Pros: The pick-up process was a disaster to say the least. I went to the ATL airport to pick up and there was no staff at the desk. I waited for over 45 minutes, including while on the phone with customer service for over 30 minutes before somebody showed up and, without apologizing, said they'd forgotten to put out a sign saying their office had moved to a new location. When I arrived at the new location, again the staff did not acknowledge their mistake. On the way to return the call, there was a line of 10+ with one person working, and no sign to indicate where to drop keys. Overall, while the price of the car was good, i will be using a different company going forward as it was such an unpleasant experience to rent with Sixt.

Pros: Staff checking in did not disclose that I am being charged 3 days for 2 day reserve due to taking the car 30 mins earlier. If so I would have waited. I only found out after going through the small print items afterwards. It seems the staff who check me in did not really care to show me the details including the total cost, but just telling me to stick my credit card into the slot.
I also asked that type of car change to another car (I originally tried to reserve), generally because Kayak misdirected my order to a different car by whatever glitch in the system, and when I asked to change over the email to Sixt, they said that is fine for just $4/day additional. I said fine and sent the required details.
No reply, and no change. So when I asked about this to the staff at desk, he had no clue, even looking at the email from Sixt. He said $25/day more. I declined.
Is this how Sixt trick people to use their rental service? bait and switch?
(I have earlier rental complaint which I will write in that review - jist is that they never had the car I reserved (Mini Countryman) on the lot! Then tried to make me take Jetta, and I had to upgrade to Equinox because I needed an SUV...
Cons: When you order, do NOT pay upfront, and ALWAYS select "free cancel" plan. ALWAYS check the type of insurance the package covers (LDW - loss damage waver; SLI - supp liability). Some packages cover these two which Sixt wanted to charge ~$45 per day(!). I you use some rentals or intermediaries, they cover all inclusive to price (look for "$1mn coverage", "no deductible on damage"). I had to buy these two for about $20/day. Sixt does not respond to emails quickly, unless they can add sales pitch like "and I see you have coverage, but we can provide coverage for $55/day" You will NEED insurance in all cases, so take that into consideration. To Sixt: your system and customer service is atrocious. I got ONE email reply for asking for change in car type because the system screwed up and gave me a wrong car. And the person who sent the email NEVER DID ANYTHING! What is the purpose of your CS is nothing is done? Also, train your staff to EXPLAIN the costs you are charging - detailed enough to know if I am being wrongly charged. The staff may not have known, but that is a problem of overcharging, and if he did know, that is fraud. It is HIGHLY UNLIKELY I will use Sixt again, unless I see apologies and refund for the wrongly charge amount.
Pros: The return process was quick and the clerk who received the minivan was helpful in directing us to our flight. I wish i knew his name to commend him.
Cons: I tried calling Sixt for days to make notes about my reservation finally got through and requested a Mini Countryman as our preference. Upon arrival we waited nearly an hour to speak to the clerk in booth to find out they do not even carry Mini Countryman and was told it’s the 3rd party vendors who are misleading and overselling vehicles. The fact that they don’t even carry the vehicle listed on their site was not disclosed when I spoke to someone days before. This was the only reason we selected Sixt in the first place. We were told the only car available in our class was a minivan or a luxury upgrade for an additional $210. We felt strong armed to take the minivan. I was then told over $200 was going to be held for about 10 days as a deposit which was never disclosed either. The minivan was not clean and I personally had to sanitize. The car drove fine until the next day when the tire pressure alarm went off. We filled the air and monitored it. The nail in the tire seems to be there for quite sometime and gone unchecked. It was unnerving to drive around nearly a week not knowing if it was safe. Lessen learned never rent from 3rd party vendors nor from Sixt, pay more for a reliable car and take the red eye to ensure the vehicle of choice in the morning.
Cons: Their customer support was awful. They claim to have flexibility in the case of COVID, but don't allow any refund if you prepay for your car. When the event we were attending was canceled due to COVID, they wouldn't help us out at all. And when we tried to reschedule, we got slapped with a bunch of rescheduling fees. We had to go through their slow and unhelpful customer service people to move the reservation to an ambiguous future date in the hopes that we'll have need for a rental again sometime in the next year. It was a long miserable process and I won't be using SIXT ever again.
Pros: Great price.
Cons: Reservation pickup was for 11pm. Arrived at the airport rental center on-time and found the service desk had closed at 10pm. No communication about this whatsoever. We had to rent another car that night, which cost us double, bc we had no choice but to take what was available. Not happy.

Cons: Location not staffed. Had to go to garage pickup to be helped and computer did not function correctly, so they could not produce a contract to review and sign. Location manager was very helpful and easy to work with.
Cons: Arrived on time to find no cars at Atlanta. Guidance from the supervisor was call the toll free number, Cancel the reservation and try another provider. When I saw a car arrive for turn-in, I asked if I could wait until it was prep’d and took that route, 2 hours later, was able to head out. Had confirmation # for a car, seems odd they couldn’t maintain an inventory but told this is not uncommon for most carriers in Atlanta...2 days into visit, supervisor called, apologized, & offered a 10% discount of my charge...all good.
Pros: The vehicle was close.
Cons: The car was not clean and not close to the level of car indicated. The car had 5500 miles on it and was filthy inside and reeked with Smoke, and Marijuana.
Cons: should have received a full refund - will never use this company or site again
