My wife encountered a problem in Istanbul that involved an airport transit visa through Canada. I am certain that any other airline we’ve ever flown would’ve assisted us, since it was easily resolved. To Turkish Airlines, this is simply a part of their business model and a chance to make more money. It took about 8 hours of our time at 5 different airport locations to eventually buy new tickets to get back the next day. Our original tickets say: “REISSUE With 200.00 USD penalty. What I didn’t see was the fine print at the bottom: “Turkish Airlines reserves the right to change rules regarding ticket changes and refunds.”. They mean it. As bad as our personal experience was, the real reason we are so appalled is that we were there long enough to see this is the norm for them. In our single day there, we saw at least 100 other travelers going through similar things. The ONLY solution ever offered is to purchase another ticket. We witnessed several people weeping. Many losing control and shouting. Their own personnel were screaming at customers (in a separate office area though, it was all yucks and laughing). These were people of all nationalities. Africans, Asians, Europeans. We were lucky because we had the means to purchase new tickets. Others clearly didn’t. I really don’t know what happened to some of them. One moment was very symbolic of the entire experience. Another vanquished traveler was paying $843 for a new ticket with cash. He handed her $845 but she, of course, had no change. Instead of the $5, he gave her two $1 bills. I had one in my pocket so gave it to her as well. She held my $1 bill up and pointed to the corner which had a very small piece torn off…no ink was missing…and sneered “I can’t accept this. She did this simply because she could. We were powerless. She knew it and reveled in it."

However, it's impossible to get a e-visa to allow Americans to leave the airport to take advantage of this. There is one hotel inside the airport, however it's extremely expensive and booked well in advance. While the service was decent on the plane, inside the airport the TA employee's were very rude and not at all helpful. So be prepared to spend the night on the floor or an uncomfortable bench. Won't fly on this airline ever again."

I was traveling with one checked item in luggage - suitacse, and one personal item onboard - a guitar in a soft case. I'm a professional musician and I've been traveling with this exact instrument in the exact for over 5 years, domestically in the US and all over the world. I've never had any problems with it and I was always treated respectfully even with low cost airlines or on smaller airplanes. There were no problems on the first part of the flight from NYC to Kiev, and then, as I was boarding a the flight from Kiev to Israel, the counter employee at the gate counter (her first name is: Yejzina) - explained to me that if I won't pay an additional 66 EURO immediately, I would not be able to board on the flights with my guitar. I was even more upset to find out that another passenger boarded the flight after me with a guitar and did not have to pay for it. My guitar fit perfectly in the over head cabin and even on a packed flight there was no issue with headroom caused by me. Although I paid and purchased a ticket for this flight, I was discriminated and treated as if I was doing something wrong. I did my best to be responsible and be among the first people to board the flight and instead I was mistreated. The rest of the passengers had exceptional amount of excess baggage in suitcases and bags they wanted to take on board and yet I was the only one who was asked to pay for his. --- As a costumer, I am appalled by the treatment I was getting and I would like to be contacted immediately about reimbursement over my experience and false costs."

How can you not have this option for passengers in 2018 when you know people are using laptops and cell phones more than ever? This is unacceptable. 2) there are no television options on the headrest for passengers. Again, I do not know of any other International Airline that is not allow each passenger the ability to watch movies in front of their seats. The movie option for Ukraine Airlines is extremely outdated. 3) when taking the international flight from New York to Kiev, the food option is not good. It is only one Hot meal served. To give passengers a cold sandwich as a first option on an 8hr international flight is acceptable. It appears to me that Ukraine Airlines is 10 or 15 years outdated. I travel to Ukraine often and I do as much as I can to avoid your airline. Also whenever I'm talking to passengers in other airports and even passengers boarding Airlines we all talk the same about your airline. Most people are disappointed with your Airlines but have to use it because scheduling etc. Ukraine Airlines should update their in flight amenities for the passengers immediately!"

But I did not receive any information from him that the flight was delayed with 50 minutes, I found out that after doing the security check. Cons: "I was delayed in London, and thus missed my subsequent flights to Ankara and to Erbil. Arriving in Istanbul, there was a massive crowd at the transit desk with two Pegasus agents. They spoke little English and did not attempt to create an orderly queue. Instead, they were helping random people. Given that persons on the delayed flight were losing potential time to catch other flights, it was extremely unprofessional and rude to go about managing the issue in this way. I was quite exasperated and was told to calm down by Pegasus officials. Ultimately, I was delayed for one DAY, and forced to flight out the next night at midnight. If Pegasus had been consistent in managing passengers from a delayed flight, I could potentially have gone on to my final destination without a 24 hour delay."

Cons: "The problems began around 2 am on 12-July at the Dubai airport. Our flight, originally scheduled for 4:20 am, was delayed until 6am. I attempted to inquire with the Pegasus staff about the flight delay, and what this would mean for my connection, but no staff were even available at the airport (all check-in activities etc were handled by airport staff). Even after the flight got delayed again until 7am, there were no Pegasus staff available to speak with. The Dubai airport staff assured me that someone was on their way to speak with the passengers, and that since our connecting flights were also on Pegasus, they would be sure to hold the flights for us. We were told that we would definitely make our connections. When we asked about the reason for the delay and to speak with a Pegasus staff member, we were told by airport staff that the Pegasus team had been called repeatedly and nobody was picking up the phone. There was a supervisor that was somewhere in the airport, and they had been told that she would be coming to the information desk to speak with passengers, but I waited for 2 hours for her and she never showed up. We were given no information on why the flight was delayed and what the plan was for our connections. Even at the gate there was not a single Pegasus staff member to assist us. We finally arrived in Istanbul and were directed to the transfer desk, where the Pegasus staff were rude, physically forceful (pushing and shoving), and could not communicate in English. The entire situation was extremely upsetting. Nobody was apologizing for the misinformation or lack of accountability. Nobody simply said, "I'm sorry." I was continuously shouted at in Turkish, I was pushed by Pegasus staff. I was simply trying to find out if my flight had left and if I could be rebooked on another flight. They were insistent that there was one flight a day and they could not book me on an alternative airline. For me, this meant that I missed an important meeting in Germany that afternoon, and that I had to forfeit money that I had put down for a hotel in Hamburg (Euros 124). They told everyone that the flights had left and that we should go upstairs to the hotel desk. However, even to do this, I was forced to purchase a visa (USD 30) to go through passport control. Pegagus has not reimbursed me for these expenses, despite emails, speaking to a supervisor at the Istanbul airport, and filing a complaint in the portal online. Again, at the hotel transfer desk, the staff was rude and unhelpful. We were treated like animals to be herded, and not like humans. Needless to say, I will never be flying with Pegasus again, and I will not be recommending it to anyone. The treatment of paying customers was horrible, and the service was terrible."
