Pros: Customer assistance was excellent.
Speedy, friendly, and knowledgeable
Pros: They didn't push the insurance too much. The place was clean. People were very respectful and prompt.
Cons: The sites said that the rental was in the airport but we had to take a ride. Not a big deal but it s best to be transparent.
Pros: Location was near the airport.
Cons: Car was advertised as $94 for a week. I was forced (not asked) to pay for extra "mandatory" insurance of $16/day. This increased the total to $204. I was told by the representative at National Car Rental at the Cabo San Lucas airport that I could not rent the car unless I paid the extra insurance fee and that it was Mandatory. None of that information was on the site where I made a reservation. I believe the representative gave me false information and I'm going to report it to the Washington Post travel section. I took pictures of the agreement I had to sign.
Pros: Other than the free shuttle to the rental facility, and that there was a/c in the office; NOTHING!
Cons: National makes it seem like they have the best price online, but when you get to the office they hit you with MANDATORY insurance fees, that make the price of the rental SKYROCKET! The cost of the rental went from like $86 to OVER $300!!! STEER CLEAR!!!
Great value but room for improvement
Pros: Very friendly staff, car was ridiculously clean, and spent 15 minutes to get the car/8 min to return the car.
Cons: A lot of paperwork and signatures. Insurance figures tripled the overal rental cost. While still a good value, I didn’t expect it.
The more you know...
Pros: The price I saw on my online booking! $10/day for a 2016 Chevy Malibu! Returning the car was quick and easy!
Cons: The ACTUAL price I had to pay when I arrived because Mexican law requires the purchase of some Mandatory 3rd-Party Liability insurance which added 200% to the price of my daily rental. An additional $20/day. Customers should really be informed about this in advancen, as this can easily be taken into consideration during the online booking process. Also, my Emerald Club number was not connected to my reservation and I really had to negotiate HARD with the agent to get them to add it to my account. Was there an option to do this during the reservation? I don't recall. As a frequent National/Emerald user this was disappointing. Finally, clearing Mexican customs & immigration was less hassle, paperwork and time consuming than renting a car which I would have found hilarious if it wasn't so annoying. Would give 0 stars if I could! Also, the shuttle bus from the terminal has back doors for a reason. The staff should f***ing use them instead of piling everyone in the side, then cramming the luggage in so all the passengers are stick inside. Let the people go in and out the back DUHHHH!!! Okay... rant finished, but seriously those are legitimate points!
Cons: Advertised as $83 for the week but ended up being almost $300 with "mandatory" insurance. Bait and switch
Mexico upcharges and there's nothing you can do ab
Pros: New car, clean, works.
Cons: They claimed that the car I reserved wasn't available (it was) and charged me extra $20/day for a crappy car, plus the insurance surcharge. This was very expensive.
Price doubled at counter
Pros: Booked online for 6 days economy for 234.00 at counter total was 567.00... Not reliable pricing and 1 hour wait for them to prep. Car
Cons: $50 car rental with $450 mandatory insurance that then they tried to offer me discounts if I only went to several TimeShare sales. How unprofessional. I will NEVER use National car rental again!
