Pros: The car was new and clean and had a full tank of gas.
Cons: They kept trying to add all sorts of fee's and insisting on extra's and adding them without asking. The total came out to 4x what ways originally agreed to. Then when I complained and said I wasn't paying that price she couldn't figure out how to remove every thing she added. I spent over 2 hours trying to get it all sorted and another hour waiting for the car. It was 2am by the time I got out of there.

Cheaper than average cars, terrible drop-off
Pros: It was cheaper than other companies
Cons: Drop-off is 8-4 at the 687 Folsom location. On Saturday it's 8-1. Is there off-hours drop-off? No. when I was dropping off the keys, I was made to wait even longer outside just to hand keys to an email employee who was late opening up that morning.

Pros: Mel (this location's manager) was really accommodating and really took the time and care to make sure I had a great experience. The car was great and the service was great. This was the best experience I've ever had renting a car. This Alamo location is highly recommended.

Cons: Car wasn't clean. The gear shift had something gross smeared on it. Looked like cheese spread. Super nasty. There was also trash in the car. Had to clean it out ourselves. In general car was not cleaned inside.

Avoid Alamo - they are scammers
Pros: The courtesy shown by agent in San Francisco during pick up
Cons: - car was not the one I paid for, I paid for a Ford Mustang convertible
- car came damaged with scratches on the side and on the side view mirror
- car was only 80% full of gas
- during drop off at LAX the Alamo asked to see what insurance I had, when she saw I was not protected against certain things the agent tried to blame me for a dent above the wheel - this is ridiculous! I am the most careful driver ever and only had the car for 24 hours 10000% without any incident

Better pick up location details needed- was booked
Pros: Friendly service
Cons: Booked through Kayak online and requested airport pickup. However, when I arrived to pick up the car rental, they informed me that my rental was actually downtown. They informed me that if they are overbooked at the airport, they push your rental downtown ($67 taxi ride). This was never communicated to me during purchase. They then charged me an extra $200 to rent from them there with one of their back ups. Which I am not sure why I was pushed elsewhere if they had an extra vehicle. I ended up paying double with no fault of my own. I am very upset about the lack of communication during booking and will not be using Kayak for my travels any longer.
Pros: The staff was very professional and one on time. There wasn't a huge line unlike other car rental business. They had inventory and a large variety.
Cons: My only suggestion for this specific location, would be to have an overnight drop off.
We only needed the car for the day to explore the bay area. Our hotel was in Union Square next to Enterprise and overnight parking is expensive. Our hotel charged $50/night. We didn't need the car the following day and would have prefer to return it back to Enterprise. This suggestion/concern only comes because in past trips we were able to do overnight drop off at other car rental businesses including Enterprise.

After nightmare pickup, smooth sailing
Pros: Car was new and had a precious sub port for music, making our roadtrip smooth sailing.
Cons: Pickup took an hour in the SF Union st location. They had the cars and were nice people, but seemed understaffed - way behind on turning them around. Even on a relatively calm Monday, the people in front of us stacked up 5 groups deep. We would have appreciated a more clean car, but we're so happy to finally be called up that we took it right away, sticky doors and dirty Windows and all!

Bad to Good outcome
Pros: Our car was brand new. The one day rate was very competitive.
Cons: At pick up, a car was not available so we were directed to try other agencies?! After trying around no other cars were available so we thought we were going to uber around. We went back to enterprise to see if they could get us a car at another location. Amazingly a car just arrived that we were able to take. A very nice agent helped us by the name Katie. She apologetically got us set up quickly and we had a brand new SUV which was an upgrade from our original rental. They also waived an after hours early return fee. What was going to be a bad situation turn red out to be agreat outcome. A big thank you to Katie!:)

Was given the wrong vehicle
Cons: I tried to call Kayak to complain the morning I picked up the car - I booked a convertible, went to pick it up and on arrival was told there had no cars at all left. They eventually found me a sedan and said I could t have a convertible. I was offered no refund and did not get a convertible. Enterprise rental told me I have to sort it out with Kayak, but their offices were closed on Sunday so I was forced to take the wrong car at risk of not getting a refund and having no car. Also the tank was completely empty as they said they didn't have time to prepare the car.

Debit Card requirements
Pros: The SF Team did a great job
Cons: Kayak does not make you aware that if you plan to pay with a debit car you have to be local - which thank goodness I was, and provide two ways to prove this as well as two references. This caused an hour delay in my trip, trying to get the car. SUPER dissapointed.
Pros: we were staying in the city, and wanted a car for one-day to drive north into Marin and Sonoma counties... walked one block to pick up the car at the Hertz desk inside a lovely hotel. Cons: These jack holes jacked up the price almost $200 on pick up. And didn't include a jack (or a tire) in the boot to boot!
Service was some jacked out green-screen operator on a creepy skype call thing at the airport, and then my clan and I had to walk. And walk. And walk. "Why are we walking, p'pa?" asked my young daughter. "Did we not make a success at the hiring of an automobile? America is very great, but why is there so much walking to come to an automobile you have just sold grand m'ma's jewels to hire? P'pa... p'pa, I'm getting hungry. Is it much further?" Our poor son Edmund died of typhoid, and we lost half our supplies trying to fjord the river.

Upselling and poor communication
Pros: Nice car, easy return
Cons: I prepaid for my car on the website ($230). When I went to pick up the car, I went through the standard up-sells and declined them (~10 minutes of saying no). When it came time to give me a car, the up-sells became less obvious and the sales person led me to believe that the cost I was reviewing was the price I paid online.
She showed me cars that were way above what I had paid ($500) for about 20 minutes as I continually kept our conversation focused on the price I had already paid. She then offered me a car "30 dollars cheaper than I had paid" ($200 total) and I took it. Turns out that $200 was in addition to the $230 I had already paid.
Even though I asked for confirmation that I was not paying more than I had prepaid, it retrospect, she never actually answered that question outright - she never lied, just dodged. I feel played and Hertz now feels like a sleazy company. I'll go with any of the other multiple car rental companies next time.

A bit of a hassle at drop off
Cons: There was a significant scrape on the car when we picked it up. They claimed it was our responsibility. We were in a rush to get to a flight but they made us fill out paperwork. I argued that if their records were correct to begin with, we wouldn't have to risk missing our flight.

Pros: The people we dealt with were friendly. Drop-off was easy and quick. The car was clean and in good shape.
Cons: Pick-up at SFO was bad. The first agent (a video representative) couldn't find the stall the car was supposed to be in. The second agent (after standing in a second line, of course) found the car's location. When we went to get it, the third agent informed us the car had already been given to someone else. This person then gave us a different kind of car, which magically had the same exact rate as what we had prepaid.
Pros: Good service from Mo . . . thanks for the upgrade.

Kayak & Dollar systems not in sync
Cons: We reserved a rental through Kayak and received a confirmation email and everything -- BUT when we arrived at the Dollar car rental they had no record of our reservation.
To add insult to injury they had NO cars left. This was a very busy time in San Fransisco - none of the other rental places had any cars either. Very not cool.

Pros: They quickly found my reservation and the pick-up process overall was quick and efficient. I was able to rent a GPS on the spot, which was very useful. Drop-off was also quick and easy, which was great since I dropped the car off at the airport and needed to quickly get to my gate.
Cons: During pickup, no one went to the car with me to identify any dents, scratches, etc., or to answer any questions I had about how to operate the car. I was only given the keys and told where the car was. Overall, this would not cause me not to rent from Dollar in the future, but it is an area that could use improvement on the company's part.

Cons: We booked online, minor issue with pick-up location. It took 3 staff to figure out how to find our booking. I got asked 5 times if my booking was with Dollar despite me showing the booking email on my ipad. I then got asked 3 times if my surname was dollar. When i explained I wanted to shift the pick-up or re-book to the airport, they said they couldn't do it and I had to go, sit down and book it online on my ipad and then come to the desk and they could give me the car...but could not do that for me?!?!
Then there was the mysterious 30% tax that only dollar were charging, no other car company charged. We went to another company, were charged less and service was amazing. Will NOT be recommending this company to anyone!

Cons: I selected San Francisco, Non-airport, Full-Size or Standard only. Dollar displayed the lowest rate and I booked, thinking I would get something like a Toyota Corolla. When I arrived, they stuck me with the much smaller Nissan Sentra, and that was only because they didn't have something even smaller. Although I'm not sure whether the fault lies with Dollar or Kayak, I think it's your responsibility to make sure things like this don't happen to your repeat customers.
One more unrelated item -- don't you think you should provide a better explanation of the bundled Allianz insurance coverage? Every car rental agency offers similar insurance at the counter, and undoubtedly, a lot of your customers are purchasing redundant coverage.

Price and dropoff
Cons: The price was risen a lot compraring with the final price we had to pay for the vehicle. As you can see my reservation I requested to dropff the car at 5:30 am and we asked and confirm at the pick up point if someone would be at the dropoff location and we were told "yes, is an airport therefore people is 24 hours there" sadly no one was there and we had a flight to catch so we barely made it and we had to drop it roughly .

Car was marred in places inside and out
Pros: The price of my rental couldn't be beat! Returning was a breeze.
Cons: The car was marred on the fabric in several places and had burn marks. The outside was also visibly damaged in places and I was nervous I would be charged for the damage (still waiting to see). The line to pick up my car was long and delayed me about an hour, but all of the airport rental lines at SFO are very long, and this might have been the shortest one. The rental agent was pushy on trying to get me to upgrade, but that's not unique to this company.

Pros: The car must have had a leak because it overheated twice. The first time I called and they told me to add water. I did and then two days later it happened again but this time I didn't have any water and I had to wait until someone could drive to the beach and get me some. It was a hassle and not something I expect in a rental car. It had 25,000 miles.
Cons: Your email clearly states off airport shuttle, there isn't one.. I called the number provided in the email and it turns out this place is downtown San Francisco. So I had no car. I had to cancel it and because there was some type of computer convention most of other rental companies were out of cars. I waited 3 hours until I finally found one. I was with my young kids and over 70 year old parents. It was a nightmare.

KAYAK HAS FALSE ADVERTISING
Pros: I liked the rental car from economy rent a car. It was clean, great for the weekend and roomy.
Cons: KAYAK FALSELY ADVERTISES THIS RENTAL CAR PLACE AT SFO AIRPORT. THE COMPANY ECONOMY RENT A CAR STATED THEY HAVE TRIED TO GET THIS FIXED BUT SHOULD TRY HARDER. IT ENDED UP COSTING AN EXTRA 80.00 TO UBER TO RENTAL PLACE FROM AIRPORT THEN 40.00 TO DROP CAR OFF AT AIRPORT WHICH DIDN'T FACTOR IN THE ADDED TIME TO COMMUTE FROM AIRPORT TO GET CAR. BOTH COMPANIES ARE AT FAULT IF YOU AS ME.

Great Car for the Price. Bad Location
Pros: Perfect vehicle for a less than economy price.
Cons: The location was a congested and dangerous neighborhood. On a shuttle, it was well over an hour to get the few miles for the airport. When I returned the vehicle, it took about forty minutes to get in.
The access was also sketchy.

Pros: This rental was via City Rent-A-Car in San Francisco on Bush St.. We had a great vehicle and the cost was 1/3 of any of the other rental companies for picking up in downtown SF. They were incredibly helpful both at pick up and drop off (I took an Uber to retrieve it). I had the option of dropping off at the airport for an extra $40 but I decided to Uber to the airport from Bush St. for the ease of being dropped off at the terminal. (And it was less money).
The back seat had a slight stain - but that had no effect on our use of the car and I don't need pristine new if it means an affordable and very comfortable vehicle for 3 days.
I wouldn't hesitate to rent from them again in SF.

Was expecting better.
Pros: Once we actually got the car all went fairly well save how uncomfortable the Nissan Juk was after only an hour driving.
Cons: Only ONE agent at rhe desk when a number of flights arrived. She had issues with the one rental customer she was serving which led to an immediate backup from everyone arriving. Saw 4 other agents wandering around for at least 15 minutes before 2 finally bellied up to the desk to help the people in line. We were 3rd in line and it STILL took an hour after lining up before we finally got to the agent at the desk. For a LARGE International airport location that is just Not acceptable. After that it went fairly quick because we had reservations. The Nissan Juk is by far the most uncomfortable car we've ever rented. On a short haul with mountain roads it might be a fun car to drive but on freeway it's a hard ride.
