I reached there to find out that they didn’t have any cars left. Why would you book people when you know you won’t have cars. If you don’t have cars then atleast do the courtesy to call and notify ahead of time. It can ruin trips. Had to wait for almost half an hour for a customer to bring back the car and then they gave us the car with half the tank. On top of that they never have the kind of car available that was in the original booking. I booked a Sedan this time and I got a giant RAM truck with lot less fuel efficiency thereby costing me more for the trip. I think this should be fixed.

We got there at the scheduled time and they did not have any cars! over 20 people waiting in line for their reservations and no cars. They shouldn't take a reservation if they don't have a car to rent.

Pros:

I had to wait an hour outside after arriving on time for my pickup. Once I was inside the agent was awful: rude, unaccommodating, eager to stick me with a pickup truck. What is the point of reserving a particular kind of car if I'm just given what's available after the small car I needed and requested is nowhere to be found, nor, as I was told, is a particular kind of car even guaranteed? I drove the SUV I was given as little as possible while I had it because it was nearly impossible to park it in the city.

Cons:

Customer service, wait time, availability, respecting the reservation that i had made.

The car was a little dirty and hadn't been thoroughly cleaned. We also ended up with an SUV instead of a compact car as requested (I don't like driving big cars). I didn't have to pay extra for it (most people would consider it a bonus I guess). But they were very quick with both pickup and dropoff, and overall it was good value for the money.

Just an overall heads up, they don’t have a lot of vehicles so when you go in to pick up your reserved vehicle, they have to wait for someone to drop off their previously rental vehicle. Then, they turn it around immediately-so no cleaning the vehicle at all. Our vehicle had a check engine light on it as well. Customer service is luck luster-they do not care if you have to wait.

The customer service representative at the Hertz counter at the 1919 Connecticut Av NW, Washington DC location was incredibly helpful, friendly and efficient. She made my car rental experience much easier than expected! Thanks

Kayak's reservation code was only entered in Hertz's system on the day before, meaning Hertz did not really reserved anything. I got to pickup's place and there was no car available. Had to wait one hour for it. Meanwhile another costumer, who had not paid in advance like I did, was there waiting for 2 hours and obviously got preference to be attended first. When client pays in advance, please HONOR the contract and have the car available.

Terrible! They gave me the wrong car pickup location. Then finally, when I Uber’d to the alternate pick up location, they told me they had no cars available, but that they’d put me on a 2 hour waiting list. I never heard from them after that.

Staff was great. Helpful, polite, friendly with quick paperwork and timely departure.

Cons:

A written, verbal, or video overview of the car safety and new mechanical features. New cars have changed so much in just the past few years. Foremost would be the blind-spot warning detector, adaptive cruise control and CVT (transmission) manual downshifting (very important in mountainous terrain)

There was no Dollar located at that location. Customer service is abysmal! They're completely incompetent. Kayak customer service is completely non existent! I will never be using Kayak.com or Dollar/Hertz/ Thrifty ever again. You guys really suck and ruined my trip to my sister's wedding!
