Top tips for hiring a car at Bob Hope Airport

  • Located a short distance from Hollywood, Burbank Bob Hope Airport (BUR) serves as your gateway to Los Angeles’ Beverly Hills and the rest of Southern California. A car rental at Burbank Bob Hope Airport will most likely provide you with a convenient way to explore locations, such as Disney Studios, and enjoy panoramic views of the Los Angeles skyscrapers. Not to mention going out shopping and engaging in various outdoor activities.
  • To make your Los Angeles excursion a success in a rented car, you will need to fulfill certain requirements as far as car rentals at Burbank Bob Hope Airport are concerned. First, you will need an insurance policy to cover you and your companions (just in case) while traveling in this part of the United States. You and your additional driver will also need to be at least 21. However, all drivers aged between 21 and 24 must pay an underage surcharge per day in the course of renting the car. Remember to carry with you a major credit or debit card to cater to your car rental expenses and make every transition easy and quick.
  • When returning the rental car, you will drive through Hollywood Way or use Empire Avenue Airport to Avenue B where you will locate the car rental returns at North Hollywood Way. If you return the car after the agreed-upon hours, you’ll have to park it in one of the airport’s designated Rental Return locations. Then you’ll take the car keys to the respective car rental agency’s drop box at the customer service booth along with a signed car rental contract. Some car rental agencies have a full-to-full tank policy, which demands that when you pick up your car with a full tank, you should refill it before you return.
  • Since Burbank Bob Hope Airport is located in a city frequented by tourists, it is recommended that you book your car at least three months in advance. This is because demand for rental cars may go up at peak tourist season, especially in summer. You can also do the last-minute booking online to help you find a less busy day to travel. In this case, Saturdays and mid-week bookings can be a better option for you.
  • Book your car hire at Bob Hope Airport at least 1 day before your trip in order to get a below-average price

This is the third Budget vehicle I've rented that is dirty. It's getting ridiculous. Every surface is dirty. Food, crumbs, spills, a messy windshield. One or two cars before this there was still auction paint on the window.

They had trouble finding the right car for me. At first they gave me a very large SUV that I didn't want. I was going to take it anyway, but the paperwork was wrong, so the final gate guard would not let me drive away. Then a man from Avis fixed the rental and gave me a good intermediate SUV (Mazda CX-5) that worked out great.

Likes: type of vehicle we were given when our class of vehicle was not available. Drop off in Phoenix was very nice. Dislike: For pick up the shuttle we to from LAX to Avis was close to 45 mins to go 2 miles. Our vehicle was not available and were offered a smaller car which we declined. We had to wait 30 mins for the correct car to be delivered. We had to change from Burbank to LAX and were charged an additional $120. Not sure why.

Rented VW Jetta. Got Nissan Altima. I have never driven an Altima before. It has the worst windshield/defrost situation I’ve ever seen. Impossible to keep windows from fogging. Almost got me killed in the hills Thursday and Friday night. Tried it with outside air, circulating air, AC on, heat on, window down. It has to be a flawed design with the windshield. Or the car has a leak somewhere (heater core?). Terrifying driving experience. Surprised there hasn’t been a recall on these things.

Your web site told me that I would be getting a Jeep Compass or similar car from Hertz for a certain price. When I got to Burbank, they Hertz employees had not seen a Jeep Compass come through in months and offered me a Kia--which I could have rented from multiple other car companies for much less than what Hertz was charging me. Super frustrating that I picked Hertz because of their offer, which was totally inaccurate. I won't be using them again:

We rented an electric car, we arrived and we were told that they do not have a car at all. We waited for 5 hours and was finally offered an F150 which is completely opposite of an electric vehicle in terms of gas consumption. They told us that they do not have anything in their lot and if we don’t take it, we won’t have any car. Bad bad planning on their end. Look at their reviews. Pretty much the same issue from their customers.

Fox charged me an extra $ 150.00 with the promise that it would be returned when I returned the car. The car was returned in a better condition than when I picked it up and with a full tank of gas. The still haven't returned the $ 150.00. The car had many scratches on the paint and windows were not clean. The person who was at the rental counter was extremely difficult to understand. Ridiculous! Be aware that this office at the Burbank Airport closes at 9 pm - and offers no option for an after hours pickup. Said if turned back late would charge a dollar per minute. She showed no empathy. No grace period? She was the worst. You need to train your customer service. The rental staff- on pick-up and return- could not have been nicer. But, I reserved a small-sized SUV and was given a Kia Forte with 46,000 miles that had been smoked in heavily during a prior rental. I literally drove with the sunroof open the entire time I had the car to clear the air. I wouldn’t have mentioned this here if the couple in front of me on pick-up night- clearly walk-up customers- were given a new model red mini SUV, then I was told “You can take the small car over there or wait for a long time.” Bigger-picture, it is hard for me to understand how your company brings so much business to these rental car companies, yet we are treated as second-class renters. Thanks!

I DID NOT GET A CAR. !! At least not from National. They told me they had no record of my payment online on their end. I paid ahead with klarna. I will say, there was a manager, FERNANDO, who ran around and called other places to find me a car. I had to ride share to a second location ( different company ( enterprise). I had to rent all over, so basically double paid. I don’t see any refund from klarna as of yet. I have previously rented with kayak and no problem. Just gave the credit card $300 dep. Big headache. No more National. They just kept saying don’t use 3rd party companies. I use Expedia regularly with no problem and have used kayak as well. It makes no sense. Now I need to get the charge off of my klarna account!!!
