San Juan Antiguo
Staff was very helpful in recommending somewhere to eat. Beds were very comfortable and they were accommodating to my needs. None
Would really like my money back. I have told everyone I know to NOT book through Kayak nor stay at this girl.
The hotel lobby is beautiful. The hotel has everrything you need and service was great. Staff was extremely helpful and very nice from check in to check out. Some areas need repair. Example, the pool is beautiful, but the grout has black stuff on it and chipped. Also, we had issues with card for garage and hotel room. Twice, we were stuck at exit gate of garage. We had to park car and go to cashier and hotel front desk to sync the cards.
Let me start by saying that I am the type of person that reads negative reviews and most of the time ignores them because I feel some people can never be happy or they paid the price of a 2 star resort and expected services and amenities of a 6 star resort, that is not the situation with me and the Caribe Hilton. Also, I am not a newbie when it comes to travel. I cannot possibly fathom why someone would stay at this resort instead of going to an all inclusive in Aruba, Jamaica, River is Maya, etc... an all inclusive would be less than half the cost when considering food and drink (no exaggeration). Let me put it this way, if the Caribe Hilton was an all inclusive, it would be my least favorite all the resorts that I've been to but it is not all inclusive and you get price gouged with food and drink. Way, way, way too expensive for the value. You are not within walking distance to anything worth noting. Some will tell you that Old San Juan is within walking distance, that's bullcrap, unless you are a person that runs a couple miles every day it is not. It is close to a half hour walk. Who the hell wants to walk a half hour in 86 degree weather then walk up and down the hilly streets of Old San Juan all day then walk another half hour back to the hotel? The city did put in an awesome bicycle path so I guess you could do that, we didn't want to have to worry about them getting stolen while we shopping or eating. I enjoyed Old San Juan but if I wanted to visit again, it would be by a shore excursion while on a cruise. Our room was nice and clean. There were not that many people at the resort, wonder why, but you still couldn't get a good seat at the pool or Lagoon. The pools were small and freshwater and I worried because they didn't have chlorine the type of germs and things that were in it. The hotel was kind enough to put free fruit flavored water out for a few hours a day that ranged from refreshing to disgusting depending on the type of fruit. There was a wedding held there the Saturday we were there. An entire section of the beach was closed down and all the hammocks were removed because of the wedding. The hammocks were one of few things i enjoyed. At the end of the wedding, sometime between midnight and 1AM, someone decided to light off fireworks which I typically enjoy but not being woke out off a sound sleep and not going off feet from my room's balcony. The staff were friendly and helpful except when I was asked at checkout if I had a nice stay and I said not really, the girl just smiled and handed me my check. That was the icing on the cake for me, not only would I never stay at this resort again I would never stay at a Hilton again. For the grande finale, this hotel charges you a hotel fee on top of quoted price AND it is not cheap. Not sure if this is legal, but they know you can't do anything but gripe and moan because it isn't like you can walk to the hotel next door. Bottom line is if you are not concerned about money it's great
The hotel was in an old restored villa. It was amazing. The service was great, the location in Old San Juan was close to all the sights, and the atmosphere was wonderful.
The Gallery Inn makes a wonderful impression when you first arrive because there is so much old world charm and so much artwork and interesting items in the very cool space. The location in Old San Juan is also ecxellent. The customer service really falls flat. It was hit and miss with the staff. A couple of the staff were kind and somewhat hospitable, but there were several who weren't. The amenities were also lacking. If you are hoping for comfortable spaces to relax and read a book, you're really going to be disappointed. The breakfast consists of dry cornflakes, doll-size cups for coffee, and sliced bread, and store-bought lemon loaf. We heard a rumor that you could request eggs, but no one on staff mentioned this to us, and the guy in the "kitchen" certainly didn't give you the feeling that he would be happy to make anything...maybe it was his lack of eye contact or his back always turned to guests. We were happy to have stayed there once, but we wouldn't stay there again.
Close to shopping and restaurants and the beach
Location Run down dirty
Located in the middle of Old San Juan. Easy walk to most everything. Hotel was built in 1860, so it's not super modern. Most everything works, just a little slow sometimes. Staff is friendly and very helpful. Would stay again. Wasn't disappointed in much, just understand going in that it's 155 years old.
Location was great
My first three nights here, I stayed at a room with a balcony and it was amazing. It's right in the heart of Old San Juan so you get to wake up eaveryday with the beautiful city noice of the livily city outside. It really is an amazing place to stay for a long time. Try to stay in a room with balcony, you will love it. I absolutely hated that there's never parking available at any time of the day for your rental car. If you don't have a car then this will be the perfect place for you.
The location is in san juan It was very loud staff was unavailable after 1830 bathroom was small balcony is small dirty
