I was nit aware that I would need to have a 3,000 GBP hold put on my credit card to pick up the car. The alternative was to pay double the cost of the rental car in insurance.Reviewed 2 Dec 2024

Acceptable. We didnt inspect the vehicle together and sign it off before leaving from pick up which was a bit of a worry. Car interior a little worn/tired but clean. No sixt branded car hire stickers/signage? I selected wrong airport for pick up. Additional charge was a bit high in my opinion but understandableReviewed 31 May 2024

The gas tank is never full when you pick up the car (on 2 occasions). So you are either penalized if you leave it a little short on fuel (I was) or you make a fuel donation to sixt if it’s over fueled at all. This almost seems deliberate to me.Reviewed 16 Sep 2022

Sixt would not honor my Kayak reservation, they refused to rent a car to me. They said they couldn’t because I was over 75. But they knew my age when they made the reservation. It was a horrible experience. We planned a two week driving trip. They should have not made the reservation. And when I was at the counter, they should have found a way to get me a car. I’m very disappointed with Kayak and Sixt for doing that to me. I was able to find a Walk-Up rental from Enterprise which was hundreds of dollars more expensive than my Kayak reservation. I feel that Kayak and/or Sixt should compensate me for my loss.Reviewed 13 Jul 2022

Everything was a great experience EXCEPT..........One major Issue that if it was not for my bank manager answering his email in Canada immediately bless his heart while I was standing at the car rental company (SIXT) in Northern Ireland.... I would have been screwed for almost double my car rental. Travelers!!!! Be aware and alert.... BEFORE LEAVING Canada..... if you are using your credit card to cover the insurance of your car rental, MAKE VERY SURE that you get a letter from your Bank card Holder stating that they are covering the replacement cost of the vehicle in the event of an accident abroad. It is NOT ENOUGH to just know that your credit card will cover insurance on your rental car. You have to get it in writing as a letter either from Visa or your bank that carries the credit card. The car rental will need to see and have a copy of it. Otherwise you will pay LOTS more for the car rental than you originally expected it would be. My car rental was $169.00 cdn for three days in Ireland and without the letter my bank emailed me instantly (lucky for me) the car rental would have charged me an additional $170.00 for added car replacement cost insurance without the letter. Other than the the car rental company SIXT and Kayak were great and the price was excellent. KevinReviewed 15 Jun 2022
