Pros: Great value for money. No "hidden fees".
Cons: Their phone-based customer service. It takes hours, literally, for them to pick the phone at the airport location. If you select any other option, it takes you to a Thrifty's call center in the Philippines, where they cannot access your reservation (because the Anchorage airport location is a Thrifty's franchisee location).
Pros: The car and price
Cons: Staff member was horrible. He was very rude and was extremely unhelpful.
Pros: The staff at the counter when we arrived gave us excellent information for the road conditions and for driving in Alaska. Snow tires were offered and needed. He was very friendly and helpful!
Cons: nothing - pick up and drop off was a breeze!
Pros: A great rental in every way, save one. (Mandated insurance, see below)
Cons: If you cannot prove personal collision coverage, they mandated at least their minimal insurance package. Did not see anything about this when making the reservation. In looking at the fine print, this insurance provides a MAX of $1000 coverage for a cost of $30/day. It just seemed excessive in my opinion.
Pros: The Buick SUV was very nice to drive even in the Alaska winter.
Cons: The first car’s engine light was on and vibrating quite badly. Had to go back and filled out the paperwork to get another one.
Pros: Friendly staff.
Pros: The car was in good shape and worked out well for the area and weather conditions.
Cons: 1) "Would you like tires with that?", when I picked up the car I'm told that the tires on the car I rented would not work in the weather conditions but if I paid extra I could get winter tires with studs. The roads were covered in packed snow and ice. There was no way you could get by without winter tires. 2) I was told "Not to fill up with gas when I returned it". The employee at the counter didn't ask my preference or give options but stated "don't fill up the car before returning it because we get a special rate of $2.50 a gallon and you would be charged almost $5 at the pump, we will fill and just charge you for what you used". That is what I was told and yet I ended up paying for a full tank, eventhough
Pros: Not particularly. We had a reserved a vehicle at one price but because our plane was late they gave that vehicle away and then charged us 30% more for a replacement vehicle. Our original price should have been honored.
Cons: The person helping us should have made more of an effort to honor the original pricing, especially since we had to drop from a sports vehicle to a mid sized SUV which is typically much less expensive.
Pros: Not much good to say about drop off. They took their time checking in my vehicle, and I was the only one there. Counter person seemed to be only interested in increasing the rental cost.
Cons: I reserved a Jeep SUV through this site. When I arrived at the counter, the counter person offered a vehicle in a class below what I reserved. Upgrade cost. The person at the counter only offered three options for insurance. Cost $40 per day and up. No option to deny insurance.
Cons: Based on the gauge, the car was not full of gas but I was expected to bring it back full. I had to pay an extra $20 in fees above what was shown on Kayak + $500 refundable deposit. Lots dings on the car that were not marked and it is very difficult to see them in a dimly-lit parking garage.
Cons: Slow process for pick up
Cons: I booked this for my Dad and he was very happy.
