Everything except the little water pressure in our bathroom sink. Little water pressure in lavatory
loved the convenience to everything in the garden district and magazine street our room and bathroom was clean and well made, however, the carpet had not been vaccumed-only on the left side of the bed and was still not vaccumed during our 3 night stay-even after requesting maid service-I just put down towels-carpet had grass and debris and king size bed had very worn spots were people had slept that had worn mattress down-Oh, there seemed to be only 2 tiny elevators that hardly fit you and your luggage-and housekeeping had to use same elevator-very inconvenient for them and guests.
Location, Restaurants, Bar Uncomfortable Beds, no extra pillows
Lobby. Room. Tin Roof Bar Difficult to adjust air to cool. Shower removable spray comes off when water turned on and sprays in face and sprayed wife in hair outside when she used wetting entire room.. Over priced and overrated.
The hotel is quaint and historic but updated with all the modern amenities. It's the best of both world's. Also, I don't think I've ever met a friendlier staff. Folks in NOLA are typically very friendly (and genuinely so), but everyone at the Pontchartrain, from the front desk to the bar to the housekeeping staff, seemed delighted to have us there. The Garden district is a little removed from the CBD/Quarter area. Prepare to spend $$$ on taxis/Uber if you want to live it up.
Helpful staff at check in and after; nice accommodations and room features for us given we had an infant with us--refrigerator with freezer compartment, microwave, brought us a pack and play for our infant; and location is nice as the street car is on the street.
Hotel room had huge sq. footage - had a couch and table in addition to queen beds. It was also very quiet, had a good night sleep compared to other parts of downtown New Orleans. With the crazy prices for hotels in New Orleans you can say it was an fairly decent deal, but in other cities I'd say it's a bit overpriced for what you get. The hotel staff was friendly and quickly efficient, service itself was fine, but they were very unprofessional looking - shirts were stained, untucked - and they were talking with each other about non-hotel business in front of customers. Even for a no-thrills hotel, I was surprised by the overall lack of presentation.
Neighborhood seems safe. The trolley rails run right in front of the building; however, the trains weren't operating due to construction. There's a 24hr restaurant across the street and a BBQ & pizza place next door; there are 2 sushi restaurants and a CVS within a 10 minute walking distance. you have to find a place to park in the street as there is no parking provided. We had to circle the neighborhood a few times before we found an open spot.
location, price seemed attractive but delivered less than value Room (24) was a real problem...led to a outdoor patio with two sets of sliding/french doors. Either this "room" is rented as a double at times, but during my stay two separate parties shared the unlocked "main" door to the patio. My door was so worn that it did not lock; this on an outdoor patio--you could just push the door in. Shades worn out; bathroom tiles missing, tub drain corroded, and shower controls did not function well. They do not advertise their check in time well, office staff seemed not too friendly.
Location! Street car stop is right across the street. No need to rent a car at all. Easy access to french quarter.
We loved the location because it was easy parking an very close to garden district which was top of our list and lots of cool places to eat and drink, magazine street. And just a short streetcar ride to the French quarter and so much more. Also the staff was very helpful and everything was clean and very accommodating to our needs. I'll definitely stay again and recommend to friends. One tiny thing, my boyfriends bunk, top, was super squeaky. To the point if he moved a tiny bit it made noise making it hard for him to sleep and disturbed others.
