Very helpful and friendly hotel staff. Very comfortable bed and good room facilities. Traffic noise disrupted my night's sleep somewhat.
The staff were excellent and bent over backwards to help. Parking facilities
Friendly staff and good facilities Noise, woken up by both guests and noise outside the hotel.
Beautifully restored staircase, on site parking, central location For a "superior" room, the furnishing was a bit utility, and the battlship grey colour scheme in the refurbished corridors was depressing.
Staff very good No sky tv. Jacuzzi in bath didn't work.
excellent location, lovely staff and good facilities.
central to pubs
They provide free internet which is great. And the location is good for travellors. The floor could be a bit of old and the noise from upstairs is annoying.
Ambience Room too small. Too hot. Window did not open. No 350
Busy city centre hotel, excellent location, very helpful staff Room was so hot has to keep window open at night even though it was snowing,
Friendly staff and easy parking
Very helpful doorman who provided free map of Newcastle and information leaflet plus friendly advice Confusing 'levels' rather than floor numbers. Unusual for breakfast not to be included in room price.
Comfortable, quiet and calm.A lot of oldfashioned charm with helpful staff. Good service in restaurant.
Location was just what I wanted Meeting friends and enjoying a very nice meal in Chinatown The Dragon House
It's proximity to the city, you couldn't get closer to the shopping and sights if you tried! The hotel was very basic, it had no atmosphere and looked shabby and in nead of a refit. A distinct lack of luxury swing as it has a 4 star rating!
its location and the high standard of the hotel. I would have liked to check in an hour earlier.
Ease of access directly to city, facilities, bars, staff, the fact that it is an independent hotel & not a chain
We enjoyed the extra luxury of staying in a prime location in the city, we got upgraded to the bridal suite and no extra cost whic was fantastic and everyone was polite and very helpful, we would certainly come again and would be happy to recommend the hotel. we also loved the bathroom, the shower was great. we did not have breakfast as it was rather expensive and all the reviews said it wasnt worth it,
The design of the room the full length window overlooking the river. The ease of getting to The Sage and the shopping centre. Staff were extremely attentive. We would definitely stay again. Nothing there isn't anything I can find fault with
The location. Room looked shabby and very dated with thread bear seats, an uncomfortable bed, grubby bathroom with a tap that leaked water all over the sink area.We were woken repeatedly through the night by people shouting and banging on doors. This is not what you expect from such an expensive hotel, extremely poor value for money!
very comfortable bed communal areas very smart and pleasant bathroom past its best and shower facilities poor- not what I would expect from hotel of this level view from room very poor
Location for city centre the whole building was cold, the air con was noisey, the bathroom was shabby and cold. the breakfast was poor and the unhrlpful
The location of the hotel was excellent and the room was adequate and the reception staff were helpful. This was our third stay at the hotel and it appears to be letting its standards slip, there were not enough bar and waiting staff and the tables were all full of uncollected plates etc,we had to wait an age to get served if the barmaid was off her mobile long enough, the breakfast was similar not enough staff, expensive, and generally cold and pour quality/
General ambienece and location
Posistion was fantastic, our rooms had floor to ceiling windows, top floor with a fab view of the river
Close proximity to the city centre and the river views from the room Wireless internet is only in Hotel Lobby and costs £20 per day(this is not rocket science and Hotel are out of order here). Bed was a bit hard and AC was a bit hot (control problem) and overall decor/fittings etc are dated and worn and reflect the time the hotel has been trading in this location. Car parking is an excellent bonus and lots of private space available for guests. Concierge is great and knows his stuff. (In general Hotel needs refurbishing but overall a clean and tidy place to stay).
Decor is chic and position is terrific Breakfast service was hit and miss. No room for an armchair in the bedroom
The interior design of the rooms and the reception area and cellar bar was outstandingly elegant, uncluttered and enjoyable. We welcomed the opportunity to go to the adjoining restaurant for dinner. The water in the shower didn't drain away and Channel 5 was unobtainable - we wanted to watch the Test Match. An iron with an ironing board would be a welcome addition.
The room was very clean and comfortable and newly furnished, staff very helpful. The panini that i ordered through room service was over cooked and hard. Also i paid cash in the morning and yet the hotel held back funds in my bank account which have not been released to date!
handy to town centre
Contemporary modern rooms, good location in Newcastle city centre and close to bars and restaurants. Breakfast delivered to room was very poor. Room was located next to air conditioning shaft which was very noisy.
The friendliness of the staff and the extremely well-appointed room, spotlessly clean. The hotel was ideal for our theatre/shopping stopover.
Staff went out of their way to help me with all the problems I encountered with the hotel. Too many to detail here! See the reviews on TripAdvisor too.
I was impressed with the Grey Street Hotel and will definitely be staying there again.
The location in the city centre oppersite the train station i used 1. we booked a double room and recieved a twin. Told staff and moved rooms. 2. the 2nd room we got wasn't as clean as 1st room. the bins hadn't been emptied and the bath has hair in it (quite a lot). We didnt switch rooms again has we were on a deadline.
The Duty Manager handled my morning complaint very well. She was attentive, curteous and resolved my issue suitably. Getting woken up at 405am by a crowd of people outside my door wasn't great and then the party next door caused me to call the Duy Porter at 440am. He was very helpful and ejected one perosn from the hotel.
Very convenient for the train station and bus for the metro centre. Staff were very friendly and allowed us into our room when we arrived. We also left our luggage until we left for the train. Excellent service from all staff. The only down side was the level of noise during the night. I would request a quiet room the next time I visit.
The location of the hotel
good location, good breakfast
central to town centre
Location is great Reception area and bar look great Staff are friendly Rooms are tired looking and small
the hotel was really superb, staff were so helpful at all times and the food was lovely this is a hotel i have used time after time go for it its centrel and of high standerds can i stop longer
Staff very pleasant and helpful, and knew area quite well. Hotel well insulated against noise outside of it. Room was quite spacious. Toilet bowl really needs a good bleaching (it was pretty brown) and cracked / loose floor tiles need replacing in bathroom. Also had dirty pillowcase which was replaced, so standards of cleanliness need to be improved.
Central position, friendly staff. Had Sky TV available in the bar area, which they switched for us to waatch 1st day of the Ashes in Brisbane. No a/c in the rooms. No Sky TV in the rooms. I thought room rate was expensive for what you got
Comfortable and clean room with a fan to cool us down as it was a very hot day. The staff were very friendly and polite. The room was not ready when we arrived but the staff were great and looked after our luggage for us while we went for lunch.
Breakfast was freshly cooked. Was difficult to find - situated in an area that 'has alot to be desired' Outlook was of a rail bridge and underneath it's arch's - the 'homeless' living. Not recommended for a saturday night stay - unless you like the noise/music until 3am of the pubs and clubs.
Checking out Everything
I like the location, the hotel is really near the centre. The bed wasn´t comfortable
Location of hotel Had to stand and wait 25 minutes for soneone to come and book us in at the reception No heating provdided apart from mini desk heater which did not provide much heat at all mould on the bathroom ceiling and walls and stunk curtains were not big enough to cover the window which made the room cold and draughty. Waited 40 minutes for breakfast in the morning where we sat in a cold room because of the heating not working
clean /comfortable room situation as it was very noisy until about 4am also they ran out of supplies for cooked breakfast
Situation of hotel.easy access to shops, bars.cleanliness
Staff very friendly and helpful Public areas very worn
the black mould all over the bathroom ceiling!!!!
Requirements met for a one night stay.Good value for money-£45.
Location Fire alarm going off. General air of untidiness desperately needs updating. Carpets, curtains etc.
Excellent location in the Quayside area of Newcastle. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Room wasn't prepared and shower head was missing when we checked in. We had to be moved to a another room. A brighter decor would improve the atmosphere.
Location is great for nightlife. Receptionists friendly. Bathroom smelt of damp. Staff refused to serve breakfast at 10.25 despite breakfast being advertised until 10.30. Overpriced.
The peresonnel were really courteous, and helpful and the room was comfortable. Great breakfast... thank yuo againa to wonderful staff Nothing that springs to mind - it was a good experience all round
it was nice and comfortable, breakfast was lovely everything was just fine
Breakfast & free parking. No complaints at all.
Nice place and good location and good price. Good decor and breakfast. Could have been a little cleaner, a bit dusty round the edges.
Reception staff were very friendly. The rooms and corridors were dark and the carpets dingy. The bathroom was clean and nicely tiled but my bed had a dip in the middle.and was uncomfortable. The windows were grimy. The cooked breakfast was ok but the coffee was like dish water. There was a strong smell of disinfectant in some areas. Two of our bedroom lights did not work and we had to ask for a heater because the central heating had been switched off (mid April in Newcastle was still quite cold), the heater did not work so we went to sleep without.
Central location. Very comfortable and attractively furnished room. Helpful staff. For a place which was trying very hard to be 'designer' and cool, there were some odd features - plastic glasses for fruit juice at breakfast, for example.
The friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. I couldn't fault them. Bit noisy from Thursdays to Sundays because of Jimmyz Bar being underneath, but the live music finished at 11pm and there was secondary glazing on the windows which helped. Other than that, no problems really.
Its proxcimity to centre of town Bar downstairs rather noisy in rooms
The evening meal I thought the Hotel was shabby, noisy, my room smelt of smoke although it was non smoking. I thought the room was poor quality for the cost.
people were very friendly
good facilities in room;very central for the city; clean; Disappointed that restaurant was not open on Sat.; unable to find entrance easily when on foot; steep stairs to haul luggage up from this entrance
Going to my sons graduation, only The state of the hotel was dire, cleanleness left alot to be desired, security appauling, the bar closed at 10:45, not good in a hotel. I was charged twice. The reviews were not brilliant, but they should be worse, I would not rate it 2 star let alone 3 star.
Staff were friendly and it was very central, outside noise minimal. Breakfast on Monday was chaos - items running out, lack of staff. Shower was dreadful. General appearance dreary.
