Very convenient walking distance to Alamodome Noise problem between rooms and outside traffic
Location was good, close enough to the river walk. Hotel had a historic feel which was great. Small parking lot next to the hotel, because of the lack of space I had to park a block away in a different parking lot. However, I didn't have to pay.
Liked the atmosphere and the clean rooms... Brenda at front desk in the evenings was especially cordial and kind...whole staff was very nice...was a nice stay
I loved the atmosphere of the hotel. It was very clean and the staff was very helpful. It was our first time to San Antonio and they gave great advice as to where to go ! I would come back again ! It's not really anything they did it was more confusion on my part. I saw the river walk title in this hotel and thought we were going to be down town and really close to the riverwalk. We were about 1 mile walking distance. But still a great location and easy to walk places :)
The room was clean and beautiful. The staff was friendly and accommodateing. Breakfast was great with real food not powdered eggs and plenty. A short walk to the river walk. We parked our car and didn't use it again until we left. Great place to stay we definitely will be coming back.
overrated for a plus hotel. This is an old hotel that badly needs updating. For downtown San Antonio this is a terrible location.
Perfect location to attend my conference at the Marriott. Such great rooms @ a better price. Less than a five min walk to Marriott & Riverwalk. Warm & friendly staff. Clean. Good breakfast. I have no complaints. I was very pleased with the service, rooms, cleanliness, location, and the price.
Convenient location. Room comfortable enough, and quiet. They had glass glasses. WiFi. Very slow - up to two minutes for search results, and forget streaming. I will not stay there again for the terrible WiFi alone. Couple that with the fact that the front desk lost my credit card number TWICE, and I still don't have the receipt they were going to email. And you'll want to bring your own extension cord. This for $160 a night and an addition 16% in tax? Not me ever again.
After a truly appalling experience at the Red Roof nearby, Kayak got me refunded and rebooked at the Best Western. It was clean, new, quiet, comfortable, and close to the meeting center at the Hyatt. The room was comfortable and pleasant, decorated in craftsman style. The only reason I didn't book in the first place is because the BW Sunset Suites didn't show up in my search. It struck me as odd that no BW hotels showed up on the map of the downtown area. Next time, I'll just go straight to the BW web site perhaps. The in-room Wifi worked well, unlike the Red Roof or Marriott. The breakfast menu was varied and fresh each day and the room had plenty of space. In short, this is the experience I have come to rely on at Best Western and I won't bother looking anywhere else.
The hotel is generally clean. No whole wheat bread or healthy options. It may just be a Texas thing. Also, don't ask them to call you a cab. They have an insider deal with a lady who picks you up in an unmarked car, cannot keep quiet during the ride, and makes xenophobic and racist statements about yellow cab drivers. She also charged me $10 more than the standard rate.
Three blocks from the convention center, good-sized quiet room, friendly staff, and a great price through Kayak. I'd certainly stay there again. Little things: check-in took 10 minutes, which is way too slow for an existing reservation. The breakfast was fairly limp, even if free, although the hours were good. Not enough electrical outlets. The shower head was not as full as desired. And I was disconcerted to walk into the lobby at 1 p.m. to find a man being handcuffed on the floor by police. Apparently he had been pan handling in the foyer. Disconcerting.
We went to the Monster Jam and were very close to the Alamo Dome. It made the show more fun, will stay there again. nope
During my stay at Staybridge Suites: I was most impressed with the professionalism of the staff. Very poised, knowledgeable and courteous
location room was not ready even though I had requested early arrival 1 hr. only several days ahead
Proximity to the Alamodome. Internet unreliable, slow, and frequently not working. Front desk no help as says call 888 number which is even worse . Breakfast food selection and quality poor. Condition of facilities degrading and not maintained. Carpet in poor condition.
The staff were friendly and assisted in making our stay a great one. As a result of some miscommunication between booking.com and the hotel, the hotel gave my family complimentary day passes for the trolley system. The maid service was excellent and kept the room clean for us, making the bed and exchanging some sheets for us.
Hotel is super clean (spotless!) and modern, with free unlimited Wifi and friendly and helpful staff. There are complimentary maps of the downtown area at the front desk. Our King room was well-appointed (mini fridge, ironing board, air conditioner, microwave, coffee maker - which I didn't use) and my husband wanted me to mention that it always smelled good. Bed was comfortable as well. Much more budget friendly than the hotels right in the heart of the Riverwalk. About less than a mile walk to the central downtown area, which can be a bit more daunting when the weather spikes or drops (it was 32 one morning when we ventured out for breakfast). Easy access to the Alamodome and amtrak station, though. Since it's close to the Amtrak station you can hear the train blow its horn, but it was only in the morning (a reasonable time - nothing horrible) and we ended up using it as a secondary alarm clock. No bar or restaurant onsite but we didn't need any of that and tons of places in San Antonio deliver so the lack of room service wasn't off-putting. Would definitely stay here again!
First, City View overbooked. This was not communicated to Kayak, so after traveling when I arrived at 3AM, a very disgruntled employee stormed out of the back and told me through the locked door to leave, they have nothing for me. After statng that I have a reservation, and showing him the confirmation, he told me that "Kayak" overbooked them and to leave or he would call the police. You read that correctly. I asked for his name, which he refused to give to me. After asking again to look at my confirmation, I decided at this point I did not want to give them my money after this experience. We left and were forced to travel 2 hours home after a very long day and night already spent traveling. I called City View moments after leaving to again try and get the employees name, but was hung up on. I will say Kayak handled this situation beautifully, even going as far as to cal me to make sure we were accommodated. This was not a miss on Kayak's part, it was City View first for not notifying Kayak or myself of the overbooked rooms, and second, for handling the manner upon my arrival so terribly.
The rooms were clean and tidy The rooms were not soundproofed and there is no mention of the trains that pass close by throughout the night alongside it being on a very noisy street. I would have thought that families with children would be placed at the back of the building and not on the main road.
