The room was clean, there was a big LCD screen and breakfast was included. I was on the 5th floor, the elavator only went to the 4th. The shared bathroom was less than desirable. The room had too much furniture in it for its size, it made it feel a little cramped.
The night receptionist was very kind and attentive. Check in and out was fast. The lobby and public areas were old and not that clean.
Location was good. Breakfast was good. Staff was friendly and the possibility to use the dining room for own food was good. Lighting arrangement in the room and the tap in the wash basin were not good. This is not meant as a complaint but as a suggestion. These are small things but its the small things that matter..
Friendly receptionist on arrival. Location....easy access to trams, supermarket, vondelpark. Bathroom had no shower curtain or shower basin so floor remained very wet for rest of day.
The room was very clean. Friendly and helpful staff. Even breakfast was included. Great value for money
Location was fairly good. Breakfast was not bad. The room cleaning staff was very kind. No wireless internet in the room. Not enough staff at lobby and they can be rude.
It was a good option for affordability. the beding was clean and comfortable the walls were dirty, the bar played loud music downstairs until 4 am so if you wanted to sleep you could only do so during the day
The staff is nice, there is a luggage room, location is good. The shared room I got had no window, no ventilation...
free internet smell in the room, more or less poor breakfast, price
Next to tramline number 5 and in a quiet part of town. Very good value and the room was clean.
close to station and town a bit run down
Friendly, helpful staff, great heating, great bed and a nice room. No soap in the bathroom. Noisy ventilator in the bathroom.
Rate & Location Noise from the street
The room and the room is clean. However, it is too small to stay. It is supposed to be a twin room, but the bed is just a two-level bed, which is different from the figure shown in the web. I would rather stay at the street until it is too late. It is designed for no other purposes but sleep. They do not accept credit card, unless you agree to pay for additional 4% cost. They do not accept traveler's cheques either. This is inconvenient for traveler. They also ask the tenants to pay 10 euro deposit for the room key, which sometimes hurt their feeling.
location The fact it was the nearest thing to a doss house.
Very difficult to find any positives. Even it is in the very centre, it is located next ti the tram stop and church which is ringing its bells virtually all day. Many negatives. Its noisy. Website states breakfast is included in price, but it is not. The shop below hotel is under reconstruction and workers start in early morning. We booked twin rooms but the receptionist tried to give us rooms with double deck beds and said "we call this twin rooms also".
Location is good Stairs to steep and narrow, no lift. Toilet/washroom too small. View to back yard with rubbish.
I think the most important value of this particular hotel is its magnificient location - just in the centre of everything. Otherwise the hotel is miserable. Well there are various things that I didn't like. First, the check-in time on the confirmation letter was earlier than the time they said me on the spot. So I had to wait for 2 h. Then there was a misunderstanding about the breakfast - first info was that the price incl. brealkfast but later it changed. Then there was a total mess concerning the facilities ...
Good location in the centre, double room ok Mess up with rooms and stuck in a single room for the first night- unclean and tiny no room for anything, probably not even big enough if just 1 person staying there. The sheets were dirty so we asked 4 clean 1s and the man couldnt speak english so we had to sleep without a cover. Next day went in our double room was ok clean but the wardbrobe was broke and there wasnt much room.
The painted walls/ceilings.
Location of the hotel vs. price paid. OK it wasn't exactly the Ritz, but what would I expect given its proximity to the centre of a European capital city and the price paid. The room was clean and the staff helpful - I was pleasantly surprised. :-)
the location was good, the staff helpful and polite, breakfast was of a resonable standard nothing more than expected the room was generally run down, needed a coat of paint, the tiolet door did not shut properly, the shower desperatly needed regrouting giving it a very dirty appearance, there was no hot water for 50% of our visit though this was sorted out as soon as we told the staff and past visitors had left belongings under the bed which one would have expected to have been cleaned away before our arrival,if our stay was to be longer than 2 nights we would have tried to find alternative accomodation.
Location fantastic and breakfast was traditional dutch. Thin walls. Heard everything from the party goers to road works. Only good sleep I got was after going to escape the club and being too drunk to stay awake. Good bed for price.
Location The room was not cleaned every day only at the beginning.
The location of the Veteran was right in the Rembrandtplein. Convenient and clean, I had a great stay here. Definitely recommended. As most buildings in Amsterdam the stairs are quite steep, but this is only an obstacle for luggage.
Location, big bath room, informal and nice atmosphere The room was not cleaned every day, noise at night
Just look the nice view from our window ! The location near the center of the city !
location and breakfast The bathroom was dirty and the smell in general was awfull.
Nothing especial If you pay by card(visa, mc) - you will be charged 5% more, despite the amount in your booking. There were no any note about this on hotel description page. I don't like this!
Perfect location at the center of a city Rooms are small and we also found mouse at the room.
Room was super efficient sized. Fun things to see and do right outside the hotel.
Good location. as with all buildings in Amsterdam the stairs are extremely steep.
good location, nice staff The people in my roos smoked weed and that was annoying
the location of the hotel and the bed was comfortable!
The locality to the city and train station. The staff are friendly and helpful. The breakfast drinks choices were limited, they only offered coffee for free but for the price we paid it was still good.
free breakfast, good rate, near to the central station they don't clean the bed or room everyday- they will clean after check- out, no free internet (1.50 for 60 minutes), rooms are too small, shared bathroom was dirty and stinky.
Perfect location, good value, lively atmosphere, pre-check-in and pre-payment
Close to everything. Friendly staff. Mattress a bit thin. More a hostel though with hotel price.
The drink specials The bed was hard and it was hot in the room and it was loud
very well located. Bike rent service is very convenient. wait 10-15min for check-in. chocolate which is sold at the reception tastes not very good.
Well organised, clean and tidy. Staff at reception could be more professional and polite, not chatting among themselves while checking people in - instead try talking to the guest.
I really appreciated the cleansiness of the room. I wasn't expecting this for a hostel. The breakfast was also outstanding. I was a little bit harder to find, but close to the hostel the directions were indicated well. It's a little bit further away from the center than I was used to, but still walking distance. Also right next to the Vondelpark which would be nice if it wasn't raining.
the area and the breakfast
-Location of the hostel was great: 15 minutres walking distance to museums and nice shopping area. -Breakfast was very good. A real Dutch experience. -The hostel rents lockers for 0.20 cent per hour. I think that this should be free for the guests who want to store their luggage until check-in or late departure after check-out. -Having bathroom and toilet in the room can both be handy and disturbing depending on the people you are sharing your room with.
Why the gruop can use free space to keep their luggage? And I have to pay for that. Most of stayokay I stayed is free for keeping luggage. When I arrived earier, I have to wait for checking in
The rooms were large and clean. We were 6 people traveling together, so the personal shower and toilet for our 6-person room was very convenient. a maid even came to empty the trash for us. The hostel is also located near the main road Leidseplein, which has a lot of interesting shops and a lot of activity and leads you to the center of town. great breakfast: buffet style with hard-boiled eggs, meats, bread, yogurt, cereal, fruit. The fee for internet use was too high (1.5 euro for 15 minutes, 3 euro for 1 hour). Furthermore, since the hostel has a limited number of internet access codes, some days it was impossible to buy the 1 hour of internet and we had to instead to buy the must worse deal, the 1.5 euro for 15 minutes.
the variety of travelers staying at the hotel/hostel. the night staff didn't know how to let me into my room when the card reader failed.
Central location in the heart of the red light district Rooms are dark and lack lighting
I liked everything, the value was great and the rooms were trendy despite the old building. The location was AMAZING, really good strategic location to try out everything, specially for first timers, the staff was really nice and helpful and the people that stayed there completely put me at ease with the fact that I was sleeping with 11 strangers (only at peak times though, sometimes to room is breezy during the week), they were all very friendly. The only issue I had was the bed size, I’m 6ft' 2 so the small bed size was a slight issue (hence my low comfort rating). However, the mattress was really comfortable, wish they had a slightly larger one.
Rooms were very cool, I took a youth group of 10 young people, they enjoyed it, great vibes nice staff,
There were an 24hour open reception. The hotel was supposed to be a three star hotel. I would rather have stayed in a hostel! There were fungus in the wall, waterdammege in the seeling. When it was blowing outside there were the strangest sound. Kind of like a coffee machine bobbeling. Further more our safty booth was broken, and the first thing we see at arrival are the police aresting some body in the entrence. A very bad experience!
The staff did not give us a hard time about needingmore towels or sheets. It was in the red light district, but it wasnt too bad. when we got to our room, which was a double ensuite, someone had already been in one of the beds the window was wide open, and the shower was on and the entire bathroom was a mess.
hotel staff - very friendly and smaily people small, dirty room, very poor furnished. It`s not a hotel, it`s a hostel
Location was great, easy access to all sights in Amsterdam, and the room I had was comfortable and clean enough for me. The guy snoring so loud noone else could sleep...
The atmosphere, the location nothing, everything was what you would expect from a budget hotel, busy, vibrant some times noisy but everyone was out there to have fun, not for the old at heart
low cost central location multiple occupancy room
The breakfast and the location were good The bedding was very poor ,the room facilities were very old , the staff could not be bothered to offer any sort of cistomer service .
Very clean. Towel provided. I brought my own flip-flops, soap and shampoo, but none were strictly necessary (they had a funny 'soap stick' by the showers). Comes with breakfast (quite plain though). Eight minutes walk away from any bus stop, restaurant etc. Much further away from Amsterdam proper, though the 14 tram gets you there in ~20 minutes. Either bring a bike (and be a good biker) or get an all day bus pass. Wifi intermittent. Dinner restaurant often closed when supposed to be open.
I was supposed to be a 6 person dorm but it wasn't finished yet so It was 2 and a large space Has breakfast, and enough electrical outlets In each rooms each dorm has toilet and shower Sort of distant from center. No drinking in the dorm rooms? Really?
the location was central, but that's all. the room was small and dirty. the bathroom was awfull and the whole building was in a very bad condition
The pub. Tha old man, named Paul, and a chinese guy, both are very very crampy..
I liked the idea of a bar etc downstairs and staff were nice We did not get the 8 person room we requested. We got 2 four persion rooms, one which had NO window, the other which looked out onto a wall and the room was terrible. The noise all night in the hotel was terrible also.320 for 8 people for one night in those conditions and having to check out at 10am was disgraceful, compared to the other hostels I havestayed in in Amsterdam.
it was very central it was an old building and kind of run down. the rooms were not as shown in the site, the beds were like army beds and the price was too expensive for what it had to offer. it was also kind of dirty
the position of the hotel lack of facilities
helpful staff and price
I only slept there and it was more than enough for me.
Great location and good facilities for the offered price. If you're ok with backpackers hostels - everything will be fine.
The hotel was near to the central railway station and close to the main market and tourist points. On the ground floor is the bar restaurant where you can spent some time for a drink. There was a restanurant bar on the ground floor with a reception on one side. Corridor and stair area was not so clean. There was no tower or soap in the bath room.
Location close to train station Building work being done during day, poor value for money, no soap in toilets or hand dryers
It was low-cost and on a conventient tram/bus line.
the bed was comfortable I didn't like the area
Location is very good in close proximity to shopping malls There is no Air conditioning/cooling device in the room. Internet access in the rooms could be a good plus point. Restaurant does not serve lunch and dinner
very good breakfast, even that it is cold buffet, it was rich the check in has to be until 10 pm, as the hotel is quite far from the center it would be easier if they would gurantee late check in
Nothing. Worst hotel I have ever been to. I will never go back to this hotel. It was dirty and I had an awful stay
medium size room and bathroom tram and bus stop nearby poor breakfast, not too close to city center, noisy neighborhood
Room very small but clean Location was not good. More suited to students and backpackers than tourists
Value for money. Free internet acces. Room very small but considering price no complaints.
value for money the walls because you could heard all the noises from the next rooms
breakfast and always opened Window was little bit broken, bathroom floor not cleaned perfectly and litle bit of noise on the street. But those are small things, nothing important for me.
This is a very new hotel but I was impressed by how quickly they had most services up and running. The staff were very friendly. Breakfast included a great range of food in a modern and efficient facility. The beds were comfortable and the bar was very reasonable too! There is a need to travel by tram into the city. Due to a design problem the floor of the shower encouraged water to settle by the door! This is being rectified I was told.
It is a very clean hotel It is very noisy at night. i stayed Saterday night
Clean, bright, breakfast included. What else do you want for the low price you paid? Yes, nothing exceptional, but nothing really bad. There is a thing i didn't like at all, and it's location. If you look at the map you might thing it's ok, but we failed to find it twice (first time police officers showed us the road, second time - we catched the taxi). The stuff was also polite, but nothing more - in Amsterdam I'm used to much more friendly approach.
They allowed my group to stay in the same room which was nice, breakfast included was a bonus, very clean and safe looking as first time ive stayed in a hostel which i feared before because of the movies! Was a little bit far out from the centre thou
It´s close to downtown and the tram stop is only a minute away. The room was clean and the stuff friendly. We also liked the breakfast. The price could be lower - we stayed in a similar hostel in Berlin and paid 13 EUR per night with breakfast.
Clean, very good decoration, delicious food. It is cheap but the quality is very high. Nothing
Breakfast, temperature,cleanliness, comfort,staff behaviour
The hostel is fairly new. The facilities were clean and attractive. The staff is very inefficient and acts as though they have something better to be doing that taking care of their customers. Since the hostel is new, many of the listed services are still unavailable (namely Internet access). Electrical outlets are conspicuosly absent from the rooms. So if you need to charge any electronics, be prepared to do watch them charge in the hall. Location was pretty out of the way, but not band on bike or tram.
inexpensive, very friendly and helpful staff; great locker system (2€ / 24h; you can open/close your locker as many times as you want; no key that one can lose, only code) Snoring people in my 6-bed-room; Breakfast could be a little more healthy
good position in Amsterdam, inexpensive price I can find , good breakfast, but terrible coffee
The hostel is close to come cool restaurants and bars that are a little away from the main downtown/red light area, so I would definitely suggest checking those out. The free breakfast was cool, though it is only bread, jam, coffee, and tea. Staff was friendly. I was woken up at 4am by a group of travelers who apparently thought they had booked the entire room for themselves. They were not happy that I was sleeping in their room and I ended up leaving. luckily, there was another bed available in a different room and the guy at reception was nice about the situation. From the other reviews I have read, this doesn't seem to be an uncommon occurrence. The rooms do not have many outlets, maybe 2 max, and they are not near the beds at all. there are also no lights aside from the main overhead lights. There aren't any lockers in the room either, though there is a safe at the reception where you can keep things. The 8 person rooms seem to all share one bathroom and shower per floor, so you might have to wait a while for the shower. The first bed I slept in was not very comfortable, but the second one was better.
The hotel has good palace. Shared toilets was clean. Hotel staff was friendly. The rooms are very small and dirty. Breakfast was very poor.
Taking into account the excellent location (just round the corner from the Leidseplatz, and within walking distance from major museums, clubs, bars & restaurants, and the city's main landmarks), this is a great place for the traveller who seeks the comfort & privacy of a single room and an alternative to hostel accommodation. The hotel offers a low-price single room with shared, yet very clean, toilet and shower. Another super bonus is that the keys are in your hands for the entire stay, thus allowing you to go in and out whenever you like, with the maximum degree of freedom.
The staff was very helpful, and the breakfast was very nice. My room wasn't very clean, it had a terrible smell.
excellent location . loads of restaurants and bars close . staff very nice was a budget price hotel could do with a lot of tlc though but the location made up for that tho
