Top tips for hiring a car at Copenhagen Airport, Kastrup

  • Car hire at Kastrup Copenhagen Airport (CPH) offers you several important advantages. Possibly the most important of these is the convenience and flexibility to travel wherever you want whenever you want around the city, the country and beyond. Another key advantage is that you have your own personal transport without the bother of additional passengers, to enjoy a more comfortable ride as you explore Copenhagen. There’s also the pleasure of personalised service, courtesy of the friendly staff.
  • Copenhagen Kastrup Airport has a dedicated car hire centre at the airport’s arrivals hall, which is generally open from 07:00-23:00 local time; though, operating hours may vary according to provider and day of the week. Some of them, including SIXT, Europcar and Thrifty, have off-site pick-up locations, but they do provide convenient shuttle transport services to ferry you the short distance to collect your vehicle. We always recommend making reservations in advance, to increase the chances of getting the vehicle of your choice upon arrival at the airport.
  • Where you return your Kastrup Copenhagen Airport car hire depends on which provider you choose and whether your return is during or after operating hours. For example, SIXT offers a 24-hour drop-off service. You can return the vehicle to the P1 parking area at Terminal 1, where you will be met by a company employee during regular office hours, or for after-hours returns, simply park the vehicle in one of the dedicated SIXT spaces, drop the keys in the box provided and you’re set to get your flight home.
  • Some passengers might experience some difficulty picking up or dropping off a car hire at Kastrup Copenhagen Airport. Problems with vehicle pick-ups are generally caused by delayed incoming flights, but most agencies make provisions for this, so there’s little if any inconvenience caused. Available shuttle transport to off-site locations and traffic tie-ups during morning/evening rush hour traffic can also result in pick-up delays. Some car hire agencies like Avis have unusual opening hours during the holiday season, from Christmas Eve to New Year’s Day, which could result in longer lines at the car hire centre.
  • 25% of our users found a car hire at Copenhagen Airport, Kastrup for AED 79 or less
  • Book your car hire at Copenhagen Airport, Kastrup at least 1 week before your trip in order to get a below-average price

FAQs about renting a car at Copenhagen Airport, Kastrup

  • Where are the hire car companies situated at Copenhagen Kastrup Airport?

There are two locations from which you can get a car hire at Kastrup Copenhagen Airport. Terminal 1 has a dedicated centre on the western end of the building, between its two parking areas; this can be accessed by an inter-terminal shuttle if you’re arriving at Terminals 2 or 3. There’s also a centre at Terminal 2, between the Information Point near Gates C2-C8 and the P3 parking area. This centre is also accessible via airport shuttle.

  • Which hire care companies are more straightforward at Copenhagen Kastrup Airport?

You can make better headway with providers that have offices at Copenhagen Kastrup Airport, like Avis, instead of car hire companies, such as SIXT, which use offsite locations. In either case, booking your reservation in advance significantly reduces waiting time. Many of the major providers partner with others (for example Avis/Budget/Payless), so having an account with one offers advantages across the board. Frequent flyers may also wish to consider setting up an account with a specific provider/group to take advantage of deals and special vehicle rates.

  • What documentation is required to hire a car at Copenhagen Kastrup Airport?

You should be at least 21 years old and have held your domestic driver’s licence for at least one year to hire a car at Copenhagen Kastrup Airport. In addition, you’ll need to show your valid passport and entry visa if required to do so. European citizens should have an unexpired domestic driver’s licence, but we strongly recommend non-European visitors travel with an International Driver’s Permit, which is often requested by most major car hire agencies. Credit or bank debit cards are the most accepted forms of payment.

  • How much does it cost to rent a car at Copenhagen Airport, Kastrup?

On average a rental car at Copenhagen Airport, Kastrup costs AED 231 per day.

  • Which car rental companies will pick you up at Copenhagen Airport, Kastrup?

The only car rental company that offers shuttle or pick-up services from Copenhagen Airport, Kastrup to off-airport locations is Sixt.

This is hard to blame Sixt for but the entrance for drop off was across the street from where we picked up the car and was not well sign-posted for the direction we entered the area. We got stuck in the employee entrance and had to escape before getting across the street to the right entrance. The Sixt employees, when we finally found them, were great. Very helpful. The email support I received was also very quick and helpful.

Very unhappy with Hassan at the pick up. I am used to car rental agents trying to sell you all kind of upgrades etc, but 1st he tried to scare us about the tires, saying they were summer tires when the sign clearly said “all weather tire”. When it came to paying he quoted me the amount in US dollars and told me to pick my currency at the pay pad- of course one picks the currency familiar with and the one that got quoted. At the moment I had picked US the rate jumped up quite considerably. When I asked him about that, he said I should have picked danish crowns. He hadn’t mentioned anything about a fee for choosing US dollars. We have traveled a lot in Europe and I have never experienced being charged an additional fee , and a quite hefty one. When I asked him to cancel and let me redo, he insisted he couldn’t do that. He said if he would do it we would have to wait until the next day to rent the car. If Sixt charges such a high fee the representative should make customers aware of it prior to choosing. Makes you feel taken advantage off. Also, our car did not have an ice scraper so we had to buy our own. Small thing, but I was already quite upset about the whole fee thing, I still am almost 3 weeks later

KAYAK
Flex To Go completely exceeded my expectations! The car was brand new, spotlessly clean and gleaming like it had just come out of the showroom. I was especially impressed by the friendly guy in the handover zone — he polished the cars with so much passion that it felt like a scene from a retro New York movie. You rarely see that kind of dedication these days! The whole process was extremely pleasant: fully digital check-in and return with zero waiting time and no queues. From the arrivals area at Copenhagen Airport it was the shortest walk to a rental car I’ve ever experienced. The price was really fair and attractive, and there were even delicious sweets waiting inside the car as a nice surprise. On top of that, we got a free upgrade with better equipment and a great sound system — simply top-notch! Everything ran smoothly and professionally. I really can’t imagine what could have been better. The only wish left is that this kind of service would also be available for long-term rentals or mini-leasing. Absolutely recommendable!

We did not pick up the car. There was a problem with the license because it was in greek and not international. Fair enough but we have sent the license (full copy) to Hertz two weeks before the rental and they reported no problem. At the rental deskWe requested then for the second driver who holds an international license to be the main driver. The reply was no because the car was rent through booking.com and not directly through Hertz. They offered the alternative to rent the car directly through Hertz at a cost of 920 euro (triple the cost of the boking.com / kayak rental). We refused. We had a penalty from booking.com for not hiring the car. In simple words Our holiday was totally ruined. Never again
