There were no instructions given for the car return which took us over 45 minutes and should have taken 10 minutes. That was a major pain for sure.Reviewed 13 Mar 2026

The car was an upgrade in great condition with NSW plates so we were really delivering it back for Hertz so the $300 one way charge was pretty ordinaryReviewed 12 Mar 2026

Hertz added $81 in charges for no apparent reason. They’ve claimed to have adjusted, however I’ve no confirmation.Reviewed 11 Mar 2026

Liked quick pickup - bus was waiting when walked up - otherwise would have taken Avis Better - only 3 cars available upon pickup - settled for large minivan none of choices were good. Checkout at gate - attendant could not figure it out - very frustrating - had to go back to counter - they added extra charges that I needed to get taken off - still not sure that I was not overcharged. Return in Charleston was frustrating - no clear signs indicating how to get to rental return - navigation couldn't figure it out with the construction - very long walk with bags dragging to get to terminal - Bad Experience I wished I had stuck with AvisReviewed 10 Mar 2026

Process was simple. Wished I got a Corolla. Forgot to refuel which caused a delay. Glad I found the Kayak rate.Reviewed 10 Mar 2026

Traveling with a disabled daughter, I rented from Hertz because the ad said it was in the airport. However, It was a train, two elevators, and at least a mile away. When we finally got to the counter, we had to wait for over an hour in line. Then I was told I need a toll scanner, an extra driver charge, a deposit, and in 5 minutes my $ 326 rental for the week was over $700!!! False advertising in every respect. I will never rent from Hertz again after being a customer for over 30 years! Who is running this business?Reviewed 9 Mar 2026

Hertz would not honor the confirmed reservation that I made. The inability to make adjustments to my trip cost me additional money. Horrible!Reviewed 8 Mar 2026

I experienced several issues with this rental. The electric vehicle I originally reserved was not available when I arrived, so I had to take a manual car instead. Later, when extending the rental, I switched to an automatic vehicle. During the trip it was very difficult to manage the reservation. My booking could not be found on the Hertz website or on Kayak using the reservation number, driver’s license, or my last name. Because of this I could not manage the booking online and had to try to reach the rental office by phone many times. The automated phone system was only in French and did not allow switching languages, which made it difficult to understand the options. I even had to purchase a local SIM card in order to try to reach the branch. When I finally spoke with a representative and later visited the branch, they kindly helped extend the rental and exchange the vehicle. However, the additional charges related to these changes were not clearly explained. I was also surprised to see charges such as a fuel fee despite returning the car with a full tank. I am currently contacting Hertz to review these charges.Reviewed 7 Mar 2026

Where to begin? Picked this car up around 9:30pm. I had already driven away from the rental facility when I noticed a couple of problems with the car. Firstly, the petrol tank was not full but only 7/8 (the gauge is misleading at first sight). But worse than that was that one of the safety features (the Active Lane Management system) was not working at all and flagged up a warning that the vehicle needed servicing to repair it. Then, when returning the car less than 18 hours later, the system at the Hertz counter would not initially accept the return of the vehicle due to excessive mileage of some 21,000 miles that I supposedly had driven in those 18 hours. This turned out to be a mistake on the outgoing mileage which instead of 23,000 had been logged into the system as 2,000. This was eventually resolved by the staff at the counter, but just added to the feeling that this was a dreadful rental.Reviewed 5 Mar 2026
