Pros: Spent three wonderful days in Merida Yucatan, visited surrounding ruins. 4 th day went to Alamo and inles than 15 minutes we were on our way to visit other towns and Mayan ruins, all the way to Tulum.
The car was in great shape, clean and consumed little gas. THe roads were in excellent shape. It was difficult no to go above the speed limit, but thank God we did as there were several radar police on the roads...
Cons: TUlum and the coast hotels are wonderful, drove up to Playa del Carmen and like other BIG resorts it was crowded polluted and we left as soon as we could. Cancun, forget it, overdeveloped tourist trap... Totally destroyed nature....what a shame...
GOt back to Merida on time and again very efficient in our cur car return, about five minutes....
WOuld not think twice about using them again....

Cons: I did not take the car, the prices mentiomed did not incluye the Insurance, and the Insurance was expensive, even more that the car itself.

Pros: They didn't honor the reservation when we arrived.
Pros: This August (2016) was my third time renting from Budget Mérida. The first time we rented from here in 2013, the service was good. They picked us up at the airport and helped us with our luggage. The driver even took two trips since it was four of us and our luggage and we wouldn't fit in the sedan he had brought to pick us up with. So he took us to the Budget office which wasn't far from the airport. It is almost literally across the street. The car, a Nissan Tiida, was clean and had decent features such as an auxiliary jack. The employees helping us were friendly and explained the rental policies and insurance policies. They even gave us some tourist magazines with maps to explore the area. Overall, it was a good experience with Budget.
Cons: The second time (2014) we rented from Budget Mérida, we reserved our car, online on Kayak, a few weeks before our trip. When we arrived, we had to get to the office ourselves. Once at their office we were told that we hadn't actually reserved a car and that there were no cars available for renting. We were disappointed but we chalked it up to a computer error or something. We rented a car at a different rental agency. The third time (August 2016) we rented a car from Budget Mérida, we had a reservation for a car at 8:00 AM but didn't get to their office until noon. They told us that since we did not make it there within an hour of the original reservation, our original reservation was cancelled and we had to make a new one. The car we ended up getting, a Renault sedan, was dirty and we ended up paying way more than we would of payed with our original reservation. Both times we rented from Budget Mérida our final cost was higher than the cost stated when booking with Kayak, so be aware of that.

Too late, 25$ more for insurance
Pros: Write on the door : open at 7:00am. Have wait until 8:30 to see someone, i get the car at 9:00.
Moreover, my crédit card offer me an insurance for car rental. But impossible to get the carvwith it, need to pay 25$ a day for minimal budget insurance !
Pros: Agent pleasant,, car ready, short ride to depot. Agent was able to reissue the agreement at the same price with full insurance coverage. The original agreement only included mandatory liability insurance although we though we booked with collision damage waiver. Price came out the same.
Cons: This is an independent National Franchisee. We thought we were booking with National. Everything was fine however.
Cons: We arrived to the rental office and the process to rent the vehicle took +2 hours... First they couldn't find our reservation, then they asked us to show the info for our reservation which we presented via the confirmation email from Kayak but they stated that they needed a printed confirmation (which really didn't make much sense)... We finally convinced them to accept our emailed reservation and of course the rate "could not be honored"... They stated that the rate listed on the confirmation was oniy for the reservation, which really didn't make sense for us... We ended up paying a rate that was 300% higher... In addition to this, we had called the rental office as soon as we made the booking and asked for a car seat for our 1 year old baby boy, for which they mentioned that they had 3 available and it should not be a problem... Of course when we asked for the car seat they didn't have any available and the person stated that they hadn't seen any car seat availability in several months... After all the different card swipes, rate charges, deposit, document signing, opening of vouchers, etc... We came to find out that they actually didn't even had the type of vehicle that we had booked... They could only rent us a "similar" type of vehicle that wasn't even in clean conditions and that when we checked the dashboard the fuel tank was COMPLETELY EMPTY ! Customer service rep responded with a "oh you should be ok to make it to the gas station" completely forgetting the fact that I'm traveling with my 7 months pregnant wife and a 1 year old baby... Anyway, we made it work as we were pretty much against the wall since we had already planned a few tours and visits to different parks and sights in the area... Then finally when the time came to return the vehicle we kept calling the office to ask if we could return this to an office that the company had that was literally two blocks away from our hotel and we couldn't get a hold of anybody... We went to the office near us in person and were told to go return the vehicle at the other location in order to close our outstanding account... When we went to the office to return the vehicle we were told that an additional full day was going to be charged as the vehicle needed to be returned before 10 am, but how are we supposed to know that ? The info is mentioned on the rental document but of course in super fine print... We honestly think that the customer service reps should provide the courtesy of mentioning this at time of pickup... What made it worse was that while we were going thru all this process we saw a pile of documents with rental info from other customers where they had made the return to be right before the closing schedule for the rental office... Again WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EXPERIENCE EVER !! The problem now is that this situation makes us think that Kayak does not validate the quality of the service that is provided by its partners, and this makes us not want to ever use Kayak again !
