Great location, walking distance to everything and a tresco right across the street. Friendly staff, very helpfu. Good wifi connection in com areas. No kitchen. Stayed for two weeks and has to either eat out or at the hostels restaurant. Not ideal when staying long period of time. Shower rooms where tiny, not much room to move. Building site outside my window, load early in the morning and late at night
Toilets and showers Luggage room is not properly secured
Surprisingly comfortable youth hostel, helpful staff. Good value for money. Noisy bar but luckily our room was far away from it. Noise from other residents coming home late disturbing at night.
Location was good. Reception staff very friendly. Breakfast was a bit like organised chaos and the kitchen and accomodation staff were very unfriendly and unhelpful. Also, charging £2 per towel per day was a bit ridiculous.
The place is fantastic and the staff was very kind.
Friendly and clean. Breakfast included. Cosy. Nice building.Good sound-proofing. Room too small, Lockers not big enough for small suitcase.
Price Room was a bit small
Annoying and dirty.
Very helpfull staff and some are even french speakers. Great breakfast organisation and good choice. Nice to have a bar in the hostel for the first night ! Having a big and comfy living room would be nice.
Cleanliness of room and other facilities. Price was excellent value for the money.
It has washer and dryer facilities. Friendly staff. Remind me my time when i was living in university dorm ten years ago. The bed is a bit dirty, too many tennagers making noises at night. Water from shower is too slow.
Close to tube stations in central/west London. Easy access to all of central London from here. Museums close by. Very reasonably priced. Rather noisy air conditioning in room.
Pros: nice, helpful people at the reception; very good location; Cons: not too compfortable bed; very small shower; it was quite cold in the room in November.
I have been coming to B-P house for nearly twenty years, and it has always been a great place to stay. The building is well maintained and the staff friendly. The decor in the bedrooms is a little old, and the room we had cramped as there was a sofa bed in there (Rm 401).
Staff displayed exceptional courtesy , were very competent and helpful when fielding requests .In this group setting I found superior levels of consideration among fellow guests.. .The buffet breakfast menu is healthy and the food was good. My family have been part of Guides & Scouting movement over the years & hope to spend a couple of vacation days here in in London in 2008.. .Most of all, the facility is safe, spotless ,very central and convenient for getting around .Good people, good work. In spite of the 'no takeouts' notices ,noticed some packing sandwiches for their lunches... This must mess up the food preparation planning , is not fair for others ,leaving much less choice for..later breakfast arrivals.
Location was great. Bathroom was very small but we knew that it was a hostel. The sheets and pillow cases were very clean but the duvets and pillows themselves could have done with replacing.
Central Room was cold. Breakfast choice poor
Hotel staff were very helpful with arranging taxis and giving bus info and directions. The food was good and food prices reasonable. Not enough internet availability. Not enough telephone availability. Not enough showers.
excellent location room quite cold, no tea/coffee facilities in room
I liked that it was well located (less than 10 minutes walk to the Elephant & Castle tube station), St Pancras train station is 15 minutes away by tube and there are many buses around the hostel. You can also find a Spar and a Tesco Express supermarket as well as many kebabs next door if you want to grab something to eat. I stayed in a 4 beds dorm wich was clean and I had a nice view on the Shard. Toilets and shared showers were clean too. Wifi was only available in sharing areas (only reception, " bar " and tv lounge). Also, the windows in the dorm were old and made of glass that was partially shattered so you could hear the traffic as if you were sleeping in the street. It can also be quite cold so I don't recommend staying there during fall or winter. Bed's matresses aren't confortable so I wouldn't recommend staying there for too long either. When it comes to eating in, there is a bar near the reception that sells £4 pizzas, sandwiches, coffee and many other things but it is only open from 12 to 19 and during these hours there wasn't anyone working at the bar so I couldn't get anything...
Lively place and great atmosphere. I stayed in a twin bunk ensuite and was perfect for a little more privacy. Bus stop right outside the gates Wifi only available in common room and entertainment room
This is the second time I have ever stayed in a hostel...I can say with confidence that I will definately stay here again... $20 a night?! Who could say no! Also close to Elephant and Castle tube station too!! I personally dont think it a good idea to have children (both male and female) sharing the same shower and toilet facilities as adults. I would strongly recommend having at least 1 floor dedicated to minors!
The location of the hostel was great! My first night there, I walked into town to see the London Eye, Parliament/Big Ben, and Westminster Abbey. Then, I walked back. Round trip: 1 h, 30 mins. The hostel is also close to a Tube station, so getting anywhere is a breeze. Staff were friendly, price was good, and there was a good mix of travellers. Close to a major road, so you get a lot of noise :( Only two showers and two toilets between approx. 25 people. I'm actually quite surprised it wasn't too much of an issue. Bathrooms could have been a bit cleaner.
Friendly and welcoming staff, location excellent, warm room and hot water. For the price very good value. Difficult to find bathrooms and toilets - should be marked on the door.
Nice friendly staff Very basic facilities, very dated and the carpets need a good clean, new towels required and cleaner linen.
Great wifi. Kind front-desk personnel.
Gd staff at check in. Breakfast staff less impressive - alth busy with lots of things ! Cleannliness no kettle or tea Worn furnishings
nothing much , honestly speaking, It is dirty and had bugs I was bitten everywhere u can think of. nothing much , honestly speaking, It is dirty and had bugs I was bitten everywhere u can think of.
Very good location! The hotel is close to three underground tube stations, Charing Cross Station, Temple Station, and Covent Garden Station. It is almost at the center of London, and serves as a good transportation hub. I didn't find any special bad points. The shower drained a little bit slowly, but the other youth hostels that I had been also had the same problem.
Great location, cheap for the area Some noise up to 3am from the inevitable party-crowd travellers that such a cheap place attacts. No hot water one day. Blocked showers one day.
No good points Very dirty. I book for a room for 2 persons. They gave me a room for 1 person with an extra-bed. Extra bed was very uncomfortable
Nada positivo, solo la ubicación Mala atención, pésima limpieza, baños compartidos sucios, habitación sin calefacción, simplemente horrible. No se lo recomiendo a nadie
Nothing This hotel obviously had an S missing from the word. If there had not been a £50 deposit lost I would have relocated to somewhere else. There was no lift, 5+flights of stairs before you get to a room where the curtains are only hanging on by a couple of hooks, you were expected to make your own bed, and there were traps for cockroaches under the beds.
location and staff broken plug sockets, dirty floor and toilet facilities
The reception person from the us living in the uk (1) dirty carpet, not vacuumed, (2) minimal breakfast offered, (3) manager turned off heat in bar while I was working on my computer, (4) no light in shower room and did not bother to replace when brought to their attention, (5) housekeeping ceased after the second day, (6) had to prepay full 7 days upon check-in and had a key deposit, (7) wi-fi only available in the bar, (8) no change of linen for the full 7-day stay, (9) no change of bath towel and no bath toiletries (** this list is not a complaint, just a statement of fact **)
The people who worked here were the dumbest losers I'd ever experienced. The guy at the front desk wouldn't book me in, he made me go online to book in even though I was standing at the front desk. I asked a simple question "how far is it to Westminster Bridge?" and the fool had no idea. Also the room I was in had 24 beds like a slave ship. The fool at the front desk couldn't even write the door code down properly so I was unable to enter the room. The breakfast was pathetic.
