator for our three day stay??? With all that opulence, did not get that???
Room was large & I only had a queen. Bed, pillows & sheets all very good. Hotel is dated but some would call that charming. My robe had stains on it.
Very luxurious and clean. The staff was friendly and helpful, especially the management. When things went wrong, they were accommodating to benefit me for the inconveniences. Upon checking in, they didn't have our room available until the next day. Not sure how that even happens, but after talking to the manager, he miraculously was able to get our room. I had an allergic reaction to the laundry detergent they use on the bed sheets and my eyes swelled up. I was told that if you have allergies, you need to call in advance to make sure they wash the bedding with hyper-allergenic detergent (they normally use Dawn). For the inconveniences, they did comp me my room service.
The view is amazing in the linens were very comfortable Valet parking is a bit steep in price
Window view was loud but nice, room was clean and service was very good. Nice location. Jeffery was a great bartender showing professionalism with an intoxicated female needing assistance at the bar Urban tax fee is a shady charge that was not explained at check in, The fee is for bike rental and internet, yet the Wi fi was listed as free and you would be insane to ride a bike down the hills. I had to argue to get it removed.
Stanford Court hotel was in a terrific location. Cable car intersection right out the front door was super cool. The lobby and bar were upscale and clean. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a boutique hotel in San fransisco. The room size was a little small for the money, and you could hear everything from the hallway and surrounding rooms.
Location Mandatory "urban bundle fee" of $20+ per night, even if you don't use or want the services. Housekeeping was bad -- there was a half full highball glass in the hallway outside our room for our entire stay. When we arrived on a December evening the room temperature was set to 54 degrees with cold air blasting in. Overall not a friendly or welcoming environment, unfortunately.
The location is wonderful, the bed was good No one answered the valet parking phone three days in a row. No room service. A beer glass sat in the hallway for two days without being picked up. Kitschy "hipster" feel.
I liked the lady at check in helping resolve an issue with billing. Somehow, the hotel reservations people decided I should pay for an extra night when I had cancelled that night the previous week. The lady at check in was very helpful and was able to resolve the issue, but I was disappointed I had the issue in the first place. It was not clear to me why this happened. The room was nice - but quite expensive in my opinion.
Nice location Slow service from check in to check out Uncomfortable beds (pillows were worn flat, requested new ones and got two more flat/worn out pillows) Towel was dirty (not stained--it had actual chips of dirt on it) slow wifi Very low quality food
Friendly staff, great location (walking distance to most attractions), comfy beds and updated overall. Needed spa after some gruelling walks (need to be fit to get around) or simply jump on cable cars outside hotel ;). Although We found city pricy, hotel food offerings were excessive to say the least (no room service either?)Management has to know within walking distance are some great options for meals that are easier on your wallet.
While the yellow carpet in the halls is a bit dated and worn, the rest of the Stanford court is updated, quirky, and fun. The staff is great, and the location is only half a block from the top of nob hill. Great weekend escape.
Steve, one of the staff members, was very friendly and helpful. Aside from that, nothing. Nearly everything. The rest of the staff seemed unimpressed with the hotel themselves and in fact mocked the hotel for intentionally using "false advertising" to lure customers into staying there. Upon arriving we received a "complimentary upgrade," which off the batt seemed wonderful, but once we entered the room we were appalled; we couldn't even imagine what our original room would have looked like. When I called down to complain about the striking difference from the pictures on the website the woman at the front desk replied that what I saw online was called "photoshop." The room was spacious, but empty; there was no headboard, safe or amenities. The hotel offered nothing, but rooms and was not the kind of place you looked forward to returning to at the end of a long day. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone and I would never return myself. For a couple hundred dollars more I could have stayed at the nicest hotel in San Francisco. This hardly ranks with the top hotels in the city, despite its high prices and false four star advertising online.
Very comfortable bed. Free wifi. Good gym. Very friendly staff and they sell oddities water for $1 a bottle. A little bit dated interior
GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE, EVERYONE IN THE LOBBY WAS VERY HELPFUL AND KIND. HOTEL WAS CLEAN, AND PROVIDES A FRESH SMELL AS YOU WALK IN. I LOVED THE WATER BOTTLES TO GET PURIFIED WATER AS YOU WALK IN OR LEAVE.
The location and our room size No complaints
Fabulous hotel, fabulous location, great staff
The staff is nothing if not attentive. Very professional, courteous, helpful. The room was very nicely appointed. We were upgraded to a very large room which was more like a suite, making our week stay very enjoyable. The bed was extremely comfortable! I would definitely stay here again. We both felt that the $15/day charge for internet was excessive and off-putting. Unfortunately, the service we were getting with verizon was almost unusable, but we weren't willing to pay that kind of fee for wifi, which is free just about everywhere.
The staff is friendly and willing to do anything to make your stay perfect. Room service is fast. Parking valets are always available. The bar/restaurant is a wonderful place to unwind at the end of the day or drop in for a night cap. I love this place.
Quality of service provided, location of the hotel & value for money None
the hotel has a relaxed style with the trappings of luxury. Most of the staff were extremely friendly and helpful and made us want to return Some of the check in staff were rather aloof and unhelpful
Fantastic as Always
This hotel was fantastic! The rooms had plenty of space, the staff was attentive, we will definitely return!
VERY friendly and attentive Bellmen. Delightful Staff
Really enjoy the Huntington. Professional staff and also provided a courtesy upgrade.
The view was great. The service and the facility were also wonderful. totally worth the money. Location. It is located up on the very steep hill which you may not notice when you use Google maps. For travelers who solely rely on public transportation should be prepared to climb the hill or plan ahead for ground transportation.
The room was surprisingly spacious and much bigger than what was advertised. The view onto Huntington park was spectacular. Daily fee for wifi in the room.
The staff were phenominal! No better way to end the day than to sit down in the lounge and listen to the piano. All around beautiful hotel.
attitude of all staff, location excellent, quality of room and facilities, views from rooftop lounge and bar
Courtesy of the staff! Parking is pricy!
Great location Parking costs
Little bit too old The bed is great to sleep on.
The breakfasts were superb. Food selection was quite extraordinary. The view at the Top of the Mark is marvelous. My wife and I found no reason to dislike anything.
The bed was meag comfy Noises from the plumbing- I wouldn't normally comment and thought others were perhaps exaggerating but it sounded and like an earthquake in my room! The walls were vibrating and lights shaking when other folks were using their shower in the rooms above. Not good.
staff was friendly and very accommodating. i had to launch my business this week and ended up here for 3 nights, was just a beautiful hotel and great staff. only complaint was someone charged our room for a dinner at the top of the mark and had to explain i hadn't even been up there. i had a dinner receipt from a restaurant from around the corner but the desk person believed me and didn't require viewing it. would definitely stay here again.
The Mark Hopkins was a great find. Nob Hill location away from the tenderloin area, which can be slightly seedy area. Recommend this hotel for comfort and luxury, location. Clean rooms, helpfull staff
Nice location. Courteous staff. Checkout not efficient.
Nice and attentive personnel. Quality food. Having to pay for Internet. No phone in the lobby to make external calls. No service for coffee in the lobby.
well the first day i opened my curtains and had a panoramic view of the bay. it was an absolutely georgous view of the city and bay, it could not have been better. nothing
Front desk was extremely helpful. I needed to cancel my reservation to relocate closer to the hospital where my family member was undergoing surgery for a brain tumor. However, I had booked the room through Expedia. The manager assured me that the hotel would not charge a cancellation fee, given that Expedia advertises no cancellation fees except as subject to the hotel. He was willing to be put on the phone with Expedia to explain the waiver. While on the phone with Expedia, I was put on hold for 30 minutes, then reprimanded by the Expedia representative that I would be charged a cancellation fee of the first night's stay. She refused to let me speak to the manager, and also refused to speak to the hotel manager who had happily obliged to discuss the matter with her. I was continually placed on hold, only to have her come back to the phone to reprimand me. I am grateful to the hotel manager for his hospitality which was in stark contrast to my telephone encounter with Expedia. Expedia and the false advertising of no cancellation fees, as well as the rude telephone spokesperson.
The room itself as well as the bathroom were very spacious and comfortable, certainly value for money (although a bit old-fasioned styled). The staff at the hotel was very friendly, but not able to check previous charges on the credit card (already confirmed by my bank), "the system is down now" was the suspicious answer I got. This is probably just holiday inn's policy and may have nothing to do with the staff's skills, who were always very helpfull. The parking is extremely expensive compared to the public parkings around.
I like the view and the complimentary wine tasting.. Our room at the 20th floor had a great view of the city at night.. Even tho it was a short stay on our 10th year aniversarie it was a great one..
simple place for business. very clean, beautiful view of the city and part of the bay. staff was helpful. good for late checkins, as checkin is 3pm, so make sure to call or check in prior to arrival. pool was closed for renovations, but that really isn't a complaint since they will be upgrading it which is great. maybe breakfast was kind of expensive, i payed $19 for the buffet when it was just me. so kind of high, $15 would have been more reasonable given the limited choice in food.
the staff were the best. Baker on reception was a great help nothing to add
The room service was good and the beds were comfy We booked it becuase of the pool but when we got there we found the pool was closed for the whole of our stay. The location wasn't particularly good for sightseeing.
Very good value. Nice looking and simple hotel for a very reasonable rate. Just what I was looking for. Nice breakfast and good views. Took my wife and baby with me on a business conference trip. Room worked well for the baby with enough space for the crib provided unlike other hotels I saw. Overall very solid hotel. Location was not the best but I knew that going in. Some of the surrounding streets were a little sketchy at night. Not a big deal for me but maybe for some others. Parking pricey at $45 a night but all hotels in SF are about this expensive.
Friendly Staf, clean rooms. City c Highly expensive parking!!!
Convenient location especially the cable car stop adjacent to the hotel. Room temp was difficult to manage.
View and street that hotel was in it , hotel was clean and Good stuff nice view and was very good hotel for family To visit San Francisco, good facility for going to city and taxi and bus was very nice and available. There was many restaurants of different countries near hotel so we could go there and use it Turkish and irannian restaurant named alborz Was very near to hotel Bus station also was very near to hotel, Breakfast was not including , I was supposed to have breakfast included but it was not included for my reservation,so a little bit was bothering for me.!!!! There wasn't anything else that I can say negative about this hotel, We were comfortable in five nights That were staying in hotel.
One of the best business travel experiences ever Nothing
Convenient, charming and reasonably priced. Includes a well-prepared complementary breakfast. Would have tried the restaurant but it was quite expensive. No fridge in room.
Everything about the hotel, it was charming, very clean, the people were very nice, the room was comfortable. Loved the decor and the French influence. I would defintely stay there again and would recommend it to family and friends. Loved the old elevator, reminded me of the one when I lived in San Francisco many years ago. I am planning on another trip to San Francisco in the near futrue and would like ot stay there again. Close to Union Square and stores and restaurants. Want to try their dinner next time. Dont have any dislikes whatsoever
Kind hospitality, There is no coffe machine in the rooms
the free breakfast. Quite a quaint place to stay. No window view at all in our room.
The service was spot on as well as the entire decor of the place. Very beautiful and clean. The room was quaint and delightful. I enjoyed the bathtub very much. The heater was a little hard to use.
There is French music playing near the office. Each floor has the works of a French artist, and we stayed on the Chagall floor - one of my favorites. The elevator was prompt and I enjoyed the old style gate that closed after the doors closed. Very charming. Quite close to Union Square. American breakfast was included in our price; nicely done. -
The ambience and location. A very different experience and obvious pride in which the owners had tastefully decorated each and every room. Lack of Tea/coffee making facility in the room.
We were very pleased about the location. The hotel was very cozy and comfortable and we would definitely consider staying here again next time we'll be in San Francisco. Only that the wireless internet connection should be working in all rooms and maybe the breakfast could be improved with more fruit/ healthy alternatives to the eggs and french toasts, which was good but very rich!
Staffs are very friendly
It was very nice to get an American Breakfast with your room rate. No blow dryer in the room - had to ask for one, and go to the office to get it.
I liked the friendliness of the staff and the attention to making the hotel a comfortable place to stay.
Location, just perfect Restaurant schedule
The staff were incredibly helpful, and the location was perfect Traffic noise as vehicles made it up the very steep slope outside my window
Great, central location. The Nob Hill neighborhood is nice, plenty of places to eat and shop nearby. Everyone on staff at the Inn was incredibly friendly and helpful. The building itself is gorgeous. We had a really enjoyable stay here! Neighborhood is a little noisy, but it's the middle of the city so it's to be expected.
Quaint. Charming. Right in the city. Did a lot of walking. Close to Union Square and Chinatown. Great eating places nearby Loved the hotel staff. They were helpful, informative and always considerate. Friends all said that this would be a place that they would return with their spouses and children.
Everything about our stay was pleasant. They hotel is an old building, but is in excellent condition. It's small, but they use they use the space well. The staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful; they make everything so easy (even parking, which is a nightmare in the city). I would absolutely stay here again! No complaints!
Heritage building, cool elevator Noise, room by the old elevator, very hard mattress.
location unfriendly staff. bad breakfast
Felt European but was in the heart of San Fran
Very charming, old fashioned feel. They made a delicious breakfast buffet with fresh fruits, quiches, meats, pastries, etc. The coffee was incredibly good. The staff were all friendly and seemed happy to work there. No a/C... Typical in SF old buildings. So I kept my windows open which let in noise.
Quiet, comfortable, clean and pleasant staff.
Family feel as a whole. Complimentary drink was surprisingly good. Staff is helpful and friendly.
We liked that the rooms had comfortable chairs - not just a bed for sitting and reading or watching TV. The evening appetizer/wine event was nicely done. The breakfast was quite good. As a comment, not a judgment, the stairwells were narrow and steep, the floors creaky and the bathrooms small. These are reasons that the hotel may not be appropriate for children.
Service, breakfast, location, room None; coffee maker didn't work
The room was lovely - very nicely done. The afternoon wine and nibbles was also very nice! They didn't put the cushions back on the bed everyday. Small point but would have been nice.
Very nice Hotel with excellent service and staff. Great location
very relaxed and friendly hotel
The common areas are very comfortable and the fires throughout the Inn are a nice touch. The Inn wasn't in the best of decor condition and the rooms were very tired, especially the extremely dirty curtains. The bath towels were also very small and thin and were definitely in need of replacement! Our bed was very noisy - creaking every time one of us turned!
The White Swan was decorated in an English style and our room was very big, with it's own fireplace (which in SF in August - 18°c max - was great) and also a kitchenette. The breakfast was good and the small buffet and complimentary wine in the late afternoon was very nice. It's a short walk to Union Square (where all the shops are) and only about 1-2 blocks from the closest cable car stop.
The staff was very nice. The room was nice. Wine in evening was nice, and gave a chance to meet other travelers. Breakfast was good.
Nice hotel, quite friendly staff definetly needs renovation!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great rate with a free room upgrade. The room was probably bigger than many in SF call home. I mean, it had three sinks: one main bathroom, one wet bar, and one in a separate vanity area. The staff is super nice. Old building with original single-pane windows, so you'll probably hear some street noise.
affordable and it was close to all the tourist attractions carpet was dirty and the sheets didn't seem clean either
Staff was friendly Room was dilapidated, Internet too slow and intermittent to be useful.
Staff and location great Soon rooms need up grade
Room was huge, very comfortable. Not very sound proof, you can hear your neighbors pretty well.
Cute boutique hotel with character. Beds were very comfy. Staff was preoccupied with other things besides attending to guests. They told me I had booked two rooms when I had only booked one. Had to call the booking site who contacted the hotel staff to straighten it out. Rooms were small with old box style tv's. Breakfast was sad, Coffee, hard boiled eggs, bread. Would expect more for the price. Hotel had a musty smell.
Older hotel but free parking and good location
location staff friendliness parking was limited and tight weekend got way to crowded and loud
Location was great! The room had a nocw view of the street, the room was huge and verry nice I loved the set up. It was clean and had a nice big closet and a walk in shower. The elevator was kinda slow and old but works very good, one set of stairs for the motel and parking is tight but free and good, weparked it once and walked everywhere
The staff was very friendly and helpful, and my room was nice and clean. The room was a pretty large, and the place has a good location. The bathroom was showing its age a bit and had no bathtub. You could hear people packing up their cars rather easily.
Staff was very friendly, great location, good for the price ... WiFi was really bad
The location of hotel and inclusion of parking were great. Room 115: Hit with a moldy, wet odor immediately upon entering room. Blood splatter on wall in main room and multiple larger areas of blood splatter and smear in bathroom. Also smelled of cigarettes.
close to Chinatown, the Cable Car and other central sights breakfast is meagre, location involves a steep uphill walk
The staff extremely kind and helpful. Continental breakfast sucked.
helpful reception: great location none
Friendly and helpful people. The room had a brick wall outside the window allowing minimal light to enter.
Location Free coffee, tea, water and Internet Speed is good Big rooms (for double beds) park on the street, you'll save $27 bathroom door doesn't fully close dirty corners (behind beds) some staff is great, others are not hot water is not consistent, watch out no parking rooms are old comforters are/feel cheap
Great location and very good value. Continental breakfast in the morning and friendly staff. The two beds in our room were full size beds (a little short for me) and a bit worn. No air conditioning but the large windows were great.
It was cheap, clean, and close to the financial district. A little dated. The bed was incredibly hard.
free wifi and internet service and free breakfast in morning no problems
The room was great, very confortable with a changing room. The location is very nice, though is over a hill top so when you come back from Union Square you have to walk upwards, but this is San Francisco!! The breakfast was very poor, and the staff in general didn't provide much help, even one clerk fail to give simple directions.
Great location Room was not fully clean. There were pieces of plaster on the carpet. The bed angled up the wrong way - the foot of the bed was higher than the head of the bed, for some reason. There was no A/C in the room, and heat was controlled by a seemingly uncontrollable radiator. The breakfast hour was a joke. There were a couple of stale pastries and black coffee. All other coffee was a 50 to 75 cent upcharge that required you to put change into a coffee maker that had somehow been modified to accept money. When checking out, I asked for a receipt to make sure I didn't get charged any incidentals. The lady at the front desk refused to give me a receipt, and told me to call or email Expedia to obtain it, since I had booked through them. Overall, not a great experience.
The location is great. The hotel is clean and comfortable, nice and helpful staff. Some rooms face a brick wall, some of the others facing the street may be a bit noisy.
The rooms were clean and all had private bathrooms. The front desk staff was extremely helpful. The location to the bart and downtown was great! The only problem my husband and I ran into were slightly cold showers, but who can complain for such a great price!
The location was excellent and the price low. Accommodations were simple but functional and staff was very communicative, even texting me the day before my arrival to confirm check-in time. Being right on Van Ness, it was a very loud spot. The bed was small and the bathroom cramped. No soap was provided for the sink, which was weird.
The rooms are okay, fully equipped and very clean (good towels!), good beds. The location is good, parking garage available at no extra cost The so called Continental Breakfast was a joke: picking up a cup of coffee and a muffin in the very small entrance/office.
Value for the money
Location was excellent, close to Polk street with pubs, shopping, restaurants, etc. Price was right. Close all bus lines. Rooms were clean and well kept if a little dated. Microwave and fridge a plus. Free parking. The staff was very friendly and helpful. This is a place I would definately stay at again and would recommend it to all. Nothing to complain about.
room does not look like picture
Free parking. Good location. Easy walking to sites and public transit. Very resonable price. Quiet. The hotel is older and wedged between other buildings so there is no view. The room was clean but had a strong smell of cleanser each morning.
The area, very nice position good for bus transport, good restaurants and shops It was really a motel, the room was dark .
Very helpful, friendly staff ... excellent location .... affordable, clean room
A good value hotel in a expensive city like S. Francisco. Located in a nice neighbourhood. Very Clean and confortable, free parking and a basic breakfast. The staff is great, friendly and helpful. Nothing
The proximity to places of interest. We weren't far from anywhere we wanted to go. The parking wasn't the greatest but we are talking about San Francisco. The carpeting was worn and there were stains on the ceiling but the room was clean.
convenient, is close to where i had to be, and quiet
I enjoyed my stay here because the room was big. I didn't like the small parking
Friendly helpful staff - particularly Marshall and Vespa
I enjoyed hearing the bells of the Cable Cars as they stopped in front of the hotel. Otherwise, my stay was pleasent. The difficulty in carrying luggage up the front steps.
The cost and location Internet access
It's location was ok. Pretty much in the middle of all the sites. It got the job done as a place to lay at night. I felt safe enough with the metal gate and a security guard at night. I rented a car and street parking, while free at night, was kinda hard. but very doable. 3 straight nights i found free meter (9pm-9am) parking within 3 blocks of the hotel. While there was a lot of bums, they seem harmless enough, but there was a lot. Hotel staff wasn't answering the door when we first arrived but eventually got in after several calls and ringing the bell over ad over. I'd defiantly stay at better place in a better area if i ever go back to SF, but for the price it was good. Didn't like that i had to call and ring the bell over and over until i got in. Location is right near tenderloin with all the crazy bums.
Room was big enough, clean enough, good value, good location.
it was in the centre & easy to get around it could off been cleaner &staff a bit friendlyer
It was cheap, and filled a need
the location is near to union square by walking.. and consider it as sport! the rate is also good. hope we can have WIFI from our own room instead just in the lobby
Staff were friendly and very accommodating. Room was comfortable and clean even though furniture and fittings were old. Position relative to cable car and other public transportation was good. Also close to supermarket and other convenience stores, bottle store and choice of restaurants. We were very happy there and would do so again. Noisy in the evenings and night. Area OK during the daytime but many vagrants and revellers around at night. A phone in the room would have been good.
During my stay in the Cable Car Court Hotel I like the tranquility of the zone anb the location.
cosy room room could be cleaner
well located in a safe area.clean and quiet.really good quality/price choice.
