Hospitality, interest and warm welcome from the owners... Very nice breakfast... Excellent location, excellent atmosphere in the room (design & furniture selection was cousy, stylish, warm). Heating was very good, which is really a big deal in freezing Amsterdam winters. Owner's know the city well& share the inside info, they also know what's going on in the city at that moment and they would recommend nice activities according to your interests. They even helped us by keeping our luggage at the hotel after we checked-out -until our train's departure time in the evening-, that way we could tour the city whole day without worrying about our luggage. Tulipa is a perfect boutique hotel. I strongly recommend it, make sure to book in advance:))
I strongly recommend Tulipa. It is newly decorated, clean, comfortable, cozy, well located, balcony, canal view and good facilities (Nespresso in the room, wine and beverage in the refrigerator, all free of charge!!).Whatever you expect for a good accommodation place, you can find it in Tulipa. Moreover, the owners are very nice and charming. Homemade breakfast is awesome and you should not miss it!
Great hospitality, Paula -- warm and freindly -- and Amsterdam made us feel right at home. The location is very convenient to all types of travellers. The B&B was wonderful.
We had a great stay at Tulipa. Great spot right by two canals and easy access by bus from the airport. Very warm and welcoming hosts and a superb breakfast!
Got upgraded to the Canal Room by mistake with great view of the adjacent canal. The owners made us feel very welcomed and spent a lot of time chatting with us and always gave great advice. Lovely room, very modern with high level of extras and attention to detail to make your stay comfortable inc. excellent coffe/tea maker, DVD player, fridge and complimentry beers and bottle of wine. High quality bedding and very modern bathroom inc walk in shower and luxuary bath make this a very romantic home from home. Location is also very good with lots of very nice bars and resturants within a short 5 min walk and easy access to the centre of town by tram or 20 min walk. Overall Excellent and a very memorable visit. The Canel Room has a great view but suffers a little from outside noise as adjacent to a road and would benifit from secondary double glazing, but very minor issue that would not stop me booking again. For total peace try the Garden room or Suite
Everything! Including the dog!!! Made it feel very homely as I am a big animal lover! Owners are warm, helpfull and professional. Will go back whenever I get the oppurtunity! None!
I am a very difficult customer to please. I spend hours online trying to find the best hotel for our trip. We came across Tulipa on booking.com and are so pleased we decided to stay there. Everything was just perfect, from the room (with a huge bathroom), to Jan - who was 'going it alone' as his wife Paula was away for the weekend, to the breakfast (again, thanks to Jan) and the location. The only problem is Tulipa is so great and has such wonderful reviews there probably won't be a room available any time in the near future.
The room was very clean & cozy. Bathroom was excellent. Easy access and very heartwarming stay.
Tulipa is a real wow hotel , the room is spacious decorated with retro Swedish furniture. Breakfast of Paula is the best I've ever have ; fresh orange juice , amazing fruits , organic Dutch cheese , Dutch pancake ,etc. it situated in the heart of Amsterdam ,we could reach all the tourist attraction in 10 minutes on foot. Paula ( the owner of the hotel) is so friendly and helpful , we could strongly feel that she loves what she's doing.
This B&B is centrally located, ideally positioned for walking to many of Amsterdam's attractions, yet quietly tucked away. The bedroom and adjoining bathroom are spacious and well appointed. The hosts are helpful and the breakfasts were delightful. I recommend Tulipa to anyone visiting Amsterdam.
Excellent location. Very convenient way of serving breakfast. We thought it worked out quite expensive for 4 people, given that one bed is a camping bed and we all shared one room. It would be reasonable for two people.
Location, facilities, the owner personality
Excellent location! Practical and trendy interior.Spacious room and kitchen facility are appreciated. Quality of a spare folding bed might not be suitable for an adult.
Stayed at the Kien b&b for 3 nights during June 10, Martin the owner was there upon arrival and was very helpful and friendly. If you are looking for a self contained studio in a good location in Amsterdam then Kein is perfect. It's within easy walking distance of the musuem quarter and has plenty of good bars and restaurants close by. The tram stop is around 5mins walk away which takes you the Dam Square area of the city. We stayed in the basemenet apartment which meant we has access to a pleasent little garden. Would highly recommend.
Perfect position: close to the Museums and few minutes walk to the town center. Friendly and cooperative staff. Plenty of food for breakfast. .
What a find! This studio apartment is in a great location on a very quiet street near the Museumplein and many great restaurants and shops. The studio apartment is very well furnished and is stocked with everything for a great breakfast and a great stay. Martin, the host lives upstairs and is always willing to offer advice about where to eat, what to see, how to rent bikes and interesting cultural items. We loved staying at this place and would highly recommend it to others.
The room was large and full of light. It was an excellent location near the city but yet far away enough for quiet. The flexibility of fixing your own breakfast with all the items provided was very nice. Martin was a great wealth of help and information. I think it just needs a rug or two on the floors for warmth and a DVD player as some music would have been very nice.
Kien B & B was outstanding. The studio was large, beautifully decorated and tranquil. Yet it was walking distance to all sights and an excellent value. It was wonderful to be able to use the refrigerator and stovetop. Mary Kien gave great information on restaurants and airport transfer. We hope to visit again soon.
Friendly landlady, clean studio, in the city,
We were traveling with our adult daughter when we stayed at Kien. Her bed was in a different section of the apt. which afforded the maximum privacy for 3 adult family members in a one room studio. Although the kitchen and bathroom were compact, they were more than adequate for our needs. We found the apt.well stocked, including umbrellas and maps. But best of all were the little attention to details provided by our host, Martin. The day of our arrival, there were some cold drinks and beer in the frig Each day when Martin restocked our breakfast items, he added special goodies for us based on what he had noticed we enjoyed such delicious pastries and sweets. One evening we found a bottle of wine. Bonus - Martin speaks English fluently. Wished there had been an electrical outlet near a mirror. Even though Kien is on a side street, it is noisy at night - but so is everything in Amsterdam.
Great location and view from our "white room". Room decor very tired(needs a lick of paint)as the "white room" was more chewing gum white.Facilities very basic.Breakfast was 3 bread rolls and some fruit.Host seemed more interested in other projects than looking after guests.
the location is right in the centre of the red light district, close to all shops, the rooms was really unusual and chic
Perfect location in the city. 15 minutes walk from Centraal Station. White room: more hangings to hang the clothes would be solving the problem where to leave all your stuff. A shelf in the bathroom is missing-there is no place to put your cosmetics.
location, room design, atmosphere
location, clean room, wifi, nice hosts. Breakfast (it was ok but had no cheese, meat and milk). The price was too high and the room was old.
The host/owners were courteous and polite and the room was situated centrally The Room was small and basic to the point of being "Spartan"- there was no wardrobe or even a chest of drawers. The squeeky bed consisted of a matress in a hole in a raised platform of painted floorboards adjacent to a window through which the continual din of Amsterdam's red light district emantaed all night long. I have visited Amsterdam eight times over the years and have never before had such a disappointing experience with accomodation. I had to vacate the premises after one night and seek accomodation elsewhere. I got two insect bites - first ever for Amsterdam - which I noticed on the morning after staying in this room. I can't say for certain that I received them in this room but I can't imagine anywhere else I might have received .
Our host Joost was exceptionally friendly, welcoming and helpful. The room is very small and basic, but that's ok. During weekends it can be quite noisy, because you are very close to the red light district and there are a lot of people walking at the canal.
Location is great, staff very kind and available. I don't think the price is reflected in the quality of the room.
An excellent place to stay in the centre of Amsterdam. Perfect location, good rooms and a very friendly reception by Joost & Dennis. Most recommended.
Very good contact with Ieke , the owner ! Nice place to visit Amsterdam and nice recommandation to do the best in this great city. The space for breakfast is really so tiny... ;-)))
The staff of the hotel. The couple that owns the hotel are very nice and most helpfull. I was not told that I should pay for the parking and that was a little expensive. They charged me 10,00 euros extra, but...........
The B&B was well located and the owner was very friendly. It was clean and modern and the bathroom in particular was well appointed. There was only really space for two people to eat breakfast at a time. This could be a problem if all the guests wanted to eat at the same time.
Simply perfect - better than we could ever have imagined.
Being close to the city centre They are quite a few animals for such a small place and it would have been nice to be told in advance. Two of them are parrods who keep squeaking during the day what makes impossible to have a nap. Also it's a complicated operation to get out through the main door because of the birds flying away. The room was very small and hot and during the stay of three days the towels were not changed even once.
The owner is wonderful. The rooms are excellent. The bed and bathroom could not be better. The Kitchen is well stocked and easy to use. Everyone was wonderful. Our only regret was that we were not staying longer. It was a restful, well considered, and fun place to stay. The owner really knows what travelers want from a Bed and Breakfast. Everything that is great about Amsterdam is close, and there are many excellent restuarants nearby, one is right across the road. A great place to stay, we cannot wait to return.
Ieke was an amazing host, she is so chilled and very helpful. The b&b is spotless, the rooms are lovely with en-suite bathrooms. There is a real family feel to the place, it's more like staying in a friend's house than a hotel. The location is great, the Leidseplein is a few minutes walk away and the tram runs on the next street so it's very easy to get around. All in all a great experience.
Size of the room, location, interior, free Internet access Room's noise insulation should be better: a little bit noisy in the morning because of people movements in the lobby
west violet is well situated and also paceful. if i had the chance to go back to amsterdam i'd surely return to this hotel
The self-serve Breakfast was great. The location was central but still quiet which allowed us to easily walk to areas of interest but still get a good night's rest. The lighting in the room was a bit dim during the rainy weather, but would have been very cozy on sunny days. I did receive some unknown bug bites, possibly that have entered from the unscreened window.
Room: excellent, Bed: excellent, 24/7 kitchen use: excellent, Wifi: excellent, Design: excellent, Staff: the most helpful and friendly :)
Bed and Breakfast have been great!
Nice location on quieter side street, in close, but lesser trafficed area. Staircase may be steep for some. Black simulated leather upholstery
Central location, proximity to other facilities, quiet.
I can really recommend this place.Very good location in the city with cosy restarurants nearby and Frank take care of you in a nice way. We had a large room with a balcony to the backyard, where we could sit and take a cup of coffe or tea. The "guests kitchen" was at the same floor as our room and there we made our own breakfast at the time we liked. This was really good. In the kitchen was also a computer you can use.
It feels like being at home, while being away. The staff (the owner) is very helpful and you get practically individual attention from him. Whenever you need anything, he is there. It is also sweet to have access to the kitchen at all hours of the day and night. Rooms are also kept in top shape. Bed very comfortable.
The location (no tourists) and freedom of staying in a smaller place felt like a home away from home
high level of hospitality; location is excellent; the principal's tips for restaurants, points of interest, etc. are great!
