Pros: I was only in Tokyo for two days. I have always wanted to see the City so I stayed as a long lay-over. I have traveled quite a bit and mostly stay at high end hotels. The room was amazing. It was large, clean and the bed was perfect. I think the one thing that stood out was the service. I mostly felt with the front desk manager Tetsuro Nakamura. Everyone at the hotel seemed to really appreciate their job and enjoy helping their guests.

Pros: The staff is incomparable (then again, Japanese people have standards no one else in the world has), they were so on the ball about everything, from questions about the city, to housekeeping and in room massages, that this hotel in the US would cost 550 a night, and I only paid around 200. Japan is on another level. The comparison between Japan and the United States, is that there is no comparison.

Pros: I was on a business trip visiting a company less than 2 blocks away so I couldn't beat the location. I got the normal room, which is small but had everything I needed. Rooms are modern and mine was clean. Hotel is dated. The lobby feels like the 70's or 80's and lacks a real bar reestaurant. The cafe in the lobby has a very limited menu of food and drink, particularly for breakfast. Would I stay here again? Yes for the same location/price balance I paid on this trip.

Pros: Classic or dated, whatever your preference, but well maintained and spotless. Large rooms, for Japan. Staff is marvelous. Very close to the US Embassy and train stations. All staff speak English sufficient to get the job done. Booking through Kayak got a reasonable rate for Tokyo.
Cons: Couldn't control the heat in the room, which was 79F. WiFi connects but can be erratic on mobile devices. Food in the hotel is outrageously expensive, but a 2 minute walk gets you to reasonable options. Gym is excellent but there is a substantial extra charge to use it.

Pros: My November stay in Tokyo was switched from Okura Hotel to Sheraton Miyako Hotel, because Okura was demolished in May this year for a new hotel building to be reopened in 2018. So all the evaluations given here are for Miyako Hotel. The hotel is excellent, very roomy and update. It offers all what a ordinary traveler needs and beyond. Its location is great right in the middle of several subway stations, only Meguro station and takaniwa station are within walking distance. But, scheduled hotel buses taking hotel guests to Meguro and Shinagawa station is an excellent way to help hotel guests move around. Do your homework and find out what time the airport limousine bus can take you from airports to Miyako Hotel before you buy airline tickets. Because the bus schedule is very odd. I came to Miyako from Tokyo Haneda Airport, the airport limousine bus only runs twice in the morning and once in the late evening (Good for red eyed flight guests). If you come to the hotel any time between those schedules, you need to find out what is the nearest hotel or subway stations to Miyako the airport bus can take you to, then take taxi from there to Miyako.

Pros: The JR Suite was amazing. Love the high floors and view of Tokyo Tower. Customer Service at the front desk was excellent. After we paid for the upgraded suite we were a lot happier.
Cons: Initial room was very small and they put us on the floor with the business and fitness area so people were in and out on that floor. Room was very very small where our 2 luggage would not fit. My GF kept on bumping her elbows into the shower door and the sink as there was no space in between for her to do her hair and make up. We had to upgrade to the JR. Suite at a very high price. The JR. Suite was an excellent room. We didn't need the living room area but it was a nice adder. What we were expecting was a bedroom similar to the JR suite bedroom but never got it on the regular booking. Concierge needs to look into what he's doing more. We asked about the Robot Restaurant and see about making reservations for that Saturday Night. He booked the reservations but didn't realize that payment up front is required. When we go to the place we were turned away as it was full and everyone had paid in full prior to arrival. When I tried to explain to him I don't think he spoke English well enough to understand. I was not mad at him as we understand we are in another country with a language barrier.

Cons: At check-in we were told we needed to pay for a separate room as my mother and my sister together with me are considered too old to fit in one room with two double beds. They said a larger room would be available that could accommodate the three of us together the next day but we would have to pay an additional 330 USD per night of stay! Our flight landed 11 pm at Haneda by the time we got to the hotel it was already almost 12:30 am, we were exhausted! Renting an additional room also costed the same amount $330. That's the option we went with for at least a day. We then booked a second room online for the subsequent 5 days for only half the price they asked us for upfront. It made little sense from a business perspective if they had let us upgrade to a one bedroom that would release them of two smaller rooms that they can charge more for. Internet is slow especially at night, can barely read the news. Air conditioning was weak in one of our rooms, I was sweating a lot.

Pros: Our accommodations were comfortable -- larger rooms than the norm in Tokyo. The neighborhood is quiet, upscale residential, but shops are just 5 (long) blocks away, and a 5-minute ride on the free shuttle bus takes you to Meguro Station with its many surrounding shops/restaurants and its easy access to the rest of Tokyo. The staff is helpful and knowledgeable. There's free internet, coffee maker, and teapot in the room with supplies. The lobby bar features live soft jazz, features a view of the lovely garden. Shuttle bus to Narita runs at convenient times -- reserve in advance.
Cons: Miyako is showing its age. Our bathrooms (during 2 stays) were half remodeled; they need to do the other half and update the rooms. Room lighting is dim, not a problem during the day thanks to the huge windows but a bother at night. Transport from Haneda to the hotel is a problem. The last bus is 2 pm and a taxi is $60. Some advice: like Tokyo hotels in general Miyako's restaurants are expensive and laundry charges are ridiculous. Go out to eat and wash your clothes. There are lots of good restaurants with reasonable prices around Meguro station, and the concierge directed us to a coin laundry a short walk from the Shirokanedae station, where the shuttle bus stops on request.

Hotel management couldn't care less about comments or complaints.

Pros: The Intercontinental is a major chain and had a nice entrance and the rooms were clean. The rooms were decent size -- in fact, as I understand "spacious" -- for Tokyo.
Cons: 1. The Internet was intermittent and not very good. 2. The cost for the Internet was one of the priciest anywhere -- they charge 1620 yen (about US$16) per device. So, a phone and a laptop, my wife's phone and an iPad is 4 devices or $64/night. Needless to say, we did not activate internet for each device. Compare this to the Hyatt Regency Tokyo at $3/night per room (multiple devices), or free at the Kobe Sheraton, and free at the Kyoto Westin. 3. The plumbing was old, did not drain properly, had to run the cold water for a long time to get cold (rather than hot) water, and the non-Toto toilet seat was far inferior to the Toto Washlet seats in other hotels. 4. I have Acid Reflux and need to sleep with a raised head. I requested foam pillows at reservation time and again by email about 2 days before arrival. I was told they were booked and no foam pillows were available. So, don't count on any "accommodations". 5. The concierge was very helpful, BUT the lines to see the concierge were unreasonable (1/2 hour or more). Ultimately, we could only see the concierge about one-half of the times we tried.

Pros: It was close to the station and some nice restaurants just outside the hotel.
Cons: We stayed on reward points as ambassadors. We were treated appallingly. The room was average for the type of hotel we were staying in. The staff were quite standoffish, considering we had just come from Intercontinental Delete repeated word Bay where the service was outstanding and we could not fault a single thing it was a huge disappointment to be treated like this. When we went for dinner in the restaurant we were not even offered a drinks or wine list the whole meal and they forgot my meal altogether. When they cleaned the room they left dirty dishes behind. I never complain about anywhere that I stay but it was enough to taint my holiday. When we checked out they did not even ask us how the stay was. We are Platinum members.

Pros: The ANA Intercontinental is situation on Roppongi Dori, very close to the Roppongi district's busy night life. It has a metro line within a 10 minute walking distance as well connect to both Narita and Haneda airports. The concierge service was great, helped us out with tours to Mt. Fuji as well as to a small town in Tama City where we wanted to visit our old neighbors from Thailand. She went out of her way to call the friend and coordinate pick-up from the train station.
