Pros:Great location downtown, close to riverwalk, right across the street from the Alamo.
Cons:No ventilation in the room, so bring a small portable fan. Events in the plaza across the street (protesters, musicians) can be quite loud and go on late into the evening. The card/lock system for the room often malfunctioned and wouldn’t let us in.

Pros:The hotel's location can't be beat: a block away from the Alamo, a couple blocks away from the convention center, and right next to a shopping mall with a wide variety of restaurants and stores. The staff was very friendly.
Cons:The room worked for what I needed, but it could have been better. The bathroom was small and was, for some reason, built 6-8 inches higher than the rest of the room. You could hear everything through the walls.

Cons:You can see the age of the hotel in the rooms! The bathroom was extremely small but usefull. The valet it's on the expensive side!!

Pros:San Antonio's 1859 hotel was all it promised. Perfect central location next to the Alamo, and the Menger Hotel itself is rich in history, generously displayed throughout the building. The room itself was just fine, but I am interested mostly in the ambience outside the room (so long as the beds, showers and such are good). We will return. One note of special interest: the maid was a great source of info; cheerful and helpful!
Cons:The view from the window? - a wall! Next time we will ask for a courtyard or other external, interesting view. Otherwise, all was well.

Pros:Beautiful hotel with charm and character. So close to everything and convenient for someone on foot/ for public transport/ for tours. Great pool. People working there were very nice - allowed late check out at 1:00pm.
Cons:A bit noisy at night - one night it was loud drunk tourists, once it was random construction at restaurant in mall next door, & once the fire alarms went off. I don't think it's the hotel's fault though.

Pros:If you want a little history stay, this place is it. This place is great old school hotel with the oldest bar in town. Has a nice pool and inner garden to chill. Nice helpful staff Rooms were clean and large. The shower could have stronger flow and pool service coming around a bit (there is a phone to place order) but that is not a big deal. Location is perfect - Riverwalk starts right here and Alamo is a cross the street

    The quickest way to get from the airport to your accommodation is by car, which will take about 15min. Taxis are easily available outside of the airport’s Terminal A, and the one-way fare to the hotel will be around $27. If you prefer taking public transport, get on board bus line number 5 heading in the direction of Downtown Only, and get off at the St Mary’s Between Travis & Houston bus stop, which will be about 40min later. From there, get on board bus line 301 heading towards St Paul Square and get off 4 stops later at the Alamo Plaza in Front of 215 1/2 bus stop. The hotel will then be a 2min walk away, and the full trip will take around 50min.
