We were charged a different price than quoted (though the estimate hasn't been confirmed yet). We also were told we were required to pay for EzPass through the rental car and that there were high fees charged for it, but this seems incorrect, as Toll By Mail seems available on all roads via an easy online form.

Other than the rental price gouging during the holiday week, my experience with Hertz was great. The check-in process was pretty fast and my car was waiting outside the office. I chose the Manager's Choice option and was given a full-size sedan which drove great.

it is impossible to deal with the car rental companies in Manhattan, but Hertz on 76th st is the worst of the worst. terrible employees. lack of information. call the number on line and you get a person in the Philippines or Honduras. a totally negative experience. my second time in a year. but never again.

Pros:

Nothing. The staff was rude, unhelpful, terrible overall. I literally did not even get my car after waiting for four hours.

Cons:

Every aspect could have been better. They made me wait for four hours after my scheduled pick up time, at that point I didn’t even need a car anymore. When I asked to cancel, the attendant rolled her eyes at me, looked at her coworker and mocked me, and then failed to promise I would get my money back. They wanted me to continue to wait “another hour and a half” but also didn’t promise I’d ever get the car. So I left, and had to wait on hold with the corporate office, explain, and ask for my money back. This office on 76th st in Manhattan should absolutely not be in business and is a total scam.

Waiting for over 4 hours for my car. The rental location was a disaster. People were waiting there for hours and there were no cars. I am filing a formal complaint with Hertz. It was the worst rental experience of my life.

When we came to pickup, there were no cars available, even though we had made a reservation. The crew found this perfectly normal and said we had to wait an hour. After an hour we got a great car that was more luxurious than we picked, for the same price.
