The price was very competitive for the area. Freindly enougth, and the premises was quiet. Free internet was also a plus. UNcomfortable bed. The room was fairly small, not enougth to put myself off but for a couple I tihnk it would be too small.
Hotel very clean, good position Room very small.
I did sightseeing. The hotel is located in an excellent place.
We stayed only one day, it is very close to the center and it was relatively cheap. We could here people from upstairs.
convenience of area lack of parking for guests also expected a double bed and a single
The location in terms of near to everything Noise due to a) Location and b) paper thin walls
This hotel is more clean that a pharmacy. The staff is very polite and helpfull.Breakfast-fabulous.I had all the time a good connection for my laptop. The location is excellent; it is a safe place for a woman and I hope to stay again .
Clean and nice bathroom Bathroom had no floorheat so it was too cold. Breakfast was too simple, no bacon and eggs. We were unlucky to have visitors from Poland above that made alot of noice during nighttime, and the hotel staff spent too long time to deal with it.
a nice pleasent nature of staff, followed by lovely clean room . recommended.
clean rooms and the location There was no lift and no brown bread for breakfast
the room was very clean and spacious. The let us store our bags all day after we checked out.
great rooms and location...warning !!... the stairs to the rooms are very steep narrow and challenging..no way that older or less mobile people could stay here ...in other countries I doubt it would be legal to have stiars so difficult in a public building... the stairs
Convenient. Small breakfast area.
Well situated for central London Rooms too small. Having to pay for wifi connection
Lovely furnished rooms Breakfast room very small for number of rooms
Stayed in a family suite and rooms were a good size for the area - close to Buckingham Palace and Victoria Station - within walking distance to Harrod's Shopping. Goog value for money in great upscale nieghborhood. Nothing - would stay there again and plan to return again!
the bedroom is very modern, small but comfortable and clean the sitting area for breakfast is in the reception area and I found it very small
It's a great location and the staff were friendly. Our room had a torn unclean carpet. The room was small for three people. We had a bloodstain on our undersheet and a badly stained matress we discovered the next day. The room had an off smell. We had booked for 3 days but left straight after the first night. We will never stay here again and I suggest you don't there are plenty of nice hotels in the area. If you want to see photos see my trip advisor post.
The location and friendly staff Poor TV reception and very small shower room
Big screen TV Bedsprings were sticking out of the bed in room 207. Moved to room 209 for second night but the bed linen was dirty/had not been changed from the previous occupants (there were actually pubic hairs in th sheets). We ended up sleeping on top of the bed both nights. Carpet was badly stained. All the Reception staff are foreigners and are barely able to english - the atmosphere was not welcoming/friendly.
room cleaning and new towels every day, located close to Victoria station and many shops the stairs: over 40 tight narrow steps for upper floor rooms, the ceiling: you could reach it with your head if you are about 2m high, breakfast: poor and tiny breakfast room, tiny bathroom cabin, defenatly not worthing the price
the room was clean and the towels were changed everyday which is of course important. the stuff at the kitchen were not so kind and once we were told to go earlier for breakfast the next day (in not such a kind tone). All this because we sat 5 more minutes from scheduled time.
Staff Friendliness Room far too small and claustaphobic. Bathroom unhygenic due to cracked basin also the 'pop up waste' broken, and water emptying very slowly. Bath shower head rusted and unhygenic.
It was just a short walk from Pimlico and Victoria- ideal for sightseeing. Our room ( for 2) had a double and single, with a nice shower and plenty of hot water. Fairly quiet, though the traffic started early. Clean and comfortable beds.Small lift was useful to get the suitcase up 2 flights. Breakfast room was a bit cramped, and there wasn't much choice. No free wifi.
Nice and friendly staff. The room was small, but it was clean. The bathroom was new and everything worked perfectly. The hotel is worn. For example; the elevator is small and dingy it doesn't work all the time.
Beds are o.k. Staff is friendly and helpful. Pillows are slabs. Pricey for what you get, but everything in London is pricey. Continental breakfast is on the low end of fair.
Beautifully decorated, fantastic location and the breakfast was good. A handy hotel to know about for future visits to London! Very noisy as the rooms are so close together - we could've just been unlucky with our neighbours though!
friendly, helpful staff; good location; reasonable price very poor breakfast, tiny/uncomfortable dining room; no double glazing/noise insulation, therefore room was quite loud
The bathroom was nice. Reception was cluttered. The hallways were grubby and looked like they needed a good clean. The stairs leading down to the breakfast room were stripped bare, and the whole place smelt of bleach. If it was being decorated, some sort of warning would have been appreciated.
room and above all toilette too small
Too small rooms and also too small breakfast room for so many people to have breakfast in a rather short time. It was totally chaotic
We were in the apartment part of the Mayflower. We had booked an efficiency room and they gave us a free upgrade to a one-bedroom, which was great! It was located very near tube station in a nice area.
The staff was excellent -- very accomodating. The room decor was pleasing and the location was great (close to a tube station, and lots of restaurants and pubs in the immediate area). Noise from the underground trains kept us awake when we stayed in a room at the back of the hotel, but staff were happy to switch us to a room at the front of the hotel, which was much quieter.
Very pleasant hotel and staff
The room was very small, but entirely functional. As I was on my own, it exactly met with my requirements. Quite a lot of night time traffic.
decent staffs and breakfast, very mordern probably refurnbished recently... a good location near the station as well... room and bathroom are quite small, quite noisy because it was near the station and close to roads
We liked the refurnished rooms, very clean and beutiful. The continental breakfast was very good and the service at the breakfast room very good! The location near Earls Court Underground is very convenient. I tryed to get in contact through e-mail in beforehand to see if I could have a large room but I didnt get any answer from the hotel. If you are easily disturbed by noice you should ask for a room on the frontside to the street, because on the backside you hear the trains coming and going. For us it was no problem, but it could be for other persons.
second time that i overnight there, this time i got an apartment that it is quite nice even if it is in the basement. not so much to say. fair hotel, they have to do something for the breakfast room there is not space to pass true tables
Very good location in London.Efficient reception staff . When I arrived I got the 4 W appartment - a nightmare.Smelly, messy, cold, no telephone, bad TV, dirty cups on the cupboard..etc ..Then, after complaints they changed me to a nicer one - and I was happy - nice reception staff. So whatever you do , stay away from 4W ! (Breakfast- very basic and lack of space)
The room was beautifully presented but the double bed was two beds pushed together which resulted in a deep groove between the two beds. So it wasn't as comfortable as you'd expect
Staff lovely. Hotel bedrooms way too hot and back bedrooms very noisy. Windows would benefit from double glazing keeping outdoor noise down and perhaps enabling heating to be turned down
the location was suitable for my needs, the hotel staff very kind my room was too small
the hotel was close to Victria st and Pimlico st. reasonable price. heater was broken in the room so it was cold at night time. there was no stair in the hotel so it was quite hard to bring heavy baggage to the room.
Good location, simple but usable rooms. Walls are extremely thin, you can hear everything from the stairs and neighbours. The bathroom is very very small and the sanitery system is not functioning well. Beds are old and not comfortable.
lack of internet access, no wireless network in the rooms
Very good place. Very nice staff. Great value for money. The pillows were unusually uncomfortable.
location the rooms were dirty and small, staff, breakfast,
convenient for Victoria Station room rather small
The breakfast and the location were OK The bed and the bathroom... the first one wasn't a really bed, only a thin matress above two sofas bases... not so confortable! about the second one, it was properly a container... not very different from chemical toilets!
The hotel is in a great location Room was very small and bathroom was tiny
room 5. very big!!! kind staff. breakfast poor. noise. little toilet.
The staff were very friendly & helpful it was very dated, bathroom was tiny, interior of room was very poor, window did not lock.
Free Wireless internet access inside rooms. I expected a better breakfast with cheese.
The room was quite acceptable and the location wonderful. The breakfast was minimal but acceptable. We booked two rooms and found that one was in a totally different building around the corner. The manager gave our room to another couple the first night after we had moved into it.
The hotel was very good value for money. A good bed, enough space, clean bathroom, nothing more is needed for a business trip in a capital city. There were no toiletries in the bathroom. This may have been an oversight, or they may have been available at reception, although I didn't ask. As a regular traveller I had my own.
The hotel had a good situation close to all the tourist sights The heat could not be turned off in our room, wich meant that it was very and uncomfortably hot
Clean rooms, friendly staff, OK breakfast, Good location, near to Victoria St and the Thames , Big Ben Etc.. Far far far to small rooms , the windows was situated to a brick wall, no facilities as a sitting area at the hotel, or a chair in the room
very central location for central london rooms could do with being a bit bigger
Close to Victoria Noise of leak/overflow outside room window.
The location Reception staff not very welcoming, booked 3 rooms. Only given two rooms, when told it should be 3 they gave us another room which was not ready and was on the top floor and was so small it was like a broom cupboard compared the other rooms. Glad it was only for 1 night
quite close to tubes and buses which was good. to many stairs for someone with walking difficult's.
small rooms, no lift
5 min from Victoria station (train, tube, bus). 20 min from trafalgar square. Tea and coffe in room (free), shower, new towel every day
very convinient location we were supposed to check in at 11, this is why we chose this hotel, but the room wasn't ready. Extremely small rooms, we are used to staying in b&b but this room was so small that you couldn't even make a step without falling into something. Also the stuff should really have to learn how to be more polite.
Management were very helpful Bedroom was not clean Breakfast staff were not friendly and service was very poor.
windows overlooking the park; though in the vicinity of the station, it is relatively quiet I expected a bit of ham or sausage or cheese for breakfast
The location was great and it was in a safe neighborhood. It was a little hard to find. Also, the walls were pretty thin - I could hear the other guests.
Good location to Victoria Station, staff is friendly and helpful No lift, no air conditioning, beds are hard, hotel used to serve a full English breakfast but now it's only continental
Price, let's be honest, I did not expect much for £65 in central London. Some staff were excellent. Despite the bed I did sleep well. Probably because I was very tired. The room was tiny and had not been decorated in decades. Bed was simply terrible. Ill fitting sheet, very soft thin matress on a rock hard divan. The window was shut, but there was a draft on my head while I tried to sleep!
No!! I don't wanna go any more!!! Rubbish!!!! Small rooms and no lift! My room is on 4th flool!!! My god!!!! Dirty and small sheets!!!!
Leaving in the morning. The hotel is no more than a hostel. The person at reception was very rude. His attitude was give me the money no get lost. He should not be stationed there. If I had not been as tired I would of left. Getting prepayment might be good for staff but this Ryanair type approach does nothing for quality.
The location Unprofessional staff
location and friendly staff paper thin walls
On the coldest night of the year so far, we were very relieved the heating was on full & our room was very warm! The room was basic & in need of minor repairs but the beds were very clean & comfortable - as we were only needing a place to sleep for one night it was good value & staff were helpful. Bathroom was very small in a room for 4-6 people, room in need of minor repairs but to be fair we didn't pay for the Ritz so overall good value
Central location and friendly staff was very helpful
Not much I'm afraid. The only thing was that is was a minute's walk to where our meetings took place. The bed cover, curtains, carpets and the rooms in general were very dirty. The curtains - originally white in color - had turned to grey. I spent the first hour cleaning the room with disinfectants and wipes. Heating wasn't on till 8 pm. And I was charged for my whole stay on the very first day. Breakfast consisted on toast, butter and coffee only.
Closeness to Victoria station and city center. The noise from the streets was very loud. The room was extremely small.
The hotel was perfectly adequate, very well located, run by nice helpful people, and for London the price was nice. We enjoyed our stay there and we will recommend the place to anyone looking for an affordable hotel in London. Frommers was spot-on.
Location Limited facilities
Good location, very reasonable price Carpet very dusty near the edges and net curtains in need of a wash. Didn't clean bathroom sink each day. A shame as room looked as if it had been recently decorated and a little attention to detail would have made a big difference
short distance from Victoria Station, friendly helpfull receptionists much noise from streets
Helpful reception and b'fast staff and clean basic standard accomodation. Excellent location in a safe and high-standard residential area. Would use this hotel again in the future
We liked being in London but liked nothing about the hotel. The hotel said it had a lift so that was one reason we picked it. The lift did not go to the actual floor but stopped at landings between floors so there were lots of stairs to deal with which was very difficult for my travelling companion.
The location was good. Within walking distance to Buckinham Palace and other nearby sights. Whilst being relatively close to the centre, I found street noise wasn't too bad. The reception staff were rude, especially on checking in. The room was extremely small. It was by far the smallest hotel room I've stayed in, much smaller than hotels I stayed at in Rome, Venice and Paris on the same trip. Whilst the hotel does advertise this and I was expecting it to be small, the room was so small I could not open my suitcase anywhere, except for when it was sitting on the single bed. This is too small. The bathroom was not clean. There was mould at the bottom of the shower curtain.
excellent very personal customer service in an incomparable atmosphere with super location and special concept
the quirky interiors are delightful and the staff very cool and accommodating.
cool design, great breakfast, friendly service very small room, road noise, no mirror. No hanging space beyond the one coathanger. no hair conditioner.
Excellent bedding and bathroom in a hotel that's a bit different from all the chains. Leo the manager was professional and thoughtful. Breakfast was wonderful. The location is a bit noisy at night.
The fantastic customer care by Antonio (manager) and his staff and the fabulous designer atmosphere and art in the hotel.I was on a week's vacation with friends who were staying nearby and wanted to stay somewhere a bit "different" and quirky. Rough Luxe definitely fitted the bill! The bed was extremely comfortable with lovely bedlinen and there was a ready supply of handmade bath products which smelled delicious. The breakfasts are excellent and the soda bread and other produce are freshly delivered every morning. Antonio and Leo are a mine of information and delighted to advise guests on whatever they need to know, providing maps/ names of restaurants, galleries, exhibitions, routes etc. Nothing is too much trouble. I was loathe to leave! Absolutely nothing - it was exactly as described on the website. It is worth noting the building is Grade B listed and the space for hanging clothes is limited. Carry a few extra coathangers!
The hole package. Beginning with the (warm welcoming and lovely) manager over the (beautiful designed and clean) rooms and ending up with the (homemade, healthy and with love prepaired) breakfast. Our best stay ever - in a city hotel. Absolutely nothing
Proximity to event E.G. at koko arena in camden Dirty room , too small, thin walls could hear everything going on in other rooms, dirty bed linen, dated decor, unfriendly staff, the list is endless!
location, price, comfort, welcome and breakfast.
it was near st pancras station for us to go early in the morning bathroom in corridor could hardly walk round the bed
Location is very good. It's quite. It's too small. There is no private bath room.
It is worth the price.
Really kind employes/owner. English breakfast included. Room a little bit small but very clean, bed done every day, towels provided...
Easy access to Kings Cross and Central London Very small rooms
The breakfast was excellent and the hotel was clean Our room was located in the attic and anytime someone opened the tap or used water it makes loud noises in the room, Very disturbing especially during the night or early morning. We could not take a sleep the whole night.
The staff was very friendly and helpful. Reservation found promptly.
Very close to underground links and mainline stations.
