Pros: Location was perfect for us, right in the middle of the city, across street from subway and bus. Took train from airport which dropped us at hotel doorstep. Hotel staff was delightful, booked great seats for opera at new opera house. Rest. in hotel great.
Cons: Buy a Oslo Pass to get into all museums and all public transport.
Located in Central Oslo, this luxury hotel is within a 5-minute walk of National Theater, Parliament, and National Gallery. Karl Johan Street and Royal Palace are also within 10 minutes.

Pros: Great breakfast, very nice and large rooms, comfortable beds
Cons: Hallways a bit stark. No view from window
Pros: Close to the airport, 10 min walk. Close to the train 5 min walk. Free shuttle to airport. Taxi to central station was cheap, 160 kroner.
Rooms are clean. Bed was comfortable.
Cons: Breakfast was not included in room, 99 kroner extra.
Shower was tiny. So small I kept hitting the control for hot and cold water.
Thon Hotel Opera offers a great location, putting you within just a 10-minute walk of Oslo Opera House and Oslo Cathedral. Guests can visit the fitness center for a workout or grab a bite to eat at Scala, which serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. A bar/lounge and a terrace are other highlights, and rooms at this upscale hotel offer flat-screen TVs and minibars.
Pros: We were supposed to stay at the Apotek Hote. We arrived early in the morning from an overnight flight from Seattle. The staff was so kind and got us into a room right away at the Bristol Hotel next door. They also wanted us to have a quieter room because of the Pride Celebration that week-end. Loved the location and the kindness of the staff, because I ask a lot of questions. Chris
Pros: The breakfast buffet was excellent. Room was well-appointed with wood floors and very nice furniture. Everyone we dealt with on staff was thoroughly professional. The lobby was impressive.
Cons: There are a lot of rooms and the hallways all look the same, as do the rooms. No big problem, but if you're looking for somewhere with period charm, you'll be let down.
Thon Hotel Bristol Oslo offers a fantastic location, putting you just a 5-minute walk from Karl Johan Street and National Gallery. Guests can indulge in hot stone massages, facials, or body treatments, and Hambro's, one of 3 restaurants, serves light fare. There are 2 bars/lounges and a fitness center, and rooms at this upscale hotel offer LED TVs and minibars.
Pros: Location was convenient and quiet. A bit away from the city center but easy bus/tram ride away. Breakfast was good. I found the little shower enclosure ingenious. Shows you can have a functional bathroom in about 20 square feet. Staff was helpful
Cons: Room was pretty small, but probably in line with other Scandinavian hotels.
Pros: Rooms were very comfortable with helpful staff. The breakfast was a nice variety of foods.
Pros: friendly staff
Cons: hypocritical staff

A landmark in the Norwegian capital since 1874. The Grand Hotel remains the city's best address is known for its splendid location, lovely guest rooms and public areas. A complete range of services, Palmen our restaurant, roof-top bar Eight with fabulous views and 18 elegant function rooms.
Pros: Clean, friendly staff, great WiFi, perfect location across from train station and main tourist road (Karl Johan Gate), close to many tourist attractions, room has a minimalist desk and chair for laptop/writing/books, etc. Was satisfied with my stay - being next to the train station and main subway station is perfect for getting in and out of Oslo as well as exploring the city by public transportation (and walking everywhere by foot is easy, too).
Cons: In less expensive cities could get more for your money (but Oslo is very expensive in general). Rooms are small but not too small for those just wanting a place to sleep. Very few amenities (e.g. no daily room service except for a fee, no breakfast, etc.).

Pros: Centrally located and large high quality room in a lovely old building.
Cons: We had a room on the road which was a bit noisy at chucking out time so not the best nights sleep
Pros: Everything is clean. Recent fresh renovation has the Hostel/Hotel looking tip top from bottom to top. Beautiful lounge. Kitchen. Sheets and towels are Included. Sink in room. Lockers in room (Bring own lock). Seperate room for showers and toilets, keeping your shower low key. Everything was wonderful.
Cons: The price.
Pros: I liked the standard of cleanliness.
The breakfast buffet in the morning.
The access to a washer AND dryer.
The proximity to attractions.
The outside architecture.
The separate dorms.
The small size of the dorms.
The option to have ensuite dorms.
Cons: The stark white halls
That the lights were always bright in the hallways at night when others came into the room.
Cons: Twelve strangers in a small cramped space. One chair in the room with practically no place to sit even to put your shoes on. Not sure what all the rave reviews are about. Cleanliness is average for a hostel. Received polite service from one representative, the other could not have cared less if he was there or not. Free Internet did not work for me but I did not pursue the issue to fix it and I noticed others were using it. Average breakfast.
Pros: Friendly, clean, good breakfast
When you stay at Saga Poshtel Oslo Central, you'll be in a great location, within just a 10-minute walk of Karl Johan Street and Parliament. Free perks include buffet breakfast and WiFi. Also, Oslo Cathedral and Oslo City Hall are within just a 10-minute walk.
Cons: We arrived after being on the road for 10 hours with a confirmed reservation only to be told at 11:45pm that they had made a mistake and there weren't any rooms available for us. After charging full price to my AMEX, they never made an attempt to contact me via email or phone and tried to repeat that they would pay for a taxi to and from the other hotel property they had transferred the reservation to without my consent. I go online and see that that hotel was charging half the rate of the Vulcan. Frustrating and highly disappointed by the whole ordeal. Cherry on top: when we got to the other Scandic 20 min away, we were greeted by a bathroom what wasn't cleaned and there weren't house keeping staff around until morning. Wouldn't recommend such an unprofessional chain if you have a choice.
Located in Grunerlokka, this hotel is within 1 mi (2 km) of Mathallen Oslo, Karl Johan Street, and Munch Museum. Royal Palace and National Gallery are also within 1 mi (2 km).
Pros: The hotel is in the train station so it is extremely convenient. Go down two escalators and when you find the "hall of restaurants " walk to the end by Bella Italian and the hotel check in is right there . It takes a couple of minutes to find the entrance but so worth it. Staff was very friendly.
Pros: The Bathroomdesign
Cons: The breakfast restaurant was much too small and has a bad floorplan-design. The buffé is located in the hallway towards the restaurant, therefore it is very bad organized and you get quickly annoyed by
the other guests.
Pros: The fact that te hotel is located in the train terminal , it's very convenient for people who are arriving by train. The room however is extrmely small. My husband and I had trouble finding the space we need to set up our luggage. Similar to a couple of other hotels we stayed in other cities in Norway, there's no air conditioner and only 2 towels were provided. If you have long hair or like to take more than one shower a day, it may be a hassle. The hotel would be good for solo traveler.

Pros: The place is quite ice with a wonderful breakfast and competitive rates, but...
The hotel uses a rope style security chain on doors that is child proof.
My mother Is a strong retiree but couldn't open the contraption
She became so afraid, she pulled at it so hard, the system failed only because it is simply nailed into a thin decorative door frame.
Thank goodness no fire for those trying to get out, or any burglar who can easily break in (if he has the strength of an 85 year old.

Pros: Great location, within 2 blocks of central station downtown Hotel is 100% computerized- you check in and out on a terminal Very easy and efficient.
Cons: The hotel rooms are very small, like staying on a cruise ship, economy class. The rooms are very spartan with a small beds, a desk, a chair and small bathroom. Otherwise, they did provide a good wifi signal. If you don't mind clean and spartan, this hotel would be great when in Oslo.
Pros: proximity to the train station
room was spacious enough
Cons: No kleenex
Located in Central Oslo, this hotel is steps from Cinemateket and Oslo Cathedral. Karl Johan Street and Oslo Opera House are also within 10 minutes.
Pros: Staff was very friendly and helpful, room was clean, quiet, comfortable. Free laundry ( need your own detergent and a 20 kroner coin which you get back). Gym looked decent too. I would defibitely return.
Pros: The tortoise show.
Cons: One of the women at the front desk.

Breakfast is served daily in the RBG Bar and Grill. Free Wireless Internet.
Pros: How well the staff treated our children and their incredible breakfast!
Cons: They do not provide any shuttle service from the metro. Oslo has a very convenient metro system so we did not rent a car. The front desk told me it was a short walk from the metro. It was a tough up hill walk with our luggage and family.
Located in Holmenkollen, this spa hotel is within a 5-minute walk of Skiforeningen and Holmenkollen Ski Jump. Holmenkollen Ski Museum is 0.7 mi (1.1 km) away.
Pros: We really liked the beds and the breakfast, so much so that we stayed here our 2nd time in Oslo again!
Cons: A bit noisy again, able to hear your neighbors frequently.
Pros: This hotel was more than I expected from a budget hotel. The beds are extremely comfortable and the breakfast is fantastic!
Cons: The rooms are a bit small and you can hear your neighbors a bit, but to be expected with a place that has so many rooms.
When you stay at Thon Hotel Munch, you'll be in a great location, within just a 10-minute walk of National Gallery and Karl Johan Street. Guests can keep active with onsite mini golf, and free perks include WiFi and buffet breakfast daily between 6:30 AM and 10 AM. Also, Parliament and Oslo Cathedral are within just a 10-minute walk.
Pros: The staff went out of their way to help us ..
Cons: Out of the way. Loud construction. Maids started knocking at 8 am. No food close by.
Pros: Great food...breakfast was fantastic and had a wonderful dinner...better than in the city
Fairly priced, not the worst location, but also not central. A very worn and smelly feel - less than expected for a 4* hotel.
Pros: Its price and staff was nice. Room was quite silent at night, which is a plus.
Cons: Cheap interior, feels worn and unclean. Smelly beds.
Conveniently located in the center of Oslo, just minutes away from the main street Karl Johan, the Scandic St Olavs Plass is a short walk from the train station, and near the Parliament and Royal Palace.
Pros: My sister and I were so surprised that we got a good deal on such a cool hotel! It's a very nice boutique hotel that made us feel very comfortable. The floor in the bathroom is heated, the decor is very fresh and hip, and the bar and cafe downstairs are one of the many great places to eat in the neighborhood. I highly recommend staying here!
The one thing I would say is don't get breakfast delivered, it's not worth the money for what you get.
Cons: The one thing I would say is don't get breakfast delivered, it's not worth the money for what you get. It's mostly bread and some meat delivered to your door, not a hot breakfast, and you can find a better or comparable deal elsewhere, even in the cafe right downstairs.
Also, while the Sentrum is a short bus ride/30 minute walk away, Frogner is a more expensive area if you're looking for shopping.
Located in Frogner, this hotel is within a 15-minute walk of National Library, Vigeland Museum, and Frogner Park. Gustav Vigeland Sculpture Park and Royal Palace are also within 1 mi (2 km).
