- Although Manchester offers a fairly good public transportation system, you can avoid the crowds by renting a car. I picked up my car an hour late with no problems after my flight was delayed! The service was friendly & i was in my rental in about 20min. Great service! I had a Volkswagen Polo, duh a great car with great gas milage around town & long distances. I would recommend Budget!Cons:

Pros:
Although there was a slight mix up about the pick up location for the car. The manager was able to get me the car at anothe location and they transported me for free to this location to pick up the car. The car itself was a fairly new car and I did not have any problems whatsoever driving the car. I will use this rental service again.Cons:

Staff were EXCEPTIONAL - extremely helpful, gave us all kinds of useful information, really great attitudes and I got lost in trying to find the drop off and was going to miss my flight so one of the staff gave me a ride to the terminal and I was able to catch my flight. GPS does not pick up car rental village... have BIG SIGN out on the roadway showing car rental return like they do in the USA it's so easy here. The GPS took me to an Uber waiting parking area and not one of the signs on the roundabout said CAR RENTAL VILLAGE.8.0 Very Good

Cons:
I was extremely frustrated to find I *had* to purchase additional theft insurance, even though I have full coverage through my credit card. This added significantly to the daily cost of the rental in ways I had not planned on. It would be one thing if this had been communicated transparently at the point of booking, but to find this out at the point of pick up was extremely frustrating. I will be more discerning in future, and will not be choosing Europcar.2.0 Poor

Company required purchase of insurance which would more than double rental price. Declined to rent and rented instead from National at adjacent counter with no problems and lower price. It’s relatively cheap if you take extra care they don’t squeez in extra optional insurance charges.Cons:
They tried for almost 2 hrs to sell us damage waiver which we already had. They were claiming ours would not work because liability and damage should be bundled!! Finally we got them to agree to unbundle the two via American Express representative in the phone from US!!!! The car itself was decent, full size + luxury as described (although Volvo not Mercedes). No sign of any Mercs on the lot either, so not sure if they actually have any.Cons:
The worst service EVER upon pick up from Easirent. No routine shuttle bus from airport, apparently you have to phone for a pick up but no contact number was given. Jumped in a cab to rental center but it has moved & Kayak has incorrect address. Eventually arranged pick up, took 1 hr 30 mins for the shuttle bus to arrive after I managed to speak to them + everyone was totally unapologetic and basically complaining about how hard they were working. There were 2 customers ahead of me in the queue when I finally arrived at rental center but it took an hour to process them + me. The woman in front of me was in tears because of the standard "you need to take our premium insurance" line which left her an additional $600 out of pocket. Of course, I got gouged as well an additional $100... "we cannot let you take this car without additional insurance, you're not legal on the road without it" despite the fact my US credit card covers this and I don't have a problem elsewhere. Companies like this should NOT be in business, and thankfully the service is so bad that they won't be for long, there is no way they can survive when they are so appallingly bad.2.0 Poor
