Very clean, perfect location, excellent value for money through the activehotels website. No bad points really, bnb was really perfect, breakfast 'ok' good selection though. Owner liked to inform us of our great bargain that we received through the internet - that, I didnt' like! And in his own subtle way let us know on 2 occasions over breakfast not to forget to pay, the day we were leaving. That was the only bad point and a small price to pay for such a lovely place to stay
Great location, welcoming daytime host, rooms clean and comfortable. Evening host unhelpful - I.e didn't offer to help with luggage up to attic room, no option of vegetarian breakfast, television volume unreasonably low.
Good family room, nice sized bedrooms. Great staff, made to feel very welcome. Very small bathroom, an extractor fan would have helped clear the condensation. Cooked breakfast was basic.
Very good value, great breakfast. Private baths, clean, well-appointed. In a quiet area of town, but close enough to city center to be able to walk.
This is a charming little place, but very basic. The breakfast was nice. This place was not set up to handle winter weather. I would definitely recommend staying here in the summer only
Clean, good location with Ocean views ib dinning area.
Host, Peter & staff were delightful folks who went the extra mile. Breakfasts were simple but well done. Location on Galway Bay is wonderful. None
Peter was fantastic. The location was great. Beds were pretty uncomfortable.
The ocean view from the main guest room was excelent. We awoke to watch the sunrise each morning. It was close enough to the city center to walk in, but far enough away to have peace and quiet and enjoy Galway!
The B&B was very comfortable. Excellent price for location as it is only 15 minutes walk from city centre. Breakfast next morning was also very nice. Bathroom a little on the small side but still very clean.
Excellent, very cozy and comfortable, roomy with beatiful view, great breakfast, .
Quality of breakfast selection, reasonable 8:30 to 10:00am Breakfast times
We received a warm welcome from Freddie upon arrival and enjoyed a superb breakfast before we departed to Cork. The rooms were spacious and the beds were very comfortable!! We would love to return and spend more time there.
The owners were magnificent in trying to meet our expectations which were very high as the B&B charged 170+ Euros. Breakfast was excellent, the property was very clean and fresh - bed excellent. The Bay view was not of the main Galway Bay but a side backwater!! However yes you could see a bit of water!! Lack of seating in room - owner did offer additional chair but space not really enough. Price a bit high for not being in a central Galway Bay facing location
You could walk to the promenade It was too expensive compared to what you got at other places. Toilet seat broken and fan stuck with tape to keep it together
this destiantion turned out to be all thta i hoped for and more the inn keeper are wonderful poeple kind helpful enduring . I would recomend this b&b to anyone any time. The breaskfast meals were comforting delicious and convienent. this b&b is the ultimate place to stay in the galway area.
Everything was great. Very personal attention - food was wonderful and owner extremely helpful in arranging tours and whatever we needed.
Friendly, clean, comfortable, affordable. An excellent place. Extra facilities very good including free WiFi and printing facilities which many top hotels do not yet have. None that I can think of!
Excellent staff, very friendly.
Staff was very friendly...breakfast was wonderful! None
Staff was very accommodating and friendly. Great breakfast! Great location and there is a great pub with music right down the road.
spacious and warm room, delicious breakfast, very reasonable price. nothing
Very friendly kitchen staff. Private bathroom. Computer with free Internet for guests. Noisy
Excellent service georgeous rooms and very near city centre perfect
Room was bright, well laid out, good tv and channel selection, tea and coffee making facilities were appreciated in the cold weather! Breakfast was at 8am, which is quite late. Would of liked the option of having it earlier as I had to be at a course by 8am
Exactly what I wanted! Clean, good breakfast, fast wifi, quiet part of town. Perfect! Nothing at all - an excellent two nights at a friendy place
Its was just what was needed! And the breakfast was amazing! By far superior to many expensive hotels! None
Given my failure to appreciate the type of hotel the Amber Hill is, I actually enjoyed my stay there. The room was comfortable, well furnished, large enough and immaculately clean. The food at breakfast time was plentiful and well cooked and presented. The staff were pleasant and helpful. I was surprised & pleased at the availability of wireless broadband & even internet access for leisure use It might have been made clearer that the hotel was a fair distance from the city centre- though a taxi was readily available and not too expensive (about 8 Euros). Given how well they do breakfast, and the distance from town, perhaps meals in the evening (not actually a complaint, more a suggestion).
I felt like home, all atmosphere was so cosy, the staff man was very friendly. I liked every single thing there.
Patrick was so very helpful in everything we asked of him, and he took the time to go that extra mile to make our stay comfortable and wonderful! There was nothing not to like. It was wonderful!
the staff were brillient and very accomadating of any needs, they were very friendly and worm and the hotel was comfortable and in an excellent location.
This was without doubt the best B & B i have stayed in, and i would recommend it to anyone. The staff and information about the area provided by them was outstanding
Friendly service, efficient in rearranging rooms, clear directions on the phone and later on in the house. Free good-quality map available. Good price for very good quality. We had difficulties finding the street, as there seem to be not so many signs with street names in Ireland in general. This was easily solved after a phone call.
better than a 4*hotel, amberhill is a very comfortable guesthouse, our room was modern and very clean and had all the things you would need: fridge/safe/tea,coffee tray/tv/dvd/bath/shower/. the staff were very helpfull and friendly. breakfast was very good and included in the price. i will return here again in the future nothing it was all very good
The nice comfortable bedroom and large bathroom were great. I think it was a little over priced at 198euro for two nights
The room was lovely, breakfast was great, the staff were lovely and helpful. After staying in a number of bed and breakfasts this one was exceptional. Cant fault it.
Was only a ten minute drive from the city center. The staff was nice enough. The bed wasn't comfortable, with hardish springs. The sheets were dirty on the sides and there was a big stain on the silky coverlet on the bed. We also saw hair in the bathtub drain upon arrival, which didn't help the cleanliness factor. There were loads of young people on our floor who were loud, partying and smoking. (The smoke alarm also went off in the middle of the night due to the smoke levels.) The walls are paper thin, so if you get rowdy neighbors forget getting a good nights sleep. Management didn't seem to bother stopping them only explaining "Anyone can book a room here." Maybe we dropped in on the wrong night, but it was terrible. I felt like I had small children at a frat house. Oh, and the breakfast isn't included at this Bed and Breakfast, so plan on paying 8 euros for your greasy eggs.
The rooms were clean and the stuff were really nice
very close to all amenities. fantastic location, free wifi, rooms great, we got a balcony!
A warm welcome and easy atmosphere
Location - proximity to sea and to Galway Hospital. It wasn't made clear when booking that cash payment was required on departure.
not too bad location (especially if you have a car) the room was small, no atlantic view, no balcony
We visited Galway city and met up with some friends. Had dinner at a good hotel. The room had everything you needed but was a bit small.
Friendly and helpful staff, great views over Galway bay. Though it was close to a main road it was quiet. Highly recommended.
Location is good. The room we were given was nowhere near the standard of the room shown in the photograph and I think it was fairly outdated especially the bathroom when you consider the competition in this market at the moment. Breakfast was alright but would expect better quality food in the full Irish breakfast. I feel this B&B is expensive when compared to budget hotels in the city that are similar price and much better standard.
The staff was more then welcoming, I didn't even feel like I was away from home. The location was more than ideal, I was able to take a beautiful walk around the coast or head right into downtown. The room was simple but comfortable. They were able to make great recommendations as far as what was the best things to see. They had wifi which was very reliable and important for my stay as that was my means of communication. Thank you for a great stay :) I had a stain on my sheet during my stay which is why I brought cleanliness down to 4 star. It was very mild and didn't effect my stay. The only other recommendation would be to possibly have a little more variety for breakfast, there wasn't anything there that absolutely grabbed my attention. That being said they were more then accommodating to those who had requests.
Ideally situated - short walk to city - lovely views and great for walking along the promenade
Quite room The room was quite small.
Good position across from the bay. Nice area. Too many stairs. Old, tired furnishings.
Good position close to the beach and 15 minutes walk from Galway centre. Wholesome breakfast, comfortable resident's lounge with computer, wifi downstairs. Small double rooms even with single occupancy.
The rooms were very small and the ensuite was like a match box.
The beds were comfortable and the room was clean. It wasn't made clear that the booking we made didn't include breakfast which we thought was strange as Amber Lodge is a Bed and breakfast!
Friendliness of the staff & management. Cleanliness of the room & general comfort level for this type of accommodation.
Super clean. Close to town. Eric is super friendly and knows the area very well. Wifi on the top floor is weak but they are upgrading so it should be good soon.
Everything in Amber Lodge B&B, I like it.
Staff were very friendly Room and ensuite were very small and in need of some decorating, bed was small for a double.
nice room, close to town, very helpfull staff
Good location. Large room Shower was not good at all.
Staff was very pleasant, rooms very clean, close to downtown and buses. Beds and linens crisp and clean. We are a mature couple and felt very comfortable and secure.
It was within walking distance to the Galway city bus station. The room was way too small. There was no room to turn around. The toilet didn't flush properly and when we told the staff they said to just keep on pumping the handle. Breakfast was an additional price which wasn't realised until we arrived at the the B&B.
The shower pressure wasn't very good.
