Pros: Beautiful historic hotel in the perfect location. The staff could not have done more to be helpful. The room was beautifully decorated and extremely comfortable. The bathroom was spectacular.

Pros: I told them I am severely asthmatic. When I walked into the room I immediately smelled musty old rug that was cleaned at least dozens of times and exhausted its useful life a long time ago. I went back to the front desk and told them needed a different room for medical reasons and willing to pay more. The front desk person and the day manager told me that they did not have availability without any serious they said no without any consideration and force me to sleep in this room where I ended up wheezing all night. They also lied to me that all the rooms were renovated at the same time and were the same. And it turns out that there were at least a few rooms available.
Cons: The front desk staff should care about the wellbeing of their customers. Poorly trained and inconsiderate.

Pros: Excellent hotel & facilities. Modern, spacious interior. Complementary wifi, pool, + gym. Very helpful staff. Spa and breakfast are typically not included, but upgrade is possible for 90 GBP per day for 2 people. This includes access to the club lounge, the spa, unlimited drinks and snacks from 5:30-7:30pm, and breakfast in the lounge in the morning. If you wanted a greater selection for the breakfast, you could pay 5 GBP more per person for the breakfast at the One Square restaurant downstairs which includes a quite large selection of hot options and a large continental breakfast. All in all, the food and drinks were amazing. The spa was great - there is a heated hydropool and then multiple types of rooms around it: hammam, rock sauna, aromatherapy room, biosauna, etc.
Cons: The location is a little further from the city center than I initially anticipated, but it wasn't a huge problem. It was about a 15-20 minute walk to the Edinburgh Castle and 20-30 if walking at a brisk pace to George St, Princes St, etc. where all the shops are. There isn't much to do around the hotel itself, particularly at night - it seems like a business neighborhood + convention center next door.

Pros: The hotel was beautiful as was my room. I was there on business and didn’t have a lot of time to explore Edinburgh, but the great location made kit easy to see a lot with the time I had available. Would consider staying again for personal travel as well.

Cons: Bedroom was irritating. Numerous lightbulbs flickered. There was a sewer smell in the room when we arrived. There was air leakage at our window which caused cold draughts all night and meant we heard everything going on in the service yard below which disturbed my sleep. The heating/ air system was poor and the room was either too stiff or cold and I had to keep getting up to change the controls. Hotel was very quiet too, why they gave us this room was strange or thoughtless.

Pros: Location. Friendly Staff. The new bar/restaurant area looks good however the only downside is the seating area near the bar soon filled up and even though there were empty tables on the lower floor level there seemed to be a reluctance to give these to guests who just wanted a drink.
Cons: The reception area is still going through refurbishment which meant long queues soon began to build up when guests began arriving in numbers which was an inconvenience to be honest. No doubt this will be resolved when the work is completed.

Cons: Requested an iron in the room prior to arrival but it wasn't there. The heating came on at 6am and was very noisy. This woke my partner and I up and we couldn't get back to sleep with the noise. The tea/coffee machine in the room did not work. Left my straighteners behind in the room but when I contacted the hotel to enquire about this they said they checked and they were not there. That is a mystery to me.

Pros: I chose this hotel because it was centrally located, easy to walk to from the train station, and a good price. It was exactly as advertised - no more, no less. If you are just looking for a place to lay your head at night while exploring Edinburgh, IBIS is a good choice. The staff were friendly and efficient, the room and bathroom was clean, and check-in/out was simple and direct. Overall I would stay here again.
Cons: In over 20 years of travel, every hotel except one has fallen short on pillows. Doesn't matter where, they are universally flat and usually require 3 or so to be good for me - I'm a side sleeper who likes fluffy firm pillows.

Cons: Booked 6 months prior to stay. Realized the next day, that I had booked a room for Saturday night, when I would be in Edinburgh only for Friday night. Was unable to switch nights even though it had been less than 12 hours from the time that the reservation was made, and the reservation was six months in the future. Had to reserve a second night. Rooms were clean with a modern open concept layout. Tried a bit too hard to be hip, no trash can in the room itself only a 1 gallon sized bin in the bathroom and no tub in the bath.

Pros: I arrived from the US a 6:45 am. I got to the Residence Inn at about 8 am-well before standard check-in. Sara at the front desk was awesome! She offered me coffee and breakfast, and to watch my luggage until my room became ready. And at 10:30am, she gave me my room keys. Thank you for being so very friendly and accommodating!

Cons: The reception staff was awesome. The bathroom in the room however is where I had an issue. I didn’t notice until I took a shower that night but there was mold ALL OVER the ceiling and in the corners of the bathroom. I brought it up to the staff in the morning and they said that they would get it cleaned off. I came back to the room that evening and there was still mold on the ceiling. I looked like they tried to get off some of the bigger spots and then just gave up half way through. It was brought up to them again and I got the same BS answer/result. Luckily we were checking out the next morning. I definitely won’t be staying here again. The staff can’t even take mold issues that can affect someone health seriously.

Cons: Slow check in - no-one seemed to know what they were doing. Room booked for 3 but only made up for 2 (Someone else got to their room and it was already occupied! Keys had to be reset as they stopped opening door. Room cold - none of us slept well.

Pros: Hotel is well situated two minutes walk from Haymarket Station and maybe 81-10 minutes from the start of Princess Street, surrounded by pubs, bars, cafes and restaurants, a great area to base yourself. Hotel itself is modern, bright and welcoming with comfortable rooms and a terrific breakfast
Cons: Small lifts tend to get busy in the mornings, apart from that very happy
