Upon arrival the agent was very aggressive with pushing an upgrade. We reserved a mystery car which was described as a potential EV or similar. We were given a suburban which would not fit in the garage. She would only allow us an “upgrade” to receive a standard size vehicle. The service and pressure to pay more are insane! If I have a choice in the future I will NEVER rent from Avis again. Complete manipulation especially when having traveled so many hours to show up tired and having no other options. I waited for over 2 hours in line to pick up my vehicle at Avis only to find that none were available. After waiting another 30 minutes, they were able to find me a vehicle. So 2.5 hours of my prepaid vehicle were already gone. Then upon return, I attempted to refuel the vehicle but the gas door would not unlock despite numerous attempts so I was unable to refuel it. This is apparently a known problem on my vehicle (a Kia K5) and could have been a major safety concern if we were left stranded far away from our hotel because of an inability to refuel our vehicle.Reviewed 9 Nov 2024
