A bit run down already
The proximity to restaurants and entertainment venues around
Woke up to transients outside my room door and along the parking lot
The room, the night tables, bed and bathroom were dirty.
Very noisy, our room was on the first floor and come morning time we could here everything going on out side. All the house keeping carts going back and fourth, bouncing over the seams in the concrete, voices, and guests packing their cars. All that made it impossible to sleep. The room otherwise was clean, and recently remodeled to look nice.
Clean and a comfy bed.
The curtian was SUPER thin and we had the ground floor room next to the jce machine. I had to pin up sheets to prevent passerbyers to see us laying on the bed.
Good value for the money. Room was spacious, clean and quiet.
Great customer service
My family came down to San Diego for vacation and when we arrived to your hotel and checked in, we were given the wrong room's, the next morning I informed the front desk, and they would get everything taken care of when I came back later that day. When I came back that night it still hadn't been taken care of and the front desk person upgraded our room to a King suite for free which I thought was pretty awesome. Thank you so much for fixing the mistake and going beyond what was needed.
It's was roomy
I paid for a 1 queen size bed they gave me two full size ones. I ask for another room they said they were full. Even though the parking lot was pretty empty that night. Walked in the bathroom to be greeted by two roaches in the tub. I guess Wyndham Garden means it's like your sleeping in the garden with the bugs. Leave the lights on.
Great for a traveler on a budget
It is a great deal for the value you will pay. It is not in the best location, if you are looking to be waterfront. It is nice because there are plenty of grocery stores nearby and it is within 10 minutes of driving to basically all the main attractions of San Diego, which was very nice. I would say it is a 3.3 star hotel. Nothing special about it, but the bed was nice. I'd recommend it for families trying to travel on a tight budget.
Large homeless population around the area. Our neighbor at the hotel would smoke in front of his room so we constantly were smelling it. Our room had a front family room and a back bedroom, the downfall to this was that the air conditioner was in the front room and you had to turn on a noisy fan to get the air to circulate into our room. It was so noisy that we couldn't sleep with it on so we would get pretty warm at night time.
Don't be fooled by the Wyndham name
Staff was friendly, the lady at the desk who I assume was the manager was wonderful. They do a great job of making the "motel" look great online, however once we arrived we were a bit disappointed. The location is terrible in downtown San Diego, there were quite a few "transients" in the area, including a few that had rooms. I'm not one to knock a person based on there unfortunate status, but when I go on vacation I don't want to see security having to forceably remove a poor homeless guy from the property while he shouts obscenities at 10 in the morning, nor see the police driving through the parking lot each night. The 2nd night we wereally there we heard blood curdling screams from a woman shouting for help, which thankfullyrics were met by swift police presence, but terrified my 3 young children. Also, there's a sign at the front desk clearly stating that the "motel" bears the Wyndham name, they are simply owned by the group and not operated by Wyndham or subject to their standards. We returned to our room after days out to find soda cans and used rubber gloves left in our room by the cleaning staff and our room had stains on the floor and holes in the shower. The WiFi never worked well at all, we were able to get a better signal from the Wendy's next to the hotel. Overall I would give them a 2, barely, and that's solely based on the interactionsame I had with the front desk who were very nice.
The obviously mentally ill woman who stalked the parking lot for two days shouting curse words (I'm sure she had Tourette's Syndrome) causing the police to come multiple times. Again, nothing against this poor soul but not something I want to worry about while on vacation with three young boys.
parking, it charged $12 per night
Good accessibility to places but shady location.
Access to most tourist spots and beaches.
Location. Hotel building and surroundings look shady. Elevator which feels will break any moment. No security permiter, so anyone can roam freely within the hotel premises. No security locker in the room. Small room with uncomfortable beds. Very dirty AC vent. One of the hotel buildings (Building D) is on a very crappy street and overlooking junkyard (that's what it looked like) with multiple trash hauling trucks on the street. Don't go by the pics on the website. Every inch of hotel needs major upgrades for me to pay what I paid for at this place next time.
Family room had bunk beds. Pool is nicely heated.
Family suite just has half a wall that separates bunk beds from the king bed. It is not a separate room. Area is kind of sketchy. More like a motel than a hotel.
