Joined some hotel activities such as bird watching, cooking etc and played tennis. Relaxed at the swimming pool. Checking in/out is too slow. Reception staff are not so efficient. The Managers are very nice though.
Location and facilities were fantastic. Not quite the relaxing time expected. Plenty of families having lots of fun and making vibrant use of all of the activities / facilities.
very very very very nice hotel
A Wonderful hotel with great view and good facilities. The best place in KK No.
location and cleaness the limited restaurent choice
Room service is great, good private jetty, and good spa The swimming pool is under renovation , but it didn't mark on booking.com ,jacuzzi and steam room were out of service during our stay, private beach is too small.
Paradise - had stayed at other Shangri-LA, Rasa Ria, and found Tanjung Aru to be equally wonderful.
Staff is always very friendly. Fantastic place to stay, with very comfortable rooms. The new spa (Chi) is great. Italian restaurant is quite expensive, while we did not think the food was very special. It missed the extra touch.
The food, the service and the staff was all excellent and our rooms were great. We loved the hotel itself but we found the food, water and soft drinks way too expensive. Although there was a some live music in the bar at night, we would have liked some music or entertainment outside, perhaps on the beach or near the pools? We found that guests disappeared after dinner and we either went into town or had to go to our room to watch television.
Comfortable resort and very friendly staff. Tanjung wing rooms were clean and spacious with nice views. Food and drinks were expensive especially when compared to the local prices.
Excellent choice of restaurants ..breakfast buffet was very good Nothing
Views and staff Restaurants are bit over-priced. Venician blinds separating the bedroom and the bathroom are bit too kinky!!
The swimming pool was good ! Furniture is a bit out of date. The group entertaining at the lobby is not really enjoyable while besides that the whole day the same back-ground music is playing, quite boring !
The room is really nice and clean, they also provide shuttle bus to city, really thoughtful. At night, there is a live singing show in the lobby lounge, it was also good. The time of checking in was too long and the staff of front desk was a bit careless. However, it was not a big deal, for the staff, overall, I would say, they are quite good and professional.
Excellent food, friendly and helpful staff, nice grounds room decor a little dated, no flat screen tv, no dvd player
Staff were friendly. Our children were upgraded to an executive room free of charge. Our room was lovely with a view of the pool and the sea.
Loved Pacific Sutera.Good location very good service and Henry on front desk was the best.He was always ready for any questions.Rooms were good but did not like the pillows. If we come back we will stay in same hotel.Thank you to all the staff. Please if you can change the bed too hard.
Good Location reasonably priced friendly staff and good access to town The cost of golf is extremely expensive for Malaysian standards and whilst the course is quite good and well maintained you are paying top dollar for the privalage to play the course
Rooms and the view from balcony is outstanding. It is a huge hotel. There are lots of swimming pools ( but they are only 1,5m deep each). I dont like golf but if you do so there is a huge golf field. There is no beach at this hotel. There are 2 men made `beach like` places but they are 10m wide each. Maximum 10 people can use it in the same time. If you want beach do not stay in this hotel . Go to Nexus or some other hotel with a proper beach.. If you insist to stay here then there are boats to islands hourly. I suggest you to go to islands to swim. Also foods are expensive. Water sports staff on the boats are unkind. ( the ones in the marina was very kind) .
Hotel staff are very friendly Should allowed the window to be opened so that some fresh air can come into the room
Close to city and islands. Good and tasty food. Knowledge of hotel staff poor.
Excellent facilities, good location and value for money
Staff were excellent and very friendly. Free upgrade to superior room with sea view. Rooms are a little dated e.g. small old TV, stains on carpets.
Good location, friendly and helpful staff, great breakfast selection and good facilities. At first we were given a poorly located room but this was changed without to many problems, the hotel food and drink is very expensive.
The sea view and the convenient services hotel provided. I love staying in this hotel and this is not my 1st time staying. I am a bit disappointed because the room seems to be old and the window binding not in good condition. Toilet's room condition not very good.
convenience, next to the harbour, easy access to boats and islands pools were too basic, not deep. more for kids
I can use pacific facilites. It has many outdoor pool. It has too small private beach
We had a great time. Club rooms and club amneties rock. The evening cocktail is something of very good quality.Location and overall property is awesome.. Old style tv even in the Club Rooms - Most of the Hotels have larger lcd screens now...Services at breakfast time in the lounge are extremely slow and the choice very limited...
Free hourly shuttle bus to and fro to KK town. Really convenient!! . Free WiFi service in the hotel lobby and the pool area. Good massage service but was slightly pricey. Spa staffs are very courteous. Nothing!!!
The location was good. Although Shangri La Tanjung Aru would have been just as good on hind sight. Regretted choosing Sutera Harbour. Initially given a supposed sea view room which actually had view of child pool and trees. We had to complain and they changed us. We had to trawl with all our luggage and child. On the last day of our stay we had no hot water and the electrcity blew out (didn't bother to fix this) because of a faulty iron which they provided. There was no iron or ironing board in our room when we arrived.
The service and the room facilities The quality and taste of in-room dining food
The staff tried hard and were very courteous I picked up a gastric virus and spent the whole time in my hotel room. My fiancee stepped on a rusty nail (which was not rectified after the incident) and we had to make a trip to the local doctor for a tetnus etc (not ideal for me as i was really not well). Everything in the room looked nice but was not well built, i.e. everything was slightly loose. We booked a Spa suite to end our honeymoon and was disappointed with the Spa Suite wing. It is located approx 1 mile from the main wing (not 400m as stated on their website!!) and the only way to access the main resort after dark is by shuttle bus. Again not ideal if not feeling great. The dining options at the spa suite block is very poor (Dive Bar One).
First class beach, and good choice of restaurants nothing
We liked special the choices of restaurants and the excellent quality of the food. Also the setting of the whole complex is excellent We could not found anything negative about our stay
Pool Villa - Location, location, location! Staff very friendly and trying to be helpful. Good choice at breakfast, but slow keeping up with demand - often ran out of items (fruit, yoghurt, bread etc). The Pool Villa had kitchenette with hob, fridge/freezer, sink, kettle and lots of cupboard space - lovely! But there were only a few plates, 4 cups/saucers and 4 glasses, 4 tablespoons, 4 teaspoons and 4 forks. That's it. No saucepans or knives - not even a butter knife! When we challenged staff we were told that we are only supposed to do "light cooking eg soups" - without soup bowls and saucepan?! Not good. We also had to "fight" to get a parasol (which was clearly shown in their brochure). Needless to say, we bought essentials ie can opener, corksrew, sharp knife, scissors etc at reasonable cost from supermarket (own transport recommened - 15 min drive from resort, although shuttle service is provided). Also, we think it was overpriced
very relaxing with a nice beach The water tap was broken and the toilet and half of the living area became wet.
Beach, sea, relax free easy and the outdoor activities. Rather far to travel to the water sport centre. Room come with Breakfast for 2 only. Hotel should consider for those family with younger children <12 years will be nice. Not much choices for other food and price is expensive compare to KK city town area.
The food & beach No
Food and facilities were Ok. Great beachside massage. Staff try hard and are friendly but poor training and non-existent management overwhelm any efforts they might make. Poor maintenance. Dreadful service. Like almost everything tourism-related in Sabah (except street food, which is brilliant and cheap), seriously overpriced for the level of service and quality. Food was bland and laughably over-priced when compared to local restaurants. Isolated location means you are stuck here far from the 'real' Sabah experience.
It was the complete package excellent location and range of resturants.
Staff and management extremely helpful, and made the stay a real treat. Whilst the pool area was being renovated, an offer to use a sister hotels facilities was provided without hesitation - really appreciated. Rooms are a bit tired and need a refresh. Limited light in the room, made reading in the evening near impossible.
location in the heart of the city, clean room & functioning facilities request for extra bed not fulfilled (staff forgot), wrong morning newspaper delivered despite reminder previous evening, reception staff was not helpful when I wanted to extend stay - asked to reapply online outside of hotel (time was 10.00 pm, nearest cybernet facility a kilometre away)
It is very near to the shopping mall and eateries places. It is easily access to airport too. The room maybe a bit small as we have 2 adults and 2 children. Once the extra bed is in, the room becomes quite cramp. If the hotel provide spa programs, that will be perfect.
I connected internet cable to the port on the wall, but still could not get internet line...??
The hotel rate was value for money. room were cofortable clean and nice view of the surroundings.I will definitely stay there again The back lane was poorly lit. scary for hotel guest walking on foot from nearby shoppings.
Gaya Centre is a new hotel in operation only five months. It has an excellent location on the seaside with great ocean views on one side of the hotel and city on the other. There is a large new shopping mall cinema complex across the street still only partially occupied. The rest of the city is only a short walk away. Services are basic hotel services. The facilities are new therefore modern and in excellent condition.Free Internet in the room is on cable only but works very well. The oceanside promenade is across the street and provides easy access to markets of various kinds. The terminal for boats going to island parks and beaches is only a few blocks away. In general, everything you need is easily accessible. There is very little negative to say about this hotel. They seemed to be having some problem with the room key cards that seemed to quit functioning each day so you had to get them reset and they didn't seem to be able to reset them for the duration of the stay - a minor annoyance. Front desk staff were very pleasant and worked hard to please but seemed at times to be uneasy with what they were doing, perhaps due to lack of experience with a still new system.
The hotel is situated in a beautiful island in front of Kota Kinabalu. Pros are:location, hotel staff, snorkeling in front of the hotel is very nice, possibility to go also to the other hotel, by a free boat ride, that offers a magnificient beach in the morning-afternoon for free, Marine center where you can go and touch some sea-stuff. Restaurants.:I read some comments about the restaurants being a bit expensive, Think to choose your own fish from reproduction thanks by having the menu in your hand and that is not expensive . Personnel was very efficient: because of a sudden noise to air conditioning in the room we were offered immediately to change room. You wonder if sometime in an Eco marine resor, waters could be a little be cleaner, but when we and currents arrives this happens. Room prices are a little bit on the high side,
Every thing The A/C
amazing. all amazing hmm, not a fan of the jungle walk. too long, plus too many mosquitos and pythons!
Beautiful nature and view. The cottages are clean and nice. Loved that many fishes and birds can be seen, quiet and only sounds of cicada is around. Great for relaxing. Food was over-priced, not many choices for long stay. As the access to mainland is difficult, would be nicer if there are more choices and local dishes available.
The staff were excellent! MERC was a nice experience. We had a superb seafood meal - snorkelling was great - as was the kayaking. Being able to swim and snorkel from our room was a real experience - the kids would swim over to say hi! The drinks in the evening at the Latitude Bar was a really lovely touch. We had some really quality family time there - intimate, personal atmosphere. We would definitely return - and split our time between Bungaraya and Gayana. Our initial impression was a little disappointing - location superb, however we had not been given adjoining rooms as requested (travellling with a 12 and 16 yr old) and the 'breakfast delivered to your room by boat' was not available. Having said that, the management were very quick to respond- change rooms for us asap and provided the breakfast we wanted. The intimate, personal atmosphere was superb - we wanted to stay longer! Only other comment would be that the first morning, breakfast was really lovely - small buffet and a la carte. The next 2 mornings were not as nice - obviously problems with the chefs or something - menu not offered although we were able to order.
Wonderful location, excellent service from happy, friendly staff. Lovely pool that is good for swimming - not just a "leisure" pool. freshly cooked breakfast on the veranda delivered by boat! The arm chairs in the room are really uncomfortable.
the hotel staff is excellent, from housekeeping, cleaner, waiters, cooks to front offiice - everyone is excellent. Warm food is actually served warm - fantastic! Good choice of breakfast! hotel architecture and design are okay, but hotel esp room construction and layout are poor. Room is small, no place to walk around or pray for muslims. Doors and shower door dont close properly, bathroom door inconvenient and if not careful you or your kid could get locked in. Every corners are sharp - sink, shelves etc. Not a hotel for young children.
The hotel had not received our booking so we had to email them out confrmation mail. Our room was dirty. Hotel staff seemed uninterested in service.
stayed for 4 days end of jan and had good overall experience.decent room ,clean very polite and helpful staff.breakfast was good with lots of choice.the location is 7km out of centre which is my only issue,it costs 60 ringitt return and obviously adds up if you go there once or twice a day,for me l would probably recommend only a few days for that reason, although there are shops and cafes all around the more upmarket ones are in the centre.
The location of the hotel is ideal for travel around town area.
it was far from the city and there was not enough restaurants and night livings around hotel
nice clean rooms - would come again location not in the city, but there is a fee shuttle bus or take a taki rm25
Ta new hotel so everything was great, the staff were friendly and helpful, room was very clean and comfortable and the buffet breakfast and dining room were really good although very busy also there was a free shuttle to airport ( though it only goes at certain times) the pool and gym also looked pretty good although we didn't use. Too far from city - outside the hotel you are stuck in a shopping mall, doesn't look like much else was around unless you catch a taxi or bus, but if shopping is your thing you will like this place (shopping in a mall was not our thing). The hotel is really nice but it would be better in the city!
a. attached to the hypermall (1 borneo), b. friendly staff a. swimming pool was too short and water is cold. b. the price is too high after a different room was offered.
The staff were very welcoming and helpful. the breakfast buffets were superb. the situation was fine - at the enormous shopping mall some distance from the centre of kota kinabalu, but there was a free shuttle bus in and out...restaurants a-plenty were to be found in the mall. no
Nice layout and design Extremely small room
It is so comfortable. /
Everything is ok, just the room is a bit too small.
Nice new hotel in the centre of Kota Kinabalu
Comfortable rooms. Good location. The staff are very helpful and offer some good trips that pick up and drop you off at hotel. Wi-fi is not free.
It is near to shopping centre and the restaurant around the hotel is good choice for me as the food is nice. It is really a budget hotel but it is best if the price can be re-adjusted. Kindly of expensive to stay in with the price I pay. Not that bad.
A very comfortable hotel in a very quiet location. Rooms are more spacious than many Asian hotels in this price range. Buffet breakfast has an excellent selection of Asian and Western food. Staff members are friendly and efficient and provide excellent service. The hotel is a few years old and the age is starting to show in many places so it needs a fair bit of cosmetic updating throughout. However all necessities work well. The rooms are not very soundproof so you may be at the mercy of your neighbours. It's location is at the edge of the city centre and is separated from it by some busy thoroughfares so walking access is a bit tricky, especially at night though it seemed to be safe area. The hotel does have a restaurant but if you want another eating choice it is a fairly long obstacle filled walk to another restaurant. Free wifi internet is available only in the lobby and is somewhat erratic. For 10 MYR per 24 hr. you can get in room Wifi which works reasonably well. We eventually moved to the Gaya Centre Hotel for the same price but without most of the negatives mentioned here though breakfast, if wanted, is extra....but in all a far better choice for us.
Nothing bad. Better if more food is available in the breakfast
Despite the age and slightly run down interior, the rooms were large and provided for a relaixng stay. For the cost it was good accommodation. All the shopping areas and attractions were within walking distance, The terminus for the bus from/to the aiport is about 200m away. Breakfast choices were adequate (Had better/had worse). There was no internet access in the room, although it was stated to be, on the website. The TV reception was bad and limited channels. The basin in the bathroom was cracked. Also, the pool was uninviting. Did not want to swim in it. One morning glasses and cups were not washed.
Hotel is good as it was rated as 4 stars hotel. Staff is nice and polite and friendly.Room is nice. Worth for value of money. The hotel is a bit out from the town area . walking distance about 10minutes. Nothing much near the hotel . just a banks.
Reasonable size room. Free parking. Wide breakfast selection. Strong air conditioning. Corridor smell. Room smell when first enter. Air condition unit emit sound after several hours of use. Thin wall - sounds audible from next room.
The bed was comfortable but its just the curtain & floor carpets were very dusty, it mades my kidz sneezing & asthma
The hotel accomodated our family in one room at no extra cost although we were squashed to be honest. We all got breakfast every morning also, which we appreciated as there were no restaurants nearby. The breakfast itself has to be mentioned as it was fantastic every day, in my opinion. It was buffet style and an excellent mixture of local and western cuisine. The staff were wonderful, they all spoke excellent English and were extremely helpful. The reception/lounge area was large and comfortable and I enjoyed the band which played most nights. The bar food in the lounge was very good also and residents get a 25% disount on food which made it very good value for money. The room was cleaned to a very high standard eg our shoes were all lined up and our bathroom toiletries were tidied away every day. I have never had service like this before in Malaysia. Overall I enjoyed the hotel, it was a safe, comfortable environment to be in. The biggest problem was the actual location of the hotel. Although it was close to the shopping district it was separated from it by a major highway which we just could not cross. Every single outing required a taxi and the prices were set, there was no haggling and this meant that we spent much more than expected on taxis, The taxis here cost four times the price of taxis in kl so be warned.I Discovered almost at the end of the holiday that there was actually a free shuttle bus into the town.I Think that should have been made clear verbally when I arrived as I missed the notice.
There is a shuttle service to town twice a day.It would be better if the frequency can be increased.
The morning buffet breakfact was good, with variety served! TV, gym & sauna facilities were good. Staff very helpful, polite! Hotel looks run down, old; sink in room was badly stained & could not be cleaned.Air-con was not slow but thankful for the ceiling fan. Swimming pool water murky.
The standout factor for this hotel was the staff. They were always polite, very helpful, attentive and ready with a smile. Other good points were that the facilities were clean and I got the non-smoking room I wanted. The worst thing was that the WiFi network was very slow or nonexistent at times. The Beverly is in the midst of upgrading to a new network and I got stuck in the middle of it. Staff was very helpful and we determined that the issue was that their ISP or server was conflicting with my DNS settings.Other factors were that some things just did not work such as the room phone was a bit wonky, the safe's battery was depleted, the shuttle bus was down one day for maintenance and the lobby phone was always out of order. Location was also a bit problematic in that it is a fair walk to the downtown core and the crossings can be dangerous. Breakfast buffets were pretty much what I expected from earlier reviews.
