The experience was terrible as we reserved the car many weeks before and when we wanted to pick it up, they didn’t accept any of our credit cards at the counter, even though we offered 3 of them(!). We tried with VISA (comdirect) and Mastercard (N26 & Swedbank). The reasons behind were as ridiculous as the unwillingness of the staff to help us out. Funny fact: just 3 weeks before, we rented a car with Thrifty in France with one of the cards mentioned above and it was working just fine. During the booking, we received no information about the requirements of the credit cards. At the end, we didn’t get the car and had to pay more than twice to get a car from another provider last-minute.

Our flight was late and they informed us that they had given our car away and we had to scramble to rent another car. I recommend Sicily by Car, their staff was excellent. Dollar is terrible.

I showed up to pick my car & my car was given way because i arrived on the 26th of june instead of the 25 th ( my mistake ) however the person i dealt with did not try to get me another car seeing that we were stranded , needed a car desperately , so we went to Europcar who took care of us , she went all out to get us a car reasonably priced ----thats customer service not what i received with Dollar

Pros:

Honestly nothing. It took nearly two hours to get the car. The line was incredibly slow and a total mess. We had reserved an Audi, but they only had a Ford Focus, and tried to claim it was in the same class. Then they tried to up sell us. They were doing the same thing to everyone.

Cons:

The pick up process was a total mess. They are very deceptive in the classes of car that they advertise. It took about two hours to actually get a car. Would never rent from this Avis again. Allow yourself time for the return as that also takes longer than it should.

They barely even help you anymore at this point wirh a live human. My reservation was wrong at the desk according to them, so I of course owed more money. No one walks you out to the car to assist or help ensure you’re all set and know how to use the vehicle. My car was set to German and it took my driving all the way to my hotel an hour away to get someone to help me figure out how to change it. Was not easy. Then u get the final bill emailed in Italian, despite them knowing I’m an American citizen who speaks English. So I have no idea how to read it and why I’m being charged more. Terrible customer service.

We liked the good value for money, and the car itself was just what we wanted and had no issues. It was not completely clean though when we received it, nor did it come full of fuel- under half a tank. The pick up and collection from the car park was fine and very quick. It was the wait time at the drivalia desk to sign the contract and pay the deposit which took too long. We joined the queue at 10:30am and we’re not at the front until 12:00pm. We were not in a rush but other customers were as they had plans or connections to make.

the company did not review the car and if it had damages or scratches on it and i picked up the car in the dark. thus, was not able to see any visible damages on the car. when i returned it, i was charged for damages that i did not do while driving the car. the car was not clean when i picked it up and had a very poor experience overall.

These guys are the worst. Watch out for all kinds of hidden charges and if anyone tells you anything about your rental, make sure you get it in writing. These guys are supreme scam artists. Don’t get suckered like I did.
