It was a nightmare. The rental car ( Renault Arkana) did not function properly. I had to call 3 times for road assistance. Battery kept dying. They left me stranded one day . I waited 4 hours and no one came to help. I had to hire a private party to come and start the car so I could go back to my home. I will never rent a car form Alamo or Enterprise. Claudie Secco

Cons:

There apparently is a French and Swiss side to the airport with car rentals at both places. The French side is smaller with less car but maybe a better deal. I rented a small suv because I was going skiing. They did not have that car but they “upgraded” me two classes to a luxury wagon without AWd. It worked for this trip but was not what I wanted. Also, the road signs and gps are not clear how to get back to the French side. We almost missed our plane. Found it by accident and not following what the signs would indicate

Pros:

Staff generally friendly. Super fast drop-off.

Cons:

Difficulty at pick-up. Required to provide a flight number although leaving in the region. There was no mention of this anywhere on kayak's or wisecars' website through which the car was booked.

I did not get the car I was supposed to get, the employees were unhelpful, I waited a long time to receive my car and when I gave it back I have been told that everything was fine before to receive an email stating I owe them money for damages I did not make.. It's the last time I book with sixt

We dropped the car off within the contract period. They not only charged us an extra day, but they also sent us a photo of damage to the car that they want to charge us for. The photo was taken almost 24 hours after we dropped off the car. I have now asked them three times to provide me with their records of when the car was returned to their possession, and they are refusing to answer that question. So instead I am forced to dispute the charge through my credit card company.

Hidden costs. Charged me extra 60 euro to take to France from Switzerland. Tried to charge me 300 euros for insurance upgrade for 1 weekend. Was not the car I booked. Did not show me how to use the car. Do not use this company.

Refused to initially give me the size of vehicle I reserved. Gave me smaller vehicle than reserved and luggage wouldn't fit. Had to go back to desk to change vehicle, which required a second shuttle ride and lost hour delaying our long drive to hotel. The replacement vehicle was smaller than what was reserved, but larger than the first. Vehicle was lower quality than what was reserved. Feeling abused and cheated.

The car itself was annoying. It kept beeping about something and there is no indication anywhere on any screen or display as to why. I thought mabye it was when I approached a train crossing, but honestly I still really don’t know.

The main problem was price gouging. I paid for 3 days in mini car what I normally paid for a luxury SUV for 2 weeks. I often travel through GVA and will never use Thrifty or Hertz again, ever. I can afford the money, but cannot afford to lower myself in supporting such a greedy and inefficient company.

The system couldn't provide me a collision insurance while I was trying to rent the car via KAYAK. I tried but failed. Then I had to have on the desk and became much more expensive. Nearly doabled the price finally.
