Our Journey to Boutique Excellence.
In 1886, Welsh Immigrant and the Original "Celtic Cowboy" Robert Vaughn, began plans for ".....the most advanced livery in the Pacific Northwest", which brought forth The Arvon Block (get it? Robert Vaughn........ R Vaughn..... Arvon) a Livery, Freight Transfer station, Teamster Boarding House and Vegetable and Fruit market, ALL under one roof!
Finished and opened in June of 1890, just six short months after Montana achieved Statehood, the Arvon Block, housing The Historic Hotel Arvon, The Celtic Cowboy Pub and Restaurant and The Darkhorse Hall and Darkhorse Wine Snug, is the Oldest Comercial Building in Great Falls.
During the Spring of 2012 the Cascade County Preservation Office funded a feasibility study focused on securing the future of the Arvon Block, which had come under disrepair and was destined for the wrecking ball. Enter the ownership group who labored for four years to make The Hotel Arvon and Celtic Cowboy an experience you won't soon forget. Much of the building is original (minus the 3 feet of pigeon poo), with all of the modern updates, including a gallery of original western art, making the Hotel worthy of Robert Vaughns' circa 1890 self penned book "Then and Now... my 36 years in the Rockies".
We ask you to sit back, enjoy one of our 11 historically named suites or 22 luxurious guest rooms, have a pint of Guinness and reminisce of bygone days, who knows, you may even hear the hoofbeats of legendary draft horses "Billy" or "Banks", long gone residents of this working livery.
Pros: Every aspect of the hotel is superior! The facilities are beautiful and well cared for, the staff is friendly and helpful, the location is perfect, the breakfast was delicious, the beds were comfortable, and everything was clean.
Cons: There was not a single aspect to the hotel that was in any way less than exceptional.
Pros: everything was good in my books
Cons: the bath room was a little small but no big deal.
Pros: Swimming pool and exercise room.
Pros: Breakfast was quite good, but swamped. Quite comfortable, noise and other issues were reasonable for the money. Guest laundry was very good.
Cons: Only had one significant issue. Apparently, my elderly mother tried to call me through the front desk. I was in my room. She called several times and was told that I was not answering and got quite worried. I called her on my cell and she related this. I called the manager on duty to complain and was told that she had tried to call me several times, and that she and her assistant had both tried coming up to my room. I told her that was not factual - that I had been working at the desk and would have heard any calls, and was quite able to hear kids and others in the hall. If anyone had knocked on my door, I would have known. If anyone had opened my door to do a welfare check, I would have known. Really unacceptable.
Cons: Really just a roadside motel. Shocked this cost $92.
We were put in a room directly by the elevator and ice vending machines. Not the best.
Pros: Breakfast and pool
Crystal Inn Hotel & Suites Great Falls is just 1.1 mi (1.7 km) from the airport and offers a free shuttle (available 24 hours). After having fun at the indoor pool, you can grab a bite to eat at the coffee shop/café. Rooms feature bonuses like refrigerators and microwaves, along with flat-screen TVs and free WiFi.
Pros: Stayed four nights while visiting family in town. The staff is wonderful, especially a woman named Ruth who works in the kitchen. We enjoyed our hot breakfast by the fire pit in the mornings. A friend had a Birthday at the Front Brewery one night and it was nice to just stroll across the parking lot to the party.
Pros: The room was fairly nice, seemed cleanish. The breakfast was good. The staff was nice.
Cons: We found the remains of a spider squished on the wall. The couch had holes in it. The cupboard was broke. We asked for a quiet room but were placed 10 feet from the train, right next to an exit door and next to a door to the stairwell. We were overcharged, bjt i think that is booking.com's fault. They do that to me a lot. I did not have time to get to tell them about it but have left comments for them about it but they never have gotten back to me. Anyway, it was pretty good but a fair disappointing.
Pros: The suite was beautiful, the view was great, the bed was comfortable.

Pros: Good location, friendly staff, and good value for the price paid.

Pros: Staff were very friendly helpful and professional. Hotel had free shuttle to airport and continental breakfast was very good. Room had micro wave and small fridge Room was clean
Cons: Room was a bit cramped and not laid out very well. Too much furniture

Pros: Nice clean hotel with a delicious breakfast in the morning. We were very satisfied with our stay.
Pros: very clean

Pros: The room was very clean and comfortable, the staff very professional and helpful. If I ever decided to go back to Great Falls would definitely stay there again
Cons: The coffee in our room was never refilled and we don't drink decaf so had to go down to the lobby for coffee when we wanted some.
Pros: Location to airport, transportation to airport provided and eating places within walking distance.

Pros: This is a great place to stay! We were here on a couple day stay for snowmobiling! They had fantastic breakfast options as well as light dinner options! I would highly recommend this to anyone, great value for the money!
Pros: The breakfast was good and work out room was nice.
Cons: When we booked our rooms there wasn't any mention about major construction going on in the hotel. For instance the floor we were on was the pet floor they had carpet removed right when you open the elevator door to our room. You could see visible pee spots where the dogs went to the bathroom! The urine smell was intense and gave my wife migraines and when we asked to change our room all they had available was smoking rooms. They put us on a waiting list to change our room and after three days they still didn't have any rooms available. The amenities in the hotel was supposed to include a microwave in the room but, there wasn't one. In the room there were items being held with tape instead of being repaired correctly. The TV remote wasn't user-friendly! My wife is hearing-impaired and it took over an hour and a half with three different people to come to the room to try and figure out how to get close caption working. One of our days there they were servicing the Jacuzzi so we couldn't enjoy that either.
Pros: liked the location/close to many things I needed to get to.
would stay here again.

Cons: The water slide attendant/life guard was not attentive. He was on his phone most of the time. I wish the rooms had refrigerators and microwaves in them, but that's probably the 'express' part. I would not choose an 'express'hotel again for that reason.
Pros: Friendly staff, good breakfast and great bed and pillows. What more is there?
Pros: Clean, comfortable, hot tub, excellent breakfast
Cons: Not really, we were quite satisfied
Pros: Very clean and tidy. Priced well too for the area. A must Stay if you are in Great Falls. The have a massive indoor water slide that looks amazing.
Cons: Pool was not open.
Cons: The breakfast could have been better (cofffee) wad not great either.
Pros: The staff was very friendly, the location is great, great breakfast.
Cons: I didn't like that one of the main reasons we chose to stay here was not an option. Some advance notice should be given when the entire pool / waterslide area is shut down for major repairs. Very disappointed!
Pros: Staff was great, rooms were clean and very quiet
Pros: The location was amazing. I loved having the shops and the movie theater right there.
Cons: I rented this room 3 weeks or so in advance because I wanted my kids to have a fun overnight trip with their aunt. Unfortunately, the pool was closed, breaking my kids hearts. It would have saved some heartache had they sent us a notice about the pool.
Pros: The extra door for quiet.
Cons: The lack of disclosure about the pool being closed, and the bed was not great. I was heavily used and needed to be replaced.
Pros: Water slide, good breakfast, friendly staff, nice accomodations.
Cons: All was good.

When visiting Great Falls, The Great Falls Inn by Riversage is a great choice to consider. Guests can visit the fitness center for a workout, and free perks include WiFi, self parking, and full breakfast daily between 6 AM and 9 AM.
Cons: Very old, rooms are small, and "nonsmoking" room smelled of stale smoke.
Pros: The style of the hotel and rooms was modern, loved it. The front desk was extremly courteous. Very great price for such a clean and modern room.
Cons: It did not have a pool, breakfast, or fitness room, but I didn't mind because I know the price probably would've been higher if that was the case.
Cons: Did not like the outside staff did not answer phone till 3pm
Pros: Clean & Updated.
Cons: WiFi was a little slow
Pros: Super friendly staff! Adorable room! Extremely clean! Highly recommended.
Pros: Décor wonderful and start very helpful

Pros: Staff was very friendly. Room was just what we needed for a week long stay. Great price, very economical for a weeks stay. Rooms were nice it had just what we needed. Comfortable bed, WIFi and a small refrigerator.
Cons: There wasn't anything we didn't like.
Pros: Room was excellent. Staff awesome. Central location great for us as we were all over the city. Food nearby and very good. Many upgrades done and/or in progress. Suprisingly quiet even on a Fri nite downtown.
Pros: The management of this motel made my life better. I was absolutely worn out when I arrived. I was treated like one of their relatives. Thanks for your kindness.

Freebies like WiFi and self parking are added perks, and guests looking to stay active can check out the nearby hiking/biking trails, mountain biking, and water skiing. Rooms offer up nice touches like fireplaces and rainfall showerheads.
Pros: The place is huge and was pretty quiet. The rooms are clean and generally nice. The restaurant seemed nice, though we didn't eat there. It was nice that there is a mini fridge in the room.
Cons: The bed was hard as a rock and quite uncomfortable. There also wasn't an open outlet by the bed to charge your devices or run a CPAP. Thank goodness I pack an extension cord for said circumstances. The rooms appear to be nice, but it's nothing fancy or high quality. The bathroom is also quite small and not great ventilation. The mirror entirely fogs up during a shower and takes forever to clear.
Pros: Clean rooms and friendly staff
Cons: Everything was good
Pros: Room was nicely furnished and clean. Bed was comfortable. Pool and hot tub.
Cons: Temperamental water temp in the shower. Cold one second almost scalding the next.

Cons: My brotherror in law was injured in the pool
Pros: Most of the things in the room looked new (shower curtain & bed covers) & it was clean. Staff were particularly helpful & kind & very accomodating. The breakfast was nice & plentiful.
Cons: There was no frig in the room. Sometimes one has leftovers from a restaurant meal & you need a place to keep it cool. Probably our fault for not asking for a room with a frig but so many have them now we didn't think of it at the time.
Pros: Convenient location
Pros: Quiet...easy access....pool even though we were not able to use it due to cleaning
Pros: Staff are always so friendly. Have stayed here many times. Rooms are a bit small and I was really frustrated that pool was closed for cleaning so my young children were not able to swim.
Cons: I was pretty frustrated that pool was closed for cleaning. Desk clerk at night assured me it would be open early in morning for us to swim but when we went down it was closed for cleaning and wouldn't be open til well after checkout time.

Pros: The daytime staff was pleasant and eager to help. The room was quiet, no noise could be heard from other tenants.. The view and location on the Missouri River is excellent with a nice walking trail along river and walking access to restaurants
Cons: Our bed was very uncomfortable. It was new and the plastic was still on the mattress, which made for us sweating and sticking to the bed.
We were in the smoking area and the smell was strong
The express breakfast was coffee and a very few snacks with no designated area for relaxation (located in entryway of hotel)
Very poor selection in vending machines
I was disappointed in the overall condition (maintenance) of the hotel for its age. It could be so much better,
Pros: I really liked the location on the river it was very pretty.
Cons: We started in a smoking room which we had to change. But the floor we were on still smelled of smoke in the halls. The carpet in the halls were worn and stained the room carpet was ok. But it was so so on the cleaning. The bed was like sleeping on the floor.

Cons: The hotel ran out of blankets, sheets, and comforters, so we were without any sort of bed cover on our last night.
Pros: Liked location.
Cons: I think the parking could be better, but satisfactory for downtown.
Pros: I liked the price; the staff; the location; the size of the room; the cleaniness. The underground parking was especially handy.
Cons: The breakfast could have been better for my husband. I personally didn't mind a small breakfast but their website should be changed as there is no longer a restaurant to eat at.
Pros: Excellent staff, phenomenal location, easy parking, comfortable room, incredible shower and great breakfast

Pros: The hot tub felt great on my sore achy body was very relaxing till the fire alarm went off
Cons: The shower was way too hot it kept going hot cold scalding then cold
Pros: Decent upgrade of bathtub
Cons: Door that didn't really work, yucky pool, not even mediocre beds, disinterested staff, esp. after we notified them of door issue....meh.
Pros: *The room seemed cleaner than our last stay although the tubs look dirty they are just old
*Gal in the restaurant provided me with a free coffee each morning to my husband and I to take back to our room (we don't like the in-room coffee machines and no real cream).
Cons: * Noise ... we could hear the people in the next room talking to their baby.
* Our room door did not close unless we slammed it shut.
* Some of the staff seemed 'high'.
* It was cold in the main hotel area and our room got overheated when we turned the heat on - no happy medium.
* This was our third time at this hotel - next time we will go elsewhere.

Cons: No bath towels in room. Shower was barely warm. no towels made us run late so I was going to grab a bite of the breakfast and take it with me but sign said not to so I didn't. It was also a very poor selection and when we left there was no one at the reception desk to complain to. I believe they were under staffed.
