The hotel did not honor the booking.com price quoted and, in fact, threw in significant costs per person for the "all-inclusive" plan (which is the only plan available)... They claimed the price was for two adults and two children under 6 which they claim are free.?. Our booking clearly said 6 persons yet they charged us an additional $39-108 per person, per day depending on age.
Mellow atmosphere, very attentive staff, nice layout, good food, ocean location, entertainment, nice room. Cnn tv reception was poor or unavailable- No music downtime (or mellow music) by poolside to relax, think, snooze, or read in relative peace. Lobby computers did not interface well with aol.com. No business center available for printers to make copies---etc.
Food was exceptional for all- inclusive. Resort is run- down, and needs a lot of updating.
Very comfortable and relaxing vacation resort. We had teenagers and it was great knowing they were safe and there was always activities going on. The staff works hard to keep everyone accomodated.
We took advantage of the free kayaks and paddle boards. The guy working there was excellent. The bartenders and waiters were good but a few more waiters would have been perfect. The buffets and menu restaurant food was good for the most part. There was no plug in at the computer desk. They broughtr 2 prong extension cord for a 3 prong plug which was useless.
Upon check in we were given a different room that we had paid, After discussing several minutes , we get the room we booked in kayak website.
Pool area, view, size of rooms, cleanliness, beach access, noise level, excellent service Still seemed expensive, food could be better
Having to pay for WIFI
Staff was excellent even before I arrived, especially because my flight was delayed and wanted to ensure my room remained reserved. The manager assured I was still a guest no matter how late I arrive, and also extended my check out time! Outstanding service in my book! Renovations limited the gift shop from being opened, but that's about it.
Great hotel, great value for your money, pay no attention to the complaints of lizzards and bugs on the rooms. All hotels in the Puerto Vallarta have this 'problem' because they are so close to nature.
We loved the gym facilities, tennis courts. Great breakfast spread which was included, rooms were nice and clean. Staff friendly and would deliver drinks to the beach/ poolside. Wished the beach was longer to walk (cove with little peninsulas that were rocky to cross to get to the next small cove) Didn't like the lunch restaurant/ outdoor eating options during the day.
Everything was pristine. I loved the temperature and style of the pools! So relaxing! Staff very friendly and helpful!
Room was nice and relaxing. Check in was easy. Free wifi only in lobby. Beach was not cleanest water, but most if you go to the beach usually you would leave PVR.
Every single person who works at the westin was SO nice! One morning at breakfast downstairs, I had mentioned to the waiter that my boyfriend and me were loving this place but getting bit so bad by mosquitos after he asked how we were doing. When I came back from getting my breakfast at the buffet, there was mosquito repellant sitting on our table. Arnoldo (our waiter) had left it there for us to use. So nice!! Everyone there was just happy and did whatever they could to make our stay enjoyable-which it was. This place is clean and set in the most perfect location. We cannot wait to go back!!!
Room size and amenities. Pool area. Expensive WiFi fees.
Arrived late, but was able to extend check out the next day before we moved on to our next destination. Clean room. Not crowded. Free WiFi in the lobby area. Nice pool area and access to the beach.
Room upgraded, lovely view, good pool waiters and restaurant staff. Reception manager tried to overcharge me on room price that was agreed with Active Hotels coming up with all sorts of reasons for the overcharge - had to argue over phone and face to face at reception with me actually adding up with a calculator at front desk to show manager that he was wrong. Eventually he agreed that he was wrong but by that time I was really stressed and this spoiled by last few days- really embarassing. Hotel no atmosphere at night, no entertainment, no music, same taped music around the pool for 14 days!! Location at entrance not nice as in dirty street downtown and had to walk through more dirty streets to get to the malecon. Left same comments with hotel for future customers
The staff was absolutely phenomenal. My partner and I were celebrating our 10 year anniversary and the staff was so welcoming and helpful. We booked one of the Honeymoon Suites and was delighted with it. The jacuzzi and hammock chair on the balcony were a very pleasant surprise and we used them every night. We loved that all the rooms had a sea view and the sunsets were gorgeous! The pool was clean and kept at just the perfect temperature. We will be booking again for next year's vacation.
Staff was very nice. The facilities were clean. It did not promise anything it did not deliver. The price was the same as the 5-star hotels 25 minutes south. My reason for staying at Villa Premier was that is was close into town. But the surrounding area kind of sucked. And Puerto Vallarta is not a super nice place and I would suggest to stay in a higher end place and venture out once a day into town.
The hotel was in a great location and close to downtown. The rooms were spacious and clean. Small balconies, late maid service,
I hardly ever take the time to review places I've stayed, but I felt the need to share my opinion on this one... My fiance and I recently stayed 3 nights in the honeymoon suite, and we couldn't have been happier! The room (and the entire resort) was gorgeous, the food and drinks were great, and the staff were all sooo friendly and accommodating. It was luxury & relaxation at its finest, and we would highly recommend this resort to anyone! We are missing it already :)
Staff was unconditional, very friendly and respectful. The pools were clean at all times as well as the whole property. The room was always clean and well maintained Their food is really good. Must try the japanese restaurant The beach is beautiful try snorkeling in there they have very cute fish. Sometimes, the trolley took forever. And if you are planning on leaving the property early before the trolley starts operating try to walk to the lobby because when we had our excursion to marrietas islands we called for a ride to the lobby ( we were in tower 5) and they never made it. We had to walk to the lobby and then wait for a taxi in the lobby. We ended up being late to the excursion meeting time. But were lucky enough to get in to the boat.
Beautiful atmosphere, large room, good food. They sneakily roped us into a VERY unpleasant time share presentation and were pretty rude about it. We only stayed for 1 night so they basically soured our entire opinion of the place. You also need to take a shuttle and go through a bunch of annoying stairs or elevators just to get from your room to the main lobby.
Beach next to the hotel. Large room. You don't need an all inclusive there is plenty of good options to eat and bats near the hotel. swiming pool was empty all the time because the beach is within the hotel. Vallarta Tours recommended, offered at the front desk.
Incredibly small room. Nothing like the booking pictures.
Great location! Staff are unfriendly and look like they hate their job from end on!
Word "meh" would help me define the value. Price value. Price is only encouraging unnecessary inflation for the town. It needs to be cheaper.
The location is really good. The rooms are clean (our maid was a delight; she worked hard and the cleanliness of the room showed it). The hotel staff is dynamite. The hotel is older and showing some signs to wear-and-tear, this is to be expected along the ocean. I would definitely stay at the Tropicana again! The restaurant and bar need some special attention! Some of the staff, in these locations, is ill-tempered and uncaring; this was in sharp contrast to the graciousness of the rest of the staff. Food choices were limited and the restaurant was not open for dinner. The Tropicana, to be a major hotel contender in P.V., needs to attend to their food and beverage departments.
Location, service, and clean. Old furniture,
For the most part, the staff was wonderful, and especially helpful and friendly were the guys supplying the pool and beach chairs and umbrellas. Also a special mention for Marcella. She does an excellent job of keeping the beach and pool areas in order, while also having a smile and being sociable. I don't want to forget our maid. She took great care of our room. Just a few things I didn't like. The internet service is not good. It's bad enough to have to go to the lobby for service, but even that was spotty. The staff in the restaurant were impatient and a little cranky at times, but I think this might be because, in my opinion, the restaurant is understaffed. Just one more thing. We have some friends that live in Puerto Vallarta, and wanted to have them up to our room to have a cocktail before we all went out to dinner. They were turned away, and think that was rediculous.
I loved this hotel. It was one street up from the beach which made it less busy so the staff was always available to help me. I enjoyed that it more of a Mexican feel rather than a resort feel although if you want that resort feel you just walk across the street. The lobby area was cool and airy with vines growing everywhere. This seemed like a hotel adults who want to relax would enjoy. The pool was on he rooftop. Hotel playa Los Arcos was across the street. My friends stayed there and we wore the same wristbands so I believe you could use that pool and beach area. The walls were very thin. I could hear everything in the lobby. And maybe they could hear me as well.
The hotel is basic but the location is great. The rooms are simple but they do have a mini refrigerator and a safe. The AC is amazing! The entire staff was very friendly. If you are a luxury or picky traveler you won't like this place. It is modest and simple. WIFI was free with only some bandwidth issues
location,friendly staff really really small
Mexican atmosphere, authentic Mexican furniture, very comfortable bed...!
This quaint hotel's location is right in the middle of so much of Vallarta - Old Vallarta, Playa Los Muertos, Malecon, great restaurants, Guadalupe church, and on and on. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. We had bit of a leaking A/C and they attended to it right away. We didn't use the facilities but had the option of using everything in the Hotel as well as across the street at the Los Arcos hotel. Overall a terrific value. The biggest problem was some noise. There was some construction going on nearby but also street sounds that cropped up from time to time in the night and morning. I'm a heavy sleeper and was fine but my wife who's a light sleeper woke up several times. The A/C worked well but leaked a pool of water in the room. We suspect it was due to heavy rains at the time. None of this caused us to regret our selection. It wasn't awful; just something to note.
clean hotel near dining and downtown. value was good for what we got through booking.com. staff was mostly friendly. only issue i had was when i requested a late check out, they refused. i asked to speak to a manager and they changed their mind and gave me an extra hour. just seemed weird, it was the first time i've ever been told no on a late check out request at any hotel.
The resort staff was amazing beyond any expectations. Friendly, helpful, and willing to go above and beyond to assist guests in any way. The resort is beautiful and well taken care of. The rooms are beautiful and comfortable. I would recommend this resort to anyone and plan to come back soon. Thank you Daniel, Marco, Alan and Adrian. There are more people I would like to thank but I didn't get their names but they were great. Nothing.
The Marina area is less congested than the Zona Romantica which gives the whole area a laid back feel. The pool was a great size and you steps away from the beach. Easy bus transportation to other parts of town. Several restaurants in the area if you don't want hotel food. The public areas were nice with decorated with a certain flair. I expected more luxe giving the relatively high price - not Four Seasons standards but maybe a little more. The rooms were nice enough but the decor seemed to lack a certain Mexican spark. The rooms were more like generic hotel rooms - nice but generic.
The staff at the front desk and in lobby area, plus concierge went above and beyond to ensure we were assisted in a timely fashion. The proximity to walk over to the Vallarta Marina was great. The drinks on-site are very expensive.
The location. Ocean views. Pool area. The food could be better around the pool. Mikado was great as usual. The coffee shop could be better organized for order taking, paying. The bar is very nice and great atmosphere.
I loved how close the hotel was to the downtown area. I also liked the breakfast offered every morning (we stayed 5 nights). The staff at the front was very helpful when I asked how to rent jetskis. I did not like how the cleaning service came so late in the day, around 4-5 pm, would of preferred if they came to clean the room earlier.
Great location, friendly staff and great value !! Beds a little firm!
Cheap, near marina. Check-in wasn't possible until 615pm, supposed to be 3pm. Very slow at cleaning rooms and keys given to others checking in while we waited. No blow dryer. Wifi is nearly non-existent, sometimes it works, usually it doesn't.
This is a wonderful value in Vallarta! The staff were wonderful, the room clean and very attractive. I would have liked to have used my computer in my room, but it was available in the lobby.
Great value for the price. Clean rooms, good food and a nice pool. Easy access to the city, airport, and bus station. Staff was very friendly and courteous. Planning on staying again if I return to valalrta
We only overnighted on our way by bus to La. Manzanilla. The location was pefect; close to the airport and bus depot and many restaurants to choose from within easy walking distance. The marina was a great place to walk in the evening.
A older property, well kept. Managed profissionaly calm with access to shops, restaurant and the marina. Price / value a rare find in Puero Vallarta.
The location is excellent ... just outside the City Center, easy access to restaurants and bars. The rooms are extremely outdated, the restaurant was overpriced and the food was poor.
The pool area & view was great. The a/c wasn't real cold.
Convenient location to places of interest. Prices have really gone up since my last visit.
The staff is excellent. This is not the place for someone who is well traveled. Even the most exclusive rooms are basic, No tubs, no frills. Spa is a joke, Lack of service and amenities. Pools are small and crowded with children, Beach is insanely small and rocky. Very limited lounging on the beach side. The place is covered with Timeshare families. So large parties with many screaming kids! Not the place for Honeymooners, Young singles/ couples, or a relaxing getaway. Best for a family of 5 on a budget.
Jorge who served drinks/food on the beach was excellent. Isabelle at front desk was very helpful. The bellman were very kind and held our bags for 3 days which was great! The servers at breakfast buffet were exceptional - able to order specialty coffees and made to order eggs, etc. Thank you! Thought we had booked a "deluxe" room with balcony. Learned upon check in that "deluxe" does not guarantee balcony or bed type. Rooms could use some updating. Beach service varied greatly depending on server. Great location! Great for large group - we had 25!
The pool and beach were wonderful. The food was great. Loved the omelette, smoothie and quesadilla stations for breakfast. The fish tacos are a must! The grill not only offered hamburgers, hot dogs and chicken wings but guacamole and pico. The rooms were all pool and ocean view and very adequate. But what really stood out was the staff. Not only were they friendly and accommodating to the guests but never saw any impatience or aggravation between coworkers. We WILL be back to Puerto Vallarta and it WILL be at Fiesta Americana.
Loved everything about this place. Great food, great selection of beers and cocktails as part of the all inclusive package. My only complaint would be that the beds could be a bit more comfortable.
The hospitality of the staff.
All around great stay!!!!!
Great people, food and drinks Had to leave to early to go to the airport
great location if you're looking for a beach and a swimming pool. all rooms have ocean view, are clean and have the expected comfort for this standard. Breakfast restaurant in particular is super: in open air and at the beach side. it might be the only negative point of this hotel, but the sound isolation of the rooms is terrible (concrete building, tiles and concrete all over the rooms and corridors (no carpets) boost any sound all over the building ).
The staff worked realy hard to make a pleasant experience. The food was satisfactory at best. Not a good value for the money. Service to time share holders was a priority, the rest of the guests were given less attention.
Staff is very friendly and polite, always willing to please the customer. Comfortable bed. . Hotel pillows very hard. Very nice small beach, pool. Nice bar in the lobby that stays open late. The Ceviche was great at the restaurant by the beach. Beach waiters are excellent. Not being able to accommodate large groups in restaurants, only one table for 8 people in each restaurant, and always taken. Waiters were not permitted to join 2-3 tables to accommodate my party. Tables available at buffet but not too many choices of food, gets tiring after few days. In order to share some meals together as a family we end up eating out at La Leche and town restaurants, spending money not in budget. Would not recommend for groups with more than 5 people.
Wonderful lobby, all rooms with ocean view, comfortable beds. On check in, the desk quoted 2 1/2 times the rate I had booked. I straightened out with a copy of the email from booking.com, On checking out, the same person did the same thing. One mistake I can understand. The same again, and within 24 hours makes me a bit leary. Service around the pool was good, but server never returned with change, thus "earning" a much higher tip than normal.
Well maintained, nice ambiance, comfortable beds, nice/big bathroom Own food/drinks may not be brought into the hotel (bag search)! Exaggerated prices for breakfast, internet etc. Room doors are not soundproof.
good location wish they have free internet....food and drinks a little bit higher.
The Resort was pretty spot on and the lobby was simply stunning. We stayed on the 9th floor and got a great view of the beach and the surrounding area. Hotel staff was friendly and there were plenty of drinks. Family friendly resort Not exactly for younger couples looking to party. The resort next door looked like they were having a blast the entire time. Friendly Vallarta next door is where the party was happening: DJ, Mariachi, Banda, they had everything. I fee like Fiesta Americana should do something similar if not bigger. Not too much of a bummer though, quick taxi ride to where all the night life is happening
The staff and service at this hotel were above and beyond expectations. The location is perfect being that it is steps away from everything that Viejo Vallarta offers and even closer to the malecon and the beach. I would recommend this hotel to anyone. Like one of the reviewers noted, I too was placed in a room that faced the air conditioning units in the courtyard. The best outcome for this situation is that I know I would have been moved to a better room if I had asked. But I was only there one night so didn't bother.
Very very clean and comfy. Great breakfasts. Close to beach & restaurants Can't think of nothing
Booked at a great price of $50. Not sure I would stay at their published price of 1200 peosos. A bit expensive. Very clean, very comfortable, very quiet, very friendly staff, great location, but no character. No character. Could have been in any city on n the US
Sightseeing & relaxed & ate ALOT of authentic Mexican Foods Loved EVERYTHING I definitely will be back VERY soon
The breakfast buffet was good. The hotel is in poor condition and not maintained. The staff is poorly informed about resort information. Except for the breakfast buffet, the food quality is poor. We had water running across our bathroom floor and they would not give us extra towels.
I was staying there during a conference, and for that purpose it was sufficient. The rooms were clean and the food was decent. It was located across the street from the conference hotel, and was half the price. The first two rooms they gave us were unsuitable: one was not clean and the other was stiflingly hot because there were no large windows and the ac was broken. However, because of this they upgraded us to a Junior Suite, which was spacious and suitable. It was fine for a business trip, but it is definitely not a luxury resort.
Nothing, it was the most horrible experience I have ever had. From the under age drinking to the hard as a rock bed. The food was the same for breakfast lunch and dinner. Again, the rooms look like nothing on your web site. Everything, elevator, food, room, dirty pool.
The views from the pool are amazing! There is a club in front of the hotel that plays loud base heavy music during the day. It didn't bother me, but important to know if you plan on spending a lot of time upstairs on the deck.
Great value. Very friendly and helpful staff. Great location - short walk to Malecon. Grocery store right on the corner. A nice walk to Old PV. Wonderful breakfast. Try the Mexican eggs! Very minor - the pool is very small, however it is clean and does the trick in the heat of the day.
We were upgraded for our stay to a grand master suite which was phenomenal! We loved the view from the wrap around balcony and the room was very comfortable. The pool and beach were also fantastic! We really enjoyed our stay overall and had a great time. The food was decent but not overly impressive, especially for the price of the all-inclusive. The reservations at the restaurants booked up prior to our arrival so we never had the chance to eat anywhere except the buffet, so book your reservations early. Overall a great time though! Would definitely go back.
The staff are the friendliest you'll find in PVR. The food was excellent too. We were surprised with prime rib at the seafood restaurant. Yum! I didn't like that we basically missed our last day of vacation because of Hurricane Patricia. It barely rained and I never saw any high winds.
Our 'concierge' did the normal, take a 90 minute tour, get some free stuff. The 90 minutes was 4 hours. The free stuff was free anyway. When we didn't but at the end of the tour, two con artists drove us back and set us up for a free breakfast and free tickets to Rhythms of the Night and tour of a new place the next morning WITH NO SALES PITCH. I wouldn't go. My wife and daughter-in-law went. During the taxi ride they were assured NO SALES PITCH several times. When they arrived, they couldn't have breakfast or the free tickets unless they agreed to a "90 minute sales pitch". They left and had to pay for a taxi back. A wasted morning. The bad was so bad that I can't remember anything good about VDP.
The food here is great! You can also bring in your own food to cook (the rooms have full kitchens and there are grills outside), but I would consider eating at the restaurants. A tip: The wifi is not free, but if you buy something from the restaurant in the market, you can ask for a wifi code that is valid for the entire day. Otherwise, the charge is $10 per day per device. I was never approached once by a sales rep in the lobby, so that wasn't a problem as some reviews have suggested. On the beach, however, everyone has something to sell. The hotel is not close to downtown, so a cab ride is required. Also, there are plenty of people trying to sell you things on the beach and that can get a bit tiring.
I loved that the hotel is on the beach and centrally located to everything! All was within walking distance. The front desk staff were amazing. Rooms are a little out dated. They should at least put some pictures on the walls. But my biggest pet peeve is having Wifi only in the lobby. We are in 2014 how hard can it be to have Wifi in all the rooms.
