Cons: Why have reservation if there are no cars. That was the starting point of our road trip and we didnt get a car.
Worst Rental Car Experience EVER
Cons: First of all, I booked a Ford Explorer with seating for 7 or similar. They offered me a Nissan Sentra. When I complained, they gave me a 12 passenger express van. 15 minutes after leaving the signal lights and brake lights stopped working. I called to complain and they sent someone out with another 12 passenger express van. When this van arrived, it too did not have functional brake or tail signal lights. The guy went back and brought back a dodge Caravan that was acceptable. This process took an entire day of my vacation to correct. They were more than 2 hours late from the time they said they would be there each time. Between the phone calls and trips out to correct the issue, it was approximately 10 hours wasted. Next, the insurance is a complete rip off. The rental car booked for around $160 for 7 days. When I got there, they wanted to charge me $100 per day ($700 for the week) for insurance and that was the cheapest option they had. Lastly, this entire process happened when I only speak English and they only speak Spanish over the phone, which made this process extremely frustrating.
Cons: I called Hertz three times trying to get cost of insurance for I arrive at the company to rent the car I was not able to get a quote for what the insurance would cost . At the Hertz pick up location I was quoted a price over US$300 for insurance for a two day rental. I then asked about a lower-priced insurance off for and they found a second coat of over $200 for insurance for the two days . Thankfully I have insurance from my credit card so I was able to decline this insurance . After I decline the insurance the person at the counter then wanted to sell me some documents in case I got in an accident for US$50 for a few pages printed material . I felt like this $50 price for a few pages of printed material that the company should’ve provided for free was out and out theft . At this point they inform you that my debit card would not be able to be used for the purchase of the rental . Thank goodness I had additional credit cards and was able to complete the transaction . I do not feel that Hertz should be associated with a company that does this kind of extreme pricing for insurance and does not inform the customer prior to arriving at the location of all of the additional cost .
No cars despite reservation 1 month in advance
Cons: Showed up to the airport in Merida with a reservation made 1 month prior. Said there were no cars, that the situation was "complicated." The desk agent even tried to pretend that I had just made the reservation that day. Shady all around, and it screwed up our trip so we had to completely change our itinerary.
Overpriced, complicated process and poor vehicle
Cons: Check in took over an hour and was at a different location then we were told. We eventually got the vehicle and it was fine to drive the only issue was it was terrible on fuel and cost a lot to refill. Drop off was confusing and we were lucky we arrived early as our booking was until 6pm but on arrival they advised if we had of arrived after 5pm we would have had to take the vehicle to the airport drip off which obviously would have been very inconvient and was lucky we arrived back before 5pm.
Cons: The actual price was almost twice the estimated price. After haggling with the guy at the counter I was able to get it down a bit, but still ended up paying more than expected.

Cons: Made the reservation only to be told they had no cars and I would be put on a waiting list. That was over 5 days ago and I still haven't heard from anyone at Hertz. Will not use them again.
Bait and switch
Pros: Great car
Cons: Car ended up costing 5 times the original quote! I realize there are all ways additional taxes etc but this amount was excessive. We were ushered in and out of 3 different cars and in the end we never received our contract. However prompt, pick up was confusing, due to the unmarked van. Pre booking a car is not necessary this time if year.
