Pros: Great hotel for business

7.7
Pros: The hotel was nice overall and the front staff was very friendly and efficient. The hotel seemed very clean and I was always acknowledged by the hotel staff. The hotel restaurant was very good and has amazing views. I did not encounter any problems while I was there.
Cons: I thought the hotel was in desperate need of a refresh or update. The rooms and the entire hotel seemed a bit dated. I stayed on the Captains Deck and the rooms were a bit small and did not impress. The sink did not drain properly. The most disappointing part of the trip was the breakfast which was never more than like warm at best. It come from the kitchen which is far away. The breakfast had 3 warm choices and one was always potatoes that were recycled from the night before. Not sure if I would spend that kind of money to stay at that hotel again.

Pros: Staff seemed to try their best.
Cons: There was a drunk man yelling profanities and slamming doors from 3-4:30 am in the room next door. It also sounded like they were fighting and slamming each other against the walls. Another man banged on our room window from outside multiple times at 4 am. We let the front desk know three times and they finally kicked the occupants out. The pool was completely packed and included 5-10 people swimming in their pajamas and day clothes. Pool is always out of towels, some kid puked on the pool deck and another person started blasting rock music. I would recommend having a pool attendant at this place. The shower door in the room leaks bad and is a potential hazard. Dirty floors, only decaf coffee stocked in room, wall light in shower room didn’t work, and lots of families with unruly children. Will never ever stay here again, worst hotel experience of my life!!!

Pros: Quiet location, great breakfast, conscientious staff, clean adequate parking, very good value
Cons: Rural Alaska communities lack many basic amenities, one being swimming pools. Alaska families like to book with hotels with swimming pools. This brings lots of children as most families are 3 to 5 children. As such it can be somewhat boisterous in the hallways. The doors are heavy and close loudly. The inroom wall heaters are nice but somewhat loud in the fan noise.

Pros: I picked the hotel because of its location, I needed to be near the Alaska native medical center but found that the room was so clean and perfect. One of the nicest hotels I've ever stayed at. The staff was super friendly!
Cons: There wasn't much to like! I wish they had more of a set schedule for shuttle service. And the morning I needed a shuttle to the airport the driver hadn't shown up to work but that's an isolated incident.
Excellent
8.0
Pros: Clean environment. Free breakfast. Calm location.
Cons: There were no locks for the toilet or the bathroom. Apparently this is the case in all rooms (!). We stayed in a 2-bed room with other family members including children. No locks don't make sense at all. I'd not pick this hotel again just for this reason if I'm going with family again.

7.7
Pros: Quiet location, very clean, modern rooms.
Cons: The TV never worked during the entire stay. Staff was notified and I was told that "upgrades" to the system were being made, but apparently they never reached my room. The pool/spa was also closed during the entire stay. For the price you pay here ($200+/night), one might expect better planning when doing work on amenities that travelers are paying for.

Pros: The location is nearby the airport but don't try to walk. It's about a 45 minute one. Bed is comfortable.
Cons: The alarm clock went off twice during the night - once at 3:00 and once at 3:15. Having flown in from 30 hours of travel from overseas, looking for a good night stay was the intention. The staff was unsympathetic and completely removed from the reality of the housekeeping blunder. Having not slept but 3 hours that night, their best offer was a gift card to stay again, stating that "We can't give you a refund - you used it, plus we could have rented the room to someone else." Give me a break.

Pros: Bed & linens were very nice & comfortable. We appreciated they let us check in early after a long drive from the cruise ship in Whittier. Room was nicely decorated & everything worked fine. Location not the best. Walking by the BMW dealer towards the restaurant, a sales lady came out & told us to be careful - it was not a good part of town (crime)? Overall we thought it was too much $$ per night for 3 nights. No deals.
Cons: The institutional toilet was a surprise, since the other amenities in our room were nice. Very loud noise when flushing. The restaurant staff - slow, maybe overwhelmed (understaffed) and incorrect' additions' on the breakfast bill. Sky high prices, too.

Pros: My husband and I celebrated our anniversary here. We booked the 11th floor which is the club level, allowing access to a club room that has 24/7 complimentary coffee, sofa, bottled water and juices as well as light snacks. Also, every morning the lounge provided breakfast and every evening wine, beer and appetizers. We highly recommend spending the few extra dollars to stay in a club room!!
Cons: The hotel does not have a pool and the spa is difficult to get information on as well as access to. Also, there is no valet parking.

Pros: The price is cheaper than the other hotels of a similar nature. (There are cheaper hotels in Anchorage, but I avoid them.)
Cons: When you walk in, it is like walking into a secured facility. After a certain hour, the door is locked and you are greeted by a security guard. There is an attendant watching a huge bank of secrecy cameras. The room is small (but it has a stove, which I guess makes it a suite). It lacked a iron and an ironing board, which I always find important.

Pros: If you're into a pleasant, no frills accommodation in Anchorage without breaking the bank, this is it. The full size fridge/freezer and mini kitchen is extremely handy for a multi day stay. Compared to the pictures online, the hotel exceeded expectations.

Cons: The internet was "down" for three of our four days there and they didn't seem to care about fixing it. Seemed to be a little irritated that I would ask when it was going to be fixed. The swimming pool and hot tub were out of order for 2.5 of our four day stay and again they couldn't tell me when it would be functional and didn't seem to care. We were there with a grandson and the swimming was one of the main reasons we selected this motel. The front desk people were nice but were young and not very experienced or helpful. I believe there is a management problem and generally a lack of customer service. The price also was too high as compared to other area motels.

Pros: We booked a room here because it was listed as pet friendly. We paid and our reservation was confirmed. When we checked in we were told that thefe was an additional fee of 50.00 per night for our dog. This practically doubled the cost for us. We were fortunately able to cancel with a full refund and found another hotel - microtel - that was a little more pet friendly. They charged 10.00 per nite extra for the dog which was much more affordable. I wish these hotels would all list these additional fees when you book

Pros: Super comfortable, but not too soft bed. Air-conditioning! Anchorage suffering through a heat wave & most houses do not have air-con. Accessable to many downtown activities, although it was too hot- we stayed in for the weekend with take-away.
Cons: As I told the staff upon checkout, please consider the extra expense that it would take to install toilet seat covers/lids & do not place the guests towels directly over the "otherwise open" toilet. It could not be too much for the added piece of mind for those spending their vacation (& our Anniversary) in your establishment.

Pros: The room was a nice size and the breakfast was good.
Cons: When we walked into the motel, there were people sleeping on the couches in the entry way with their luggage, children running around in and out of the pool area, screaming and hollering. The pool hours didn't seem to make a bit of difference, and they put is in a room directly across from the pool.

Pros: Staff was friendly when checking in and out. Cheap price, but you get what you pay for here. You have to use your key to access the building after 10 pm which is nice because the area seemed a bit shady. Bathrooms were surprisingly clean. Good for sleeping and not much else.
Cons: Didn't realize when I booked that each room doesn't have its own restroom, you share restrooms and showers with everyone else on the floor, so I avoided showering during my stay as I didn't have any shower shoes. Also no paper towels in restrooms so you have to bring a wash cloth from your room. No housekeeping. Nothing fancy about the rooms, just a couple dressers, fridge, table, folding chair and a bed with 2 flat pillows. Nothing romantic about the place, so don't expect to impress your significant other here. My fiancé says I'm not allowed to book hotels for us anymore after this. If I'd have known what I was getting into would have spent a bit more for a nicer place.

Pros: I booked this place on the fly for a last minute business trip. The room was ~$92 and since I was only staying there for 11 hours, the price was right. The bed was comfortable. The locks on the doors worked.
Cons: When I arrived at 9:30 pm, people were just sorta hanging out in the dimly lit parking lot. The car next to mine had interior lights on with no one inside. There was ~$60 in cash scattered around on the ground by the driver's door. I went inside and told the font desk attendant before she gave me my hotel key and she said she'd look into it. When I arrived at my room, I opened the door and found a pantless man laying in one of the beds. I apologized, walked downstairs and informed the front desk lady after she returned from the parking lot. crime scene. She apologized and asked if the pantless man was, "...at least good looking". I actually thought that was really funny- And this night was just getting stranger! She gave me another key and promised the room would be empty. On the elevator ride up, I got to hang out with two mildly drunk/drugged out early 20-somethings before arriving at my room. The bed was comfy but the heat didn't work. In an Alaskan hotel in October..the heat didn't work. Sigh...so I bundled up, enjoyed the comfy bed while the majority of my fellow hotel guests partied the night away. This is a weird place and if you're not up for that, stay far far away.

Pros: The first room was not vacuumed and to small for the five of us. Fortunately the family didn't complain. We were only there for 12 hours and that was enough. It was just a pace to flop and to allow us to see downtown Anchorage. I should have paid the $70 more for the Hilton downtown. The woman at the front desk moved us immedistely to a larger room with a rollaway bed. She was very pleasant and helpful. She made our stay there bare able . Kudos to her.
"Located in Downtown Anchorage, this hotel is within a 15-minute walk of Delaney Park, Dena'ina Civic and Convention Center and Tony Knowles Coastal Trail. William A. Egan Civic and Convention Center and Anchorage 5th Avenue Mall are also within 1 mi (2 km). Anchorage Alaska Railroad Depot is 22 minutes by foot. "

Pros: Front office desk staff was fairly good. Close proximity to airport (~5 miles). Decent view from our 11th floor window.
Cons: The carpet in the halls were quite stained, our AC in the room did not cool. The bathroom vent fan did work at all. There was a tube of caulk left on the floor. There were several things that were not clean including the bathroom counter and trim, and bathroom vent. The TV remote for the old tube-type TV did not work and the battery cover was just taped on. The staff did bring us a fan to cool off the room. That helped the temperature some, but largely the reason for running the AC unit was for cover noise so we wouldn't hear other rooms or outside noise as well as being able to close the blinds to make it darker so we could get to sleep early for our 2:30AM wake-up time for our flight.

Pros: I booked my room on hotel.com so I paid $57 a night. Stayed in room 1504. For whatever reason I was upgraded to their top floor with a kitchenette, two queen sized beds, and a view of the mountains and water. (I booked a regular 1 queen bed room). The restaurant was really good but very pricey! The restaurant staff is so nice and super great. Food and drinks were tasty! I had the shuttle pick me up from the airport at 3:30am- takes about 20-30 mins for them to get there. They said the reason for the wait is that they were warming the van up (it was warm). The guy driving the van was extremely nice he even offered to make a breakfast run for me! If you're driving parking is easy and right out front of the building. Very close to downtown - if it weren't freezing we could have walked about 3-5 blocks to get to downtown! I would probably stay here again just because I like to travel cheap and this is the cheapest 3 star hotel in Anchorage. I am staying here again in April, will right another review!
Cons: It wasn't the cleanest....the fridge had visible dirt in it. There were random brown splatters on the walls and ceiling. Hair in the bathroom (every where). Toilet and towels were about the only thing that was really clean in the bathroom. I will note the bedding was clean and smelled fresh! There is wonderful looking wallpaper on the walls and in the far corner (next to the bed I did not use) the entire corner of the wall is loose and you can lift it away from the studs in the wall. Every day I was there my key would not work (4 nights). It's kind of a pain to go from the 15th floor to get a new key. They blamed it on us because cell phones deactivate them however my boyfriend had it in his wallet the entire time. I had tried calling the night before my stay ended to see what time the shuttle left in the morning and no one would answer the front desk phone from 10pm-11pm. You can hear everything through the walls. Everything your neighbors do can be heard. Luckily we only had "neighbors" 2 of our 4 nights.

Pros: The price compared to others in the area. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating..
Cons: Our room (213) was atrocious. There was a broken window. We could not put down the window blinds because they would have blocked the air conditioner which was needed to make the stuffy room tolerable. Our room was not clean - we found an empty soda bottle on the floor near the window and a bag of trash under the sink. The instructional decal was missing from our shower so we had no idea how to operate the shower. All in all a very poor experience and a bad introduction to our "trip of a lifetime" to Alaska.

Cons: Was really disappointed with our stay. Had to pay for parking, was issued a parking pass but wasn't guaranteed a parking spot. the staff was rude and not helpful at all. The floors were dirty enough to turn my feet black. We stayed for two nights and didn't have room service. I went to front deck and the guy said the only clean the room if you stay for a week. So I could only get clean towles if I went and got them from the front desk. Had high hopes but was won't be staying here again.

Pros: This hotel was slightly cheaper than other hotels in the area. It had free parking.
Cons: While the staff was well-intentioned the hall's look like they had not been renovated in many years. The room was on the smaller side for a suite hotel. Some people would say that it's in a bad neighborhood because it is near a shelter for homeless youth. That doesn't bother me. I would not stay here for more than one or two nights.

Pros: I liked the location, the rooms were fairly clean, it had a kitchen with cook top and dishes, and the kids liked the swimming pool. It was quiet.
Cons: Parking is and additional $10/night but we were able to park on the street for free from 10pm to 8am. The breakfast was just a few items, such as fruit, packaged oatmeal, or packaged muffins. There wasn't any room service.

Pros: Nothing!
Cons: This hotel is a last resort. The facility is filthy. There were no bath towels, the room stunk and was hot. No screen on the window. I could go on and on. My words of advice...do not stay here. The only good thing is close to airport.

3.4
Pros: Location of the hotel was the only positive.
Cons: Staff courtesy could have been better. The receptionist at the hotel were out of sync with each other. When I asked about the airport shuttle, the receptionist in the evening told me to call them 10 minutes prior for the shuttle but in the morning when I called them 10 min before we had to move on, the other receptionist in the morning told us very bluntly that the shuttle is at fixed time and there is no point calling them 10 min before. Also there were no blankets in the room and it became really cold in the morning.

Pros: Close to the airport, shuttle driver excellent.
Cons: Room had no air condition, in fact the heat was turned on and the room temp was close to 90. no thermostat to turn the heat off. Had to argue with desk clerk to get another room even though there were only 10-15 guest. Musty smell, outdated and dirty.

Okay
4.5
Pros: Room was roomy with a separate living room and bedroom. There was a fold-down bed to accommodate more people.
Cons: The hotel is on a quite busy road so it is noisy at times. The walls seem thin because I heard people laughing and cutting up outside. The internet service was down with no apologies, the front desk simply said someone "was working on it". I worked at nights so was seeping during the daytime. The maid knocked on my door for a long time to be let in despite of the locked door providing the message someone was in there. No "Do Not Disturb" sign available to place outside the door.
