What guarantees will I get when I hire a car?

Most cars offered through KAYAK have a number of policies in place to cover you whilst you are driving. It depends on which car company you use. For example, if you choose a car with Right Cars, your hire price includes theft protection and third-party liability. All car hire companies allow you to choose full cover for an extra cost per day, which covers damage to the vehicle such as accidents.

What kinds of documentation do I need to hire a car?

When you arrive, you will be required to provide a copy of your passport and your driver's licence. We recommend reading and understanding exactly what documentation you need, to avoid being denied a vehicle. A credit or debit card will also be requested, with enough funds to cover the excess should something happen on your trip. In most cases, you may have to leave a deposit too.

What is the age limit for hiring a car?

The minimum age to hire a car is 21 years old for most companies; however, there may be a young driver fee added to your cost. Budget, for example, charges an extra fee per day for drivers between 21 and 25 years old. RENTplus does not enforce this fee. There is also a maximum age limit in most cases, of around 70-75. Check the small print with your provider before booking.

What are some important road rules in Prague?

Car hire at Vaclav Havel Prague Airport may be easy, but you must get familiar with the road rules first. Speed limits are as follows: 50 km/h in the suburbs, 90 km/h outside the town, 110 km/h on expressways and 130 km/h on the highway. It’s always useful to pay attention to the signs in case it is different. Some junctions change to a green light for both cars and people crossing, so take extra care to give pedestrians room to cross. In 2006, it became a law that all cars are to have their lights on at all times.

I purchased insurance through your online process. When I went to pick up the car, there was no such insurance, so I had to pay for insurance twice and now I have to scramble to get my money back from the insurance company you link to. It's a scam.

No fuss - no issues. Despite a high deposit good value for money - if you have ample insurance on your credit card or otherwise you can drive with peace of mind. Service team with Thomas & his friends on the ground in Prague is excellent !

I paid via kayak for $96 insurance that the NU Cars representative didint see on their end and was asking for $7,500 deposit or making me purchase their insurance for $250 so the deposit was $1,750. Not fair, would like to get the $96 refunded.
