Car rental at Tokyo Haneda Airport

Tokyo Haneda car hire companies will request an international driving permit if you are a foreign national. This must be obtained in your home country in advance of your trip and can be arranged through your licensing agency for a small fee. You can then drive with this permit in Japan for up to 1 year. You must be over 18 years of age to drive in Japan. Remember to also travel with your original driving license, a credit card, and valid passport as additional ID and for payment.

You can find Tokyo Haneda Airport car hire outlets in all three terminals of the airport. In Terminal 1, you will find the desks in the Arrivals lobby on the first floor, 1F, near to the Baggage Claims area. In Terminal 2, you can find outlets located in both the north and south ends of the first floor terminal lobby and in Terminal 3, they are situated in the Arrival lobby's second floor, 2F. Be aware that the offices close at 20:00 in Terminal 3 and between 20:00-22:00 in Terminals 1 and 2.

It is possible to take a shuttle service to the car hire facility, which takes around 20min. Nissan, Europcar, Enterprise, and Times all offer this service. Enterprise car hire offer a free pick-up service between the rental office and the terminal, which you can arrange at the car hire counter in the Arrivals Terminal. The shuttle service will then transport you to the rental office to complete your booking. This is perhaps the easiest option which will save you having to navigate your way through the busy airport terminals.
