We spent our last night in Anchorage at the Lakefront before flying home after an extended 2 week vacation. I picked the hotel because of the location near the airport. I really wish we had stayed there longer as it was a beautiful hotel with an amazing view of the Lake with seaplanes landing and taking off. There is a bar and restaurant with great views. We didn't sit outside in the patio because of the mosquitos is the only negative. But I guess that is normal for June in alaska.
accomodations room to hot and front desk wouldn't provide a copy of receipt upon check out.
Very nice and clean, nice staff, great house keeping. Rentaviation and missing door lock hook. Too long of walk to room. Need to move location of loby
I was completely offended when the staff photocopied my driver's license and also took my credit card. I was told they do that (photo copy a driver's license) because of some of the actions that have taken place so they need to have this in case something happens - it creeped me out and made me wonder if I should even stay there in the first place! Are the clients so sketchy that everyone is a suspect? They claimed all hotels do that (copy the driver's license) they just don't tell you - I don't believe it - I hadn't had that happen before - I won't stay there again. The rooms were fine - this action is not!
Pretty expensive for a 1 night, no amenities stay.
Room was not clean, too much noise from adjoining room.
We enjoyed everything about this hotel. One of the best in Anchorage!!!
I'm an incredibly high strung guy who demands a lot of myself, so I always know when I travel Alaska that I need to be more present to the amazing geography and lower my standards on the room I'll barely spend any time in while enjoying the outdoors. I travel to Anchorage one a quarter and have noticed that the Starvrating system isn't quite the same as the lower 48 states. With that said I was incredibly impressed with this hotel for its masterful balance of Alaska heritage (complete with animals) and modern hotel amenities. No need to lower any standards, but rather super clean rooms with modern furnishings and space efficient room layout. Staff was chipper, helpful, and really jovial. Nothing notable... However, I had an odd experience. I hydrate a lot on trips and typically go through a gallon a day. One night I ran out of water and I searched the hotel for bottled water, but there were zero options. Every single vending machine in the hotel was stocked full of soda and multiple brands of energy drinks. I ended up driving to a nearby gas station for some H2o. Not a big deal...
The bathroom didn't have a fan. That made me sad. The TV wasn't facing the bed either. Wtf is up with that.
Nice place, and I travel a lot. Great shuttle service. Nice and helpful people at the front desk, thanks.
No reward points given because it was booked online with who they call third party.
Location was good and it had a free shuttle to and from the airport. Bed was very comfortable and had plenty of pillows. TV was located in and odd spot so when we pulled it out to watch it while laying in bed the cable cord came undone. Bathroom didn't have a fan either so it go steamy in there right away. Shower was very spacious.
Location, Cleanliness and Facilities Air conditioning was not working and I was asked to open windows and sleep. After multiple calls they sent me a fan. They told me they will fix it next day and it is the same problem. They made me move next day to a different room. I was on vacation and expected little more from Marriot
Close location to airport Limited food options
We were supposed to get to Anchorage at 12:00 noon. Our flight was bumped, and we didn't get in until 12:00 midnight. Our luggage didn't make our plane either. We got to the hotel after midnight, the staff was excellent! They were able to give us tooth brushes, toothpaste, shaving cream and razor. I can't tell you how nice that was when you have nothing more than the clothes on your back! Thanks Marriott. I'll be staying with you again. Todd Greer, Wildomar CA
Location, cleanliness The cafe staff were really nice but something was wrong with the food there.
Room was large Room was advertised as "non smoking". Smoke residue started an asthsma attack in one in our party. Also facility is not handicap accessable- the only rooms available were on floor 2 & 3 no elevator! There was no other available room to switch to.
Breakfast. Staff was nice Severely dated and in a rundown neighborhood. Did not feel clean.
-Roomy -Wi fi was down - No business center even tho advertised as amenities - No hot water for a few hours
Location was good to hit some nearby places we wanted to go, the rooms were seperated. Immediately walking in the room smelled like cheap hookers, it was out of date and looked run down, and the tv remote didn't work for the tv.
The price. My only real complaint is the smell that pervaded the room. It was strong enough to give me a headache, and most closely resembled the smell of urine.
Close to the airport, shuttle driver excellent. Room had no air condition, in fact the heat was turned on and the room temp was close to 90. no thermostat to turn the heat off. Had to argue with desk clerk to get another room even though there were only 10-15 guest. Musty smell, outdated and dirty.
Room was roomy with a separate living room and bedroom. There was a fold-down bed to accommodate more people. The hotel is on a quite busy road so it is noisy at times. The walls seem thin because I heard people laughing and cutting up outside. The internet service was down with no apologies, the front desk simply said someone "was working on it". I worked at nights so was seeping during the daytime. The maid knocked on my door for a long time to be let in despite of the locked door providing the message someone was in there. No "Do Not Disturb" sign available to place outside the door.
Close to my home, clean, affordable!!! We had no do not disturb sign!
local transport service was fast and friendly. the carpet in the halls needs to be replaced. I pre-paid for stay through kayak but when I checked out the hotel lost the information from Kayak even though I called the day of check in and they had a record of me. The front desk woman Stacy was very rude and wouldn't help so I asked for the manager and he said there was no record so I showed him my email confirmation. Finally he found it but they charged my credit card for the last 2 days. The manager blamed Kayak and told me to never use Kayak, to only book a room through the hotel. The food was over priced and just mediocre.
The beds are actually really comfortable. The rooms have dark over curtains and overall it was pretty quiet. I literally stayed here 8 hours as I needed a place to crash between flights. I slept really well. They only had decaf coffee in my room.
It was very nice and a great price
The actual condition of the room was adequate This place is horrible. It's located right next to a lake where planes land and take off starting at about 6 AM. There's no chance you're able to get any type of sleep at this place unless you're heavily medicated. Factor in the price and it's a stay away for sure. I actually paid for two nights but left after one and double paid to stay somewhere else so I could sleep.
The bed was super comfortable and very nice pillows! Great view of the mountain and very nice staff. They were great about giving us a ride to the airport as well! Air worked great!
The hotel was easy to find and the beds were comfey. Well I feel like the front desk people were not very professional. We had to walk quite a ways back to the front desk 3 times because our keys didn't work.
I use this hotel when I have an overnight in Anchorage. It does the trick. Much better under the new management. Breakfast us so-so. No gym.
Price! It had bad smell, shower tub was disgusting, saw a mouse in my room, it just not a place I'd recommend!
This place is close to the airport, and cheaper than the chains. I stay here six or so times a year for that reason. Breakfast is uninspired.
It is a room near airpot The smell of the rooms, cleanliness, if I hadn't arrived from the east coast in the middle of the night I wouldn't have stayed there. Staff is nice, but they can only do much, the facilities aren't their decision - ZERO capital has been invested to update the place in 20+ years. The place is tired and sad. I asked for another room (I never do especially aver 14 hours of flying) which was as bad as the first. It wasn't a matter 'IF' anyone died in those rooms, it's how many.
The size of the room. Small breakfast area.
We stayed at the Microtel for 2 nights. We were surprised how pleasant it was for only being a 2 star. The price was right, the staff very friendly and we had very few complaints. The only main thing was that the room was pretty warm and even with the window cracked seemed a bit stuffy.
All the staff were exceptionally helpful. Heat in my room would not turn off, they quickly offered me a different room, which I moved to. Room very dark, unimaginative. Noise from other rooms, hall.
Very helpful staff, convenient and timely shuttle service, much nicer than the Hilton downtown, and half the price
Modern, clean room. Quiet. Friendly staff. Not a big deal but room AC pump was quite loud. We were not aware this is a pet friendly hotel. I love pets, but was not happy to unexpectedly bump into a pit bull that growled, snapped, barked and lunged at my 6-year daughter from less than 1 foot away.
The size of the room Na
Since I live in Alaska and go to the lower 48 often, I sometimes need a place to stay in Anchorage between flights. The Microtel is what I use for this. It is close to the airport, and cheaper than other places. Unlike the non-chain hotels, there are no surprises in the quality. The parking is free, and even though the rooms are small, their layout is kind of fun. The outbound shuttle schedule leave a bit to be desired, and it often takes about 15 minutes for inbound to arrive. The free breakfast isn't impressive, but I often miss it because I leave at odd hours. There is only one elevator and it is slow.
The location is nearby the airport but don't try to walk. It's about a 45 minute one. Bed is comfortable. The alarm clock went off twice during the night - once at 3:00 and once at 3:15. Having flown in from 30 hours of travel from overseas, looking for a good night stay was the intention. The staff was unsympathetic and completely removed from the reality of the housekeeping blunder. Having not slept but 3 hours that night, their best offer was a gift card to stay again, stating that "We can't give you a refund - you used it, plus we could have rented the room to someone else." Give me a break.
Clean quiet Crack queen
NOTHING OLD AND DINGY ROOM BED SLANTED TO THE HEAD WATER IN SHOWER GOES FROM FREEZING TO SCALDING HOT IN .001 SEC's WAIT AT AIRPORT FOR SHUTTLE WAS NEARLY 1 HR W MOTEL ABOUT 5 MIN AWAY. RM WAS 89 DOLLARS FOR A 20 DOLLAR A NIGHT DIVE, AND I WOULDN'T PAY 20.. I HONESTLY WILL SLEEP ON AN AIRPORT BENCH BEFORE I BOOK THERE AGAIN!
Great staff Everyone works with what they've got Cheap and easy Close to airport 24 hour shuttle I got a late check out as I arrived after midnight. Stored luggage for me after I moved out. Price is right for travelers on a budget That old, familiar motel smell in the room .
Nothing we never got to stay their. They put us up in a Manor a half a block a way. It way dirty and trashy. Their was a apartment building in between us and the Puffin Inn. This was a terrible booking, we did not even get to stay at the Puffin Inn. We stayed at the Manor a half a block away. It was filthy dirty, stained and very run down. I would never recommend this to any one traveling.
Close to airport. Management tries to make most of what it has Starting to show its age. Rooms are small, at least the out buildings. These rooms need to be renovated.
good location to airport
Convenient location Dirty, no doorknob on bathroom door, bedside lamp didn't work, leak from ceiling over tub, pillows flat and lumpy. Employees were mostly friendly and full hot breakfast offered although we don't eat eggs or sausage.
The location. For found drug and needles in room blood on bathroom walls.and was not offer an other room after letting staff know.took video dougher f room drugs and neddles
Good value for the money. Friendly staff. Very comfortable and the room was clean. Worth the money, especially in the high-priced Scrooge market. Lobby and bar were a bit dated. Some noise in the morning from planes taking off nearby. Otherwise excellent value.
Clean rooms. Decent price during peak tourist season. They had rooms available when we needed them!
It's been two years since I've stayed here, and the hotel has aged 10 years in that time. Very outdated, hair balls in the beds, dirt in all the corners. Very dim lighting in the room, zero decor. When we went to the dining room for continental breakfast, all they had was bread! Don't go, there are much better options at the same price point. Didn't like anything
Very comfortable bed.
I ended up needing to extend my stay twice on very short notice. The staff was very helpful and accommodating.
I liked that this hotel was close to the airport, McDonald's and a few other places within walking distance and there beds where surprisingly comfortable.
I was not bothered at all during my stay. Traveling for work and just wanting to relax and sleep when not working. There always appeared to be someone at the front desk except when I needed to check out at 3am to go to the airport. The water was really hot which I found amazing. Love a super hot shower after a long day at work. The bed was really comfy I slept great when I was able to. There seemed to be a lot of fighting among the staff. Everyone seemed unhappy and unfriendly. Also a lot of staff members hung around after they were no longer on shift so that was a bit confusing. I saw a baby behind the desk on multiple occasions. I don't dislike babies just found it to be very unprofessional. I smelled pot multiple times walking down the hallways. My room claimed to be non smoking but shelled a lot like stale cigarette smoke especially when the ac was on. They have a very late check in time in which my room still was not ready. After spending 20+ hours traveling I just wanted to sleep but had to wait 4 hours for a room.
The bathroom didn't have exhaustion to air and the smell was terrible. The mattresses were awful and I woke up every day with pain in my back. I stayed in the lower level room which didn't have a view of the floor outside and even in the summer it stayed very cold inside.
Got there at 2 pm they said an hour before can in room was 4 by the time I got in room , they were bring tewols after we got in room , right 9 am day of check the cards didn't work to get in room ,,, a couple drug deals going on at back door
We were supposed to call to get picked up at the airport. Call was routed to unanswered tape. Another couple was also calling. They gat thru, someone would come in 15 minutes. Thirty minutes later, someone came. At hotel, he was talking to someone else and said he was supposed to have two others helping him that night for transport, but they did not show up. The room seemed old. The beds were well used and soft and lumpy.
Getting away from it Smell, dirt, size, no hot water, bed, no closet, filthy carpet, naked windows, populated with brothel women, and overpriced.
Nothing No Ac No coffee pot or ice available Open window was only source of air movement with a stick holding it open Window curtain was thin didn't stop the 20 hours of sun Location is next to rr tracks that train runs three times a night blowing horn Did I mention pay extra for having bathroom Only good part was at least it was clean
Nothing.......I will suggest to take out of booking page, was really unbelievable how ugly is please do someting se are ver disappointed. nothing I will not recomended at all
Clean sheets. Hot shower.
Close to airport with shuttle. This place was pretty disgusting. The toilet overflowed and soaked the hallway carpet. The shared shower and bathroom facilities in general were filthy. Far more pubic hair than I cared to encounter. We found a half eaten box of Chips Ahoy and pop bottles under the bed. Pretty sure our neighbors were either buying or selling drugs. And the owner threatened a guest with physical violence when we were checking in. If I payed $30 to stay here I'd been ok with this, not $88.
