the hotel is really nice and staff work hard to make your stay awesome The elevator on my floor was in and out of service about three or four times during the three day stay , it just made it difficult to get to and from the rooftop pool ... And the room service food portions are small based on the amount charged, and the person taking the order seemed to have a bit of a attitude one night
great location. rooftop pool is great. delux room?! not so sure we got one. f
Great location to get straight to the beach. Walking distance to Lincoln Rd, Washington Ave and Ocean Dr!
Great location, very comfortable stay. Everything was within walking distance -- food, shops, and of course the beach. Staff was super nice and helpful. Worth the $!
It was literally a dream, best hotel experience yet! Nothing! I wish I could've stayed longer
The best hotel a block from the beach with great accommodations and value. The elevator was extremely slow
Everything Pool closed at 9
there was an incredible rooftop pool party. Nunlike I've ever seen before. DJ's best in the world. The only thing that I didn't like. Was that I had to leave!
Location is great! Price was fair. Rooms are small and walls are thin. Room service also lacks a bit.
Decor and bed So noisy ...thin paper walls and doors.. No sleep at all. They also gave me wrong information for parking
The Hotel Victor is located right in the middle of fun Biking, Bikinis, boozing and dancing till dawn but and what a big butt South Beach has, bring your money, valet $40 a night drinks there magic number is $20 a drink and 20% added to everything courtesy of the people that don't know how to tip... So bad service is the norm because they get paid ether way. But no were on Earth will see the eclectic mix of people just wanting to have a good time, then in South Beach Nothing Works when you pay $300 a night and cant take a shower because the shower is plugged FAIL. Or go to have a soak in the Roman tub until you turn it on and it spits nasty bits of the last people that used it out FAIL Or the Ac vents are so plugged that it took 2 maintenance people 2 days to get it right FAIL. And the worst part is they have your money because you used a new service and paid up front wont do that again FAIL FAIL FAIL. Spent $1000 dollars in 2 day on room and did not get to enjoy it Priceless NOT!!!
Hotel Victor is in prime location mid beach, great new Mgt! Possible price barrier...
The pool was great and the beach was really close to the hotel and the food was excellent but expensive overal rating good Unexpected bill when checking out not fare !!! They said free wifi but I pay to used it at the end
The location is great especially because no buildings across the street, just beach access.
Good staff, excellent location, nice rooms, free bikes, steam room $25 resort fee. Breakfast was ok but not great.
Room was setup well. TV install on wall was slick & well-done. Free breakfast each morning was convenient and saved us money (croissants, muffins & high-class coffee). Pool & view were unbeatable. Staff was very polite and always available. Best place I've stayed in in South Beach. Three of the lights in the room did not work.
Location was great and I was impressed with the renovations. Very nicely done. I could hear people walking above me. Their footsteps caused light fixture on my ceiling to rattle and both sounds were a bit annoying late at night. Breakfast was pretty bad. Everything was cold, in using the eggs, sausage and French toast. Also the total bill is a little more than what I thought I paid. The resort fee is included in the initial bill, without tax. The resort fee, with taxes, is actually charged at check out, which made my total about $8 more than expected.
Location and staff. Place is dirty. Stayed there in the past around 2 years ago and had a great experience. Place Has not been kept up. Rugs dirty, bathroom wall stained with something I would rather not mention. When checked in was told we got upgraded to Penthouse at no charge. Penthouse was old, dirty, filthy rugs with hot tub that did not work. Really??? Not an upgrade but a way to get someone in that room no one else would take. Declined upgrade and demanded the room we booked. Great location and staff but dirty. Also toiletries not replaced daily. Bring your own supplies
In the middle of south beach. Great service, front desk was very helpful. Clean comfortable rooms. Not for older couples or families, this does not include me but it is a forewarning. I didn't know gratuity would be added automatically until I arrived at my first day. But I was advised on the first day. The cleaning ladies were on time and did a great job, so gratuity was worth it.
Location was great! Breakfast was okay. Ocean 10, great Resturant service, connected to hotel. We tried getting beach towels twice, they were out. Didn't have more than one bath towel in the room, needed more before shower. They never came. 2 different service fees $22/day which really is $44/day.
i loved the location it was in the heart of south beach, also loved the pool area and how lively the hotel was. i didnt care for how pricey everything was
the room was fairly clean and the cleaning crew was helpful. The front desk staff was rude and gave us attitude when we complained. When my husband called at 1am in the morning to say the music is so loud that our floors are vibrating, all the receptionist offered was ear plugs... Seriously. The pictures online are really updated because the lobby and the pool area were really old and dirty. The roof deck was not even open, the only place to hangout was pretty much the restaurant which was super expensive. Definitely not staying here EVER AGAIN.
The only thing I liked about this hotel was the location. It's across the street from the beach. On Kayak this looks like a beautiful luxury hotel, but quickly upon arriving you realize it only looks like that from a distance and they have an amazing photographer for their site photos. Kayak was great but Breakwater is a sleezy lemon. Upon our arrival at 1 am Saturday we were tired and eager to get to our room. The receptionist strongly persuaded us to upgrade to a much more expensive room for $180 + tax so it would be quiet. He then proceeded to charge my card but forgot the tax so asked me to give him my credit card again so he could charge the sales tax. He also informed us upon arrival there is a $22/day resort fee but this was not stated anywhere on Kayak. Also as we were dealing with check in another guest came up to the desk and asked for ear plugs because the club music outside the hotel was too loud. And YES it was VERY LOUD. We were in a room that was pretty quiet for what it was but on Sunday night, by boyfriend WHO IS A DJ wasn't even able to fall asleep until 4 am because it was so loud! The room itself had a nice view but it had a lot of issues from lazy upkeep. The bed sheets had stains on them, the bench at the foot of the bed had weird sticky dirt marks from removed tape stains, the bathroom tub was worn down cracked and stained (didn't use it unfortunately because it looked so gross), and the shower floor was cracked. Using the TV was also a mess. The remote didn't work and no channel guide. We tried multiple times to dial the front desk from the hotel phone to have these addressed but the line would disconnect every time we hit the front desk or 0 button. Not sure if they don't want to hear from you, the line is inundated with calls, or something was wrong with the phone. The staff has not been trained to be friendly and welcoming to their guests. They view us as a bother and just want a fast interaction so they can quickly move on to the next opportunity to make money. The waiters/waitresses at the front of the hotel in the morning were more concerned with snagging passersby (as every other restaurant on that street) for business than greeting their current guests eating breakfast. I said good morning to a few of them and received very cold and snobby responses. They didn't make eye contact with me and didn't offer any interaction. So rude! One day I was using a computer in the lobby and a manager was severely scolding a server right there in the lobby for doing something that wasn't appropriate. She was very nasty and mean to him, and the one way scolding went on for literally 10 minutes. It was so unpleasant and uncomfortable to witness that as a guest. The employees should have a private area they use for this kind of thing, not out in the public lobby! This hotel is appropriate for frat boys/college aged kids that want to party hard, trash rooms, and recover on the beach afterwards without making much effort in getting there. We were paying over $300/night for this room and it's evident the Breakwater heavily relies on their location to make visitors happy and turn over business quickly, but does not put in any other effort. Definitely won't be staying here again. :(
Location was excellent (1 street to get to Miami Beach & Ocean Drive). Room nice & confortable. Hotel staff was very kind, Richie at reception is very helpful and will make you feel like at home.
Location to South Beach
The room was a nice size but they have bed bugs and that hotel reeks of piss! Its smelle like a portable washroom, especially in the lobby! The hotel staff was rude too! Bed bugs, pissy smell, and rude staff
Nice, clean hotel for a very good price Some rooms are not really quiet...
Very convenient location; friendly staff; quality bedsheets; parking lot next door; proximity to the beach and pedestrian shopping street. Carpeting in my hotel room was full of stains and should be replaced. No stopper in sink and bathtub (minor nuisance). The day of my departure I stored my suitcase and wool cardigan in the luggage room until it was time to leave for the airport. When I returned from lunch to pick up my bags, my newly purchased wood cardigan was missing (stolen or misplaced?). The cardigan had been placed in the storage room along with my bags. The hotel clerk was adamant that my cardigan could not have been lost in the storage room and insinuated that I must have taken it along when I left the hotel for lunch. Because of this I was cold throughout my return flight to France.
This hotel is a block from the beach - great location. all you need is near. Employees and the staff are very kind and gentlemen. Is very clean hotel and the cafe in the morning offers fruit, orange juice, otmeal, cereals, bread varied, boiled and scrambled eggs, hash botatos, sausicha, x, and a delicious cafe. all for a great price. I will return to this hotel in January 2015. I recommend.
There was a dance club to the rear of the hotel that played loud (deep bass) music until 4 AM. The sound of the bass resonated throughout the hotel room and woke us up. We needed to use ear plugs in order to go back to sleep.
Close proximity to South Beach Could do with A/C in foyer/check in
Location Room disappointing, bed small, bathroom cracked tiles, poor shower, telephone did not operate. Rate expensive
Unreliability of broadband connection. Wi-fi and internet cable both didn't work but that may have been something to do with my computer.
Position in the Art Deco area Parking is a problem at night - especially on weekends. Thousands of people come to Miami South beach so you may cruise a lot for a space (including public garages).
For the price I paid this was the best value hotel I have ever stayed in. Staff was fully flexible and attentive to my needs and knew the excellent surroundings of the hotel. You could actually have a meaningful conversation with the dude caring your luggage. Room was big and with many good practical and esthetic genius details. On a hotel this class you will normally have a complementary bottle of water. But beside this I can't put one single finger...
Location is central to everything in South Beach. The staff is very helpful and goes out of their way to make sure guest have an enjoyable stay. The room was very clean and the cleaning staff did a great job keeping the room clean even sweeping the sand from the beach off the floor. The walls are paper thin and you can hear guest in other rooms all around. Guests in the halls can get noisy and those sounds come through pretty clearly.
Room design Swimming pool
Great location, lovely hotel especially the rooftop pool. Cocktail bar and catering brilliant. Staff very friendly and helpful.
Service, comfort, style, pool, location, this place was top notch in every way.
Walkable to restaurants, clubs or the beach.
could not fault the house keeping, very clean. Excellent location and friendly staff. the bar downstairs did not have a great atmosphere. (the weather for us was not warm enough to be at the bar on the roof top- which is fab), but the downstairs bar lacked appeal.
The staff was amazing. The only thing that bothered me was the internet was not working.
Location, Pool and the enviroment. The walls are too thin you should stay on the third floor
Everything. Super hotel with quality staff. The rooftop pool and bar were excellent, the room was superb and our whole experience something to remember.
the rooftop pool, the view from the pool, the additional beach beds and towels only breakfast a la carte
Lovely accommodations, excellent customer service, beach, shopping, restaurants, good recommendations for dining Crazy spring break activity- couldn't relax and enjoy a glass of wine at cafe due to nightlife, traffic was a bear when I arrived but handled well by concierge and valet
Very clean, friendly staff, great food and comfortable accommodations. All around a great experience. Pool was small but nice
We just stayed overnight, and arrived very late. Front lobby was open late (great!) and check-in easy. Valet accessible right in front (great!) Clean, fluffy linens (great!) Hotel not noisy (great!). Staff very helpful (great!) And, you're right on South Beach (great!). Didn't get to the pool, but it looked nice from the window in the dark (oh, well). Old elevator is cool, but some instructions for those of us not born in 1855 always appreciated. Valet parking $35 a day, but hey, it's Miami, and we didn't helicopter in. Typical narrow room/layout for the 1920's. They do a good job with space saving, though. Doesn't bother me, but might bother some. Also, the hotel front is easy to miss at midnight. We drove right by it, and we weren't inebriated.
perfect location, quiet even close to ocean drive ( a good quietness policy to sign at check in), nice little pool nothing
Staff is friendly and helpful. Rooms are too small.
The staff extremely friendly. The hotel very clean. The decor of the room was tasteful. Beach front a plus, free towels to the beach and 2 chairs at the beaching waiting on you. Great experience and would recommend to friends. No pool in the hotel.
Loved that they gave free breakfast and two free drinks during happy hour. Plus the beach was across the street. The room was very small and outdated. The a/c wall unit was very loud and would walk you up when it would turn off and on. Was hard the adjust the shower to a good temperature and every two minutes while talking a shower it would go from cold the very very hot real fast.
Very happy with the location, room service, food, staff. Nothing
Location of the hotel is brilliant, bang in the middle of SoBe, the deco and names of the rooms are brilliant and innovative, love the fact that they leave next day's weather prediction and choclates on your pillow every evening Rooms are small
Interesting and quirky decor. Very good shower, comfortable room, surprisingly quit given its location. Staff friendless. Breakfast surprisingly good Parking is a hassle, can get tiring walking through an aggressively marketed bar/restaurant to get to your room. But pretty much every hotel on the strip has those issues
Excellent location. If you want to be in the middle of the action this is a great location Rooms could use some updating. Most of the street noise was filtered out but there was more guest noise than I would have expected. Décor is definitely eclectic. They had incense in the hallways which was very strong - gave us both headaches.
The room was nice and clean. N/A
Beach towels and chairs are included, the location was perfect and the restaurant, although expensive was excellent! Nothing
Excellent service. Nice and warm staff. Delicious food. Check in & check out fast and agile.
The hotel was great; service was top notch; i would absolutley recommend this hotel to someone looking to stay on ocean ave...location is in the middle of everything there is no pool, however the hotel provides outstanding beach ammenities for free (great comfy chairs and towles) The valet service was the only bad part of my stay at the pelican. i was told to call for my car 20 minutes ahead of when i needed it. It took an hour on one occasion and 45 minutes on another. I recommend that if you have dinner reservations call an hour in advance for your car.
Great hotel for the price. NO BUGS!!! Everything was great except the bed. The bed was really HARD!!
The location was excellent and the room was nice & bright. The hotel is refurbished nicely, although the finishing is a bit rough. Also, we were located on the backside of the hotel where the view was not so nice (backstreet alley), but then again: we only went to the hotel to have some sleep after a night on Ocean Drive... ;-)
Proximity to the beach, Ocean Drive night life and shopping Almost all staff were excellent and fiendly. One was not.
The staff was very friendly and helpful. Our room was small but very clean and comfortable. The hotel exceeded my expectations. No complaints at all!
Close to the ocean The wireless network access did not work
the location is excellent, it is across the street from the beach. The front desk staff was very helpful. I had a room with a king bed and I had very little space to move around the bed. The room is extremely small. Valet parkin is very slow. You have to call for your car at least 30mins in advance.
Staff were very accomodating and changed our room after our first night(at our request due to noise),great location, hip and trendy hotel. Would stay there again and strongly recommend it for anyone. They even provide you with beach towels, which was great as I'd forgot ours! Noisy doors, but have already had response to my feedback comment card and these are currently due to be replaced. This was only minor though as everything else was great and it would not put me off recommending it
We stayed here for a hen weekend and the staff were fantastic. I've yet to find a hotel who are as helpful cheerful and accomodating. Sabine in My Thai looked after a huge group of us and was extremely professional and organised as well as really good fun! The food they served was delicious and presented well.Youshf at the front desk was really pleasent and helped keep me calm considering how big our group was and also looked after our belongings which we practically dumped on him!..and to Nigel the duty manager who was also very good to us Everything we asked for was dealt with in such a professional manner. Considering there were 30 girls not one of them had a bad word to say about The Beacon- we were all blown away Not a thing was wrong with the Beacon. In fact my mum and my sisters hope to come back for a nite in December! Oh and Bernadette in reservations was a lifesaver and handled an extremely difficult task of sorting out our rooms! Thankyou!!!!
Everyone is accommodating
Location, friendly staff 2 domestic bottle beers $20.00 and they automatically charged gratuity of $3.00 to take the tops off the bottles. Ate at the curbside restaurant in front of the hotel. I had bacon, scrambled eggs and oatmeal and my wife had salmon omelette and we both had a beer and the bill was $85.00 I live in Vegas and those are higher than Bellagio prices and Bellagio is a palace fit for a king compared to this place.
The staff was wonderful and accommodating. The complimentary breakfast was a nice touch, as well as the beach chairs and towels. The location is perfect. The only thing we could think of was the bathroom door in our room - it was made of lightly frosted glass that left little to the imagination when anyone was using it!
We wanted to experience the life style of south beach and thought that the Beacon would give us this opportunity. We had a great time and the hotel is located right were all the action is during the day and night. The art deco buildings and inside deco just made our two night visit the best ever. knowing that the hotels back in the day had small rooms, narrow hallways and a small lobby just added to our enjoyment of stay at the Beacon. Even though some of the reviews made negative comments about this we loved every moment we spent at the hotel and time on South Beach. We liked everything.....
The staff were amazingly helpful. The hotel itself was beautiful to an almost unbelievable level. Our view from the 8th flood was gorgeous. The window opened!! We even asked for somewhere to store a few mixers and leftovers and they wheeled us a small fridge! Awesome.
Location and staff Also quite for sleeping even though spring break Driving on strip
rooms were clean, friendly staff, pretty quiet for the party area of south beach, good food at resturant, safe, convient store attached to hotel elevator was very scary- just used stairs, maid comes knocking early- put up do not disturb sign!
The room was nice and across from the beach. You can walk to everything, it's just a little expensive but hey its Miami. This is not a family friendly hotel in my opinion, but the staff was great. Check in went smoothly, the room was clean. You could not ask for more. The room was very small and we were on the main floor so we heard all the noise on the block and traffic.
Loved the location. Hote staff was friendly and very accommodating. Hotel was beach side and provided beach chairs and towels for guests. It was also within feet of the legendary South Beach bar "Mango's". We were even given free passes to get in! It was also within walking distance of the "Hop on, Hop off" tour bus stop that we used throughout the weekend to get around Miami. Noise level at night was somewhat high, but to be expected from any Ocean Drive hotel. We did hear a lot of noise from our upstairs neighbors.
Nothing. Dirty, broken down, non-existent staff assistance, tiny rooms.
Easy check in Easy check out Was able to upgrade the room! Very satisfied with our upgrade big room and bathroom. Would defanitly recommended to others and even stay again at the roommate Waldorf. Perfect location for staying at the beach. Went for the Fourth of July, fireworks were right out front on the beach :))) Small elevator but everything else was fine :)
The location was very good. Right next to the beach, clubs and shopping areas. The people next door have been way too loud that I had to call the reception at 2am. Since "the party" didn´t stop I had to call again at 3am. I think it´s still should be like a hotel and not like a hostel where all the teens can party all night long when other ones need to sleep.
The location was close to places to eat. Older building, paper thin walls, bed very uncomfortable.
The beachwalk. Loud restaurant and bar at the entrance. Other things that didn't work: elevator (with expired certificate), remote control for tv, two light bulbs that never were replaced during stay, battery for smoke detector and mattresses that were of sub-IKEA quality.
Location is perfect!
It was very central close to the beach and activities. Right in the heart of the Art Deco District. It was very noisy. You could hear every door close and not sound proof at all.
Good staff very close to beach highly recommend.
Very nice location close to all the action and the beach, clubs, good food. hotel has paper thin walls, we could hear everything, doors shutting close, everyone who walk in the hall way, all the noise seemed like it was inside the room, the bathroom was old and durty we actually bought a bottle of bleach spray to clean it, Ive have stayed in other hotels on the same location and never had that problem. but if you are looking not to ever sleep, and to be close to all the action is perfect.
Service was excellent, half priced appetizers and drinks during happy hour till 9 pm, beach is one block away from the hotel. Not allowed to have outside food, beverage, or alcohol in the hotel. No refrigerator. Next door to a Party Hotel, so can be rather loud.
Design Small bathroom
loved the breakfast, drinks & POOL!!! rooms were a bit musty, and the AC is LOUD
Location, close to beach. 2nd floor is not as renovated and nice as 3rd floor; water temperature in shower changed too much from hot to cold; checking in and out took a long time.
Convenience to the beach and the excellent outside space The room could have done with redecoration - it was a little shabby
The staff were extremely helpful. They arranged my room for me before 3 pm. provided me with towels at reception immediately as i entered (i was wet from the rain); they handed me the Fedex package that was delivered for me before my arrival; They were extremely helpful in following up with Fedex on a package that was not delivered. Everyone was very helpful, friendly and made my stay a pleasure. I even received two free drinks ( vouchers). I can recommedn the hotel to anyone. I received the best service ever and I have stayed in hotels all over the world, as I travel frequently.
The hotel, the staff, the value. I would like to say it is all a 1 out of 5 so I can keep this secret to myself.....but they really out do themselves and are worth the max score of 5 with ease!
Location, location, location! In the middle of Art Deco district, close to the beach and everything else. Best dining on Ocean Drive. Rooms are quiet and the patio is beautiful. Staff are very friendly. Housekeeping could be better.
Location, location, location. Great Service nothing to complain
Friendly staff, clean & comfy suite, close to the beach
Loved the architecture - location was amazing - lobby and porches were wonderful - staff very pleasant and helpful perhaps a few more amenities - room could use a chair for reading
