I got to the counter only to find the reservation was booked for the wrong day. The counter agent indicated the reservation would be canceled, but apparently it was not. I booked for $91 but I paid $194 when I dropped car off.I was told $3.50 per gallon for gas but I was charged $7,50 per gallon by O’Hare budget car rental place and also extra fees which never mentioned to me by Indy budget car rental place. The car I reserved was unavailable, as was literally every single non-electric car. Why even bother with a reservation in these cases? When I arrived at the desk, there was a 30-minute wait (despite being past 10 at night). The other car rental desks had very short and quickly-moving lines, but not ours. Though an employee was telling those of us waiting on line that the the selection was "limited", we were never told that "limited" meant "only electric cars". I flew into town to deal with a dying family member and the last thing I wanted was to deal with a type of car that I didn't even know how to refuel. Ultimately, the car was as frustrating as anticipated as it repeatedly glitched and wouldn't shift out of park without being toggled on and off. The front desk worker told me that we wouldn't be charged the fee for not recharging under the circumstances, but refused to actually document that anywhere and in fact told me I would not be allowed to rent the car without signing a waiver stating the very opposite. I was told "I told you we don't enforce it under these circumstances," but he got quite rude when I said I needed some documentation. That said, I don't blame the guy at the counter. It's obvious this place is managed by incompetent buffoons and those incompetent buffoons are the ones making the decisions; the people that work at the desk just have to be the public-facing mouthpieces of said buffoons.Reviewed 14 May 2024

There were over 50 people in line at the counter with one worker there. After waiting over an hour in line to get my car, i had to wait another 30 minutes for a car to be ready to go. The staffing was very poor and understaffed.Reviewed 7 May 2024

Vendor sight could not validate my id even though it’s a valid dl from Indiana, the same one that I’ve used dozens of times to get rentals at other locations. To add insult to injury, the vendor refused to help and directed me to call customer support. Then when I contacted customer support I could not cancel my reservation and not could I rent a car because of their inability to validate a drivers license. Kayak is a scam.Reviewed 16 Apr 2024

My experience started with Budget not wanting to match the price on Kayak so I had to wait 30 minutes for a request to process. I asked for a compact car and instead received an F150 and could not exchange it, so instead of 30+ mpg I was getting 19. Also because of the switch in vehicle, I was not able to return it to the drop off location that was located in a parking garage with a 6’2” roof since the F150 at minimum is 6’3” so the return guy told me to drop it off at a closed location. I called Budget customer care to confirm I could do this and spent 16 minutes on the phone repeating over and over the issue before the said “it would be fine.” Got a bill the next day for 2.4x my original price for “keeping the car an additional day. And have spent an entire week on calls with Budget trying to get them to fix the issue and being told at the end of each call “that it’s been fixed” only to receive an updated bill for the same inflated 2.4x price. Every time I call back the new customer care agent confirms “the notes from the previous person say to adjust to the original price” and yet here we are, and I’m waiting to see what will happen next.Reviewed 14 Mar 2024
