Beautiful, light and airy family room (with flat screen TV/Sky) with some of the friendliest staff we have come across. Hotel isnt pretty from the outside but is seconds from the beach and a 10 minute walk into the old town of Alghero. We would recommend this hotel and hope to stay again soon ourselves. Only small gripe, breakfasts are basic but fine.
The hotel was clean and comfortable but not luxurious. The staff especially the reception staff were excellent, helpful and friendly. THe room was spacious with a pleasant shower room and balcony which just about had a view of the sea. The seafront was 30 metres away. Breakfasts were plentiful. Sky TV was available but sometimes unpredictable. Poor soundproofing between rooms.
friendly staff; location of the hotel
very friendly and extremely helpful staff, with excellent english, right in the centre of town, and across from beach.easy walking distance from old city. the walls in the rooms are very thin!!!so you can hear everything going on in next room.
Great location, right by the beach, with a lovely walk to the old city. Very nice breakfast selection The heating/AC unit wasn't very effective with heating (off-season visit).
the staff hospitality charge for motorcycle parking
Friendly and accommodating staff. Wonderful scenery within easy reach.Parking just outside the hotel ideal for my elderly mother. Nothing to do with the hotel but car hire via an internet link to Hertz was unsatisfactory due to the hidden cost of "extra" insurance. The hotel does provide a car hire service (although having payed a huge price I did not enquire as to the cost). People should be warned!
The location was perfect, really close to the beach, few minutes walking to the city center. Silent. Room was really nice and confortable. Clean. TV (loats of chanels), climatisation working well. Everything seems to be renewed in the room. Nice furniture, hairdryer in bathroom. No seaside room, but it is not such a disadvantage, as the other seaside hotels might be really noisy during night (as there is a street between the sea and the hotels close to the sea),
very conveinient, about 15 min walk into town, excellent value for money. not really as you get what you pay for, it is not a 5 star hotel, but for ashort break it is ideal.
Helpful staff spoke good English, walking distance to the town. Good for short stay.
good pool - clean with adequate number of sun loungersalso access to roof was good for sunbathing away from the masses on the beach and for getting views of alghero town rooms very small with very large hallway
Staff very rude
location is the only positive thing about this hotel I would not recommend this hotel as the hotel staff were very unhelpful and unfriendly. The hotel lacked any charm or ambiance. The pool is also very small and beside the main road so it is very noisy and far from relaxing.
Ideal location for the town centre, a nice 15min stroll noisy plumbing, and uncomfortable chairs around swimming pool
View Complained every day about the water (hotel was having a problem with their water system which went on for 5 days), all staff said was for us to run the water for 10 minutes before using. Left the hotel early. We did get some compensation for the conditions but had to argue and haggle for this, to the point where my wife burst into tears. Not impressed at all!!!!! The room was disgusting, the couch was broken, there was mould in the bathroom, the corridor to the room was unbearably hot, smelt like stagment rusty water. It took days for the hotel to fix the lock on the door. I could go on.... in short we had a miserable holiday and would be recomending to our friends never to go there.
Allowed to check in early(10.30am)
Some staff able to understand and speak english. In mid September parking was easy as we had a (cheap) rental car 7 days. Breakfast was basic, but OK, (coffee, juice (from machine), bread (3 types), yougurt, eggs, ham, cheese, simple fruit etc No warm course or other 'fancy') A/C did not work. 'Odd' if it broke down just the day before we arrived. Water 'leaked' from shower, toilet seat not screwed to toilet(!), some bulbs not working. (more or less minor 'end of season problems'?!) Poor/insufficinet lightning for reading books in bed. Quite noisy and heavy loaded street (Via Lido) just outside hotel (appr. 6-8000 cars /24h - including motorcycles etc. 'on ther way into town')
The hotel is very well situated, practically on the beach and a short walk from the town. The only staff we had dealings with were the receptionists, breakfast ladies and cleaning ladies. The receptionists were very friendly, polite and helpful. The breakfast staff were also friendly as were the cleaning staff. We were pleasantly surprised.
across the street from the beach and had a pool also to choose from If taking a taxi to airportt make reservations at least 4 hours prior to leaving. Not fault of hotel, just a lesson learned.
The hotel was spotlessly clean. The breakfast was woefully bad. The coffee defies description. The facilites and upkeep were not what you'd expect. I expected better.
We had a good room with a balcony and good views overlooking the sea with the town in the distance. The pool was beautiful and not too crowded. We were not given a breakdown of the bill and were surpised as ithe cost was higher than we had been quoted by Booking.com. We had handed over our paperwork at the beginning of the holiday with our passports and it was not returned so we were not in a position to query it.
Perfect location - close to the beach (1 min) and 15 min walking to the city centre.A lots of good restaurants ans pubs around.Very clean hotel - it's not modern fashion hotel but the cleanest one that I've ever been. Air conditioning.Very nice swimming pool in the garden Great staff, really friendly and helpful (speak English very well)
Lovely setting (pool-side; cafe garden) and location great for beach The breakfast was ok but not great. (Bread / juice not very fresh).
Near the boulevard and within walking distance (20 min) of the old town Staff lacks of energy and good mood
The friendlieness and helpfulness of the mangement and staff of the hotel, and the quiet, relaxed atmosphere. Not applicable. Nothing I disliked about hotel.
The helpful, friendly attitude of the staff in a small, clean hotel set in a central yet peaceful location. The shower was very cramped.
It's in a great location- just a couple of minutes from the beach and only 20 minutes walk along a nice promenade to reach the old town. It was always clean and tidy and the staff very friendly. It's particularly useful if you're English as the landlady is English and suggested to us lovely places to visit. They even have novels there you can read! No
Hotel was great. Very clean. Helpful, friendly staff.
Nice pool close to the beach short walk to old town Overpriced Room facilities very basic
Most of all I liked the location of the hotel which was directly opposite the beach and just 15 minutes walk to the old town. Suggest the hotel has a shelf as a mini library so that guests may leave or borrow books free of charge.
Staff were pleasant and friendly. Hotel was clean. There was no fridge in the room or bath in the en-suite. Mosquitoes were a significant problem.
Nicely situated, serviceminded staff, excellent swimming pool, clean rooms Rooms a bit too small, only one chair for sitting
I liked the swimming pool area. We had a room with a sea view and the view was excellent. Location excellent and a lovely walk into the old town. The breakfast was very basic and the dining not very enticing. Would recommend this hotel with some reservations.
the proximity to the beach was fantastic, the pool was great also, the room kept very clean the room was a little small for a twin room and the air conditioning needs upgrade
The staff were courteous. The room was and the hotel were very clean. It was across the beach and a 15 minute walk to the city center so it was an ideal location. There was a pool, a restaurant, and a bar in the hotel. AC cost an extra 6 Euro per day. The checkout was very early at 10 am and the staff refused to extend that even by one hour. The beach across the hotel is not the nicest and cleanest of the beaches in the area. The breakfast is basic and mainly includes pastries, cereal, and boiled eggs and could use more variety.
All staff always helpful and friendly. No difficulty finding sunbeds. Water in pool not too cold. Air-con in bedroom good. Some elements of breakfast : Boiled eggs were underboiled, whites of them not cooked enough. The option of totally hard-boiled eggs as well would have been nice. No British sausages available, just frankfurter types. Would have liked to have a refrigerator in bedroom.
it"s not 4 star hotel/
The hotel is nicely situated near the beach just upside the beach street. I think the buffet breakfast was a bit too "thin" - I would reccomend a bit more continental style.
The location was good a lack of any english language tv at all in the room, though it was satellite tv. The entire area had a disagreeable aroma. The prices of drinks and coffees are rather expensive.
Location, area, local amenities. A little over priced compared with other apartments in this area.
Residence is very nice, close to the sea, apartment was big enough for 4 people, fully equiped kitchen, 2 balconies, we had a breakfast on the balcony with direct view on the sea, close to the city center, oposite of the residence is very good restaurant - they make very nice food there and speciality which is 1 meter long pizza:), residence is close to the bus stop - bus goes to and from the airport for the price of1 Euro single journey, supermarket is also very close, we had really very pleasant stay, relaxing weekend, area of the residence is closed and private equiped with the swimming pool, tennis court, very safe place ...
The Location so close to the beach Not a big issue but the complex seems very open ie gates on main street & doors to apt blocks are left open all the time & if you arrive when reception closes it can be a problem as they say a note will be left but you actually have to find the cleaning ladies!
Location is very good, close to the beach and not too far from town.. Les Arenes restaurant next door serves up an excellent pizza and the supermarket is just across the street. The facilities seemed well cleaned & maintained. Spacious apartment. Extremely poor sound insulation between rooms. Very uncomfortable beds. Lots of mosquitoes that ate us up at night. Room cleaning only once per week. 100 Euro deposit required (cash only) on check-in, refunded in cash at check-out. Pool area lies mostly in the shade and the pool was not heated, so the water was very cold (14-15 degrees) at this time of year (first week of October). For what it is (i.e. a budget apartment hotel) it was fine, but our expectations were higher.
great room for the price, balcony with sea view. Good kitchen and ideal for cooking. Great location to beach and just a short walk into town. Friendly reception staff and nice pool.. Wasn't aware we would have to give a 100 euro deposit in cash on arrival when they already had credit card details.
cleanness, close to the beach and the village, efficiency of the staff by car rental, supermarket close by, size of the room, tydiness of the room - in short - we will appreciate to come back. noise from the neighborhood hotel - young guy's having the drunkparty of their life.
The size of the apartments are particularly good and it was near to bars restaurants etc. The cooking and kitchen facilities in the apartment were very poor and everything needs renewing. It was not good enough for 1600 euros a week.
Very comfortable, breakfast excellent lots of choices. Dinner menu was very good.
The staff at the reception. In general everything was ok, and the price was according the service you get. I was at the hotel at the end of October and it was cold during the nights. I miss a better heating system, it was not working properly. I also agree with previous comments about the four stars are too much for this hotel.
it was clean and nice, closed to the beach
Good location and good breakfast buffet included in the price of the room. Hot drinks for breakfast were pretty bad. They should really think of getting a new machine. If you want to use the fridge in the room, they will charge you 15 Euros/week. I understand that the fridge is part of the minibar and not for personal use, however it goes without saying that everybody uses it now and then (not a big deal) Putting this sign in the room about the rental price of the fridge does not give a good impresion.
The bar and the restaurant The rooms lacked soundproofing (noise attenuation) so snoring, noise, and voices from above, beside, and outside were very annoying
Nice, helpful staff, good location breakfast until 9.00 am
Staff was very friendly and helpful. A little bit plain to be a four stars hotel.
the staff were friendly. the location was amazing! one minute from the beach and a lovely 20 min walk along the beach to the old town! good restaurants around aswell and all food in hotel was good. needing to wear swimming hats in pool, and pool busy so maybe they could do with a few more sunbeds. Also on arrival we had 2 twin beds the first night but the next day they were converted into one double.
Nice hotel, at a nice location in a nice city, Lack of possibilities for hanging up beach towels etc in bathroom
very nice staff very friendly and helpful.good location and good food Wi-fi is available just in public areas and you need to pay for it.
Room was very nicely decorated and it was very happy feelings to be in it. The break fast was really really crap , only one type of cereal and one type of fruit, peprony, cheese and tomato for the breakfast, no english tea was available. Staff for the breakfast area was not frindly and very poor english. There is not enough Sun beds around the pool area, Air conditioning in the room was not very good , i had to keep the window open which was more cooler than aircon, my flight was very late in the evening and i had to leave my room at 12 as hotel staff told me that they were fully booked and i have to be puncual. But my wife and i we spend all time in the waiting room and did not see not even one person checked in, not only us there was one another couple from Ireland was in same situation.
location facing the beach it is really handy also the air-conditioning was good. It was called a two roomed apt but there was no door to seperate the rooms. My daughter was expected to sleep on a couch with springs sticking out. after much complaining they gave us a single bed.which was fine. we got a tiny balcony too small for two people
Nice room - cleanliness Menucard - not a gourmet-restaurant
mini refrigerator in the room. tv set in the room is very small, with limited programming choices. sat tv should be a must for this class of hotel. also a functional internet corner should be provided.
The attitude of the staff, particularly the reception desk. Super location. I have no reason to fault the San Marco hotel and have no difficulty in recommending it. Small complaint. When leaving I booked a taxi thorugh the reception. The (female) taxi driver charged €23 to the airport which I thought was very expensive. The hotel should not use this taxi service again.
I liked the whole ambience of the hotel, the staff were very attentive and friendly, the rooms were very comfortable, and I thought the location of the hotel was great as it was right on the beachfront and a nice comfortable walk away from the main shopping and eating area of Alghero. We were upgraded from a Studio to a 1-Bedroom apartment at no extra charge which was a nice bonus. I had no negatives that I can think of about the Hotel.
Room and cleaning staff, breakfast, distance to attractions Pool not open, front-desk man rather rude
The people at the front desk were very friendly and helpsome. The breakfast was not much but satisfactury. Otherwise the hotel was rather dull since it closed down for the season the day we left. This may have been the reason. Overall - the hotel was a OK experience. The bugs/mosquitos and the bed. The bed had only thin sheets as cover and we Scandinavians usually do not like this arrangement very much. But for a week it wasOK.
Proximity to the beach, also within walking distance of old town. Very clean. Rooms, incl bathroom are small with no tea/coffee making facilities. Restaurant was closed.
The excellent location-just across road from lovely beach and 10 minutes walk into old town or 10 minutes the other way to tree lined beach. The room looked out on unattractive residential area. There was an unpleasant odour from the bathroom consistently.
Quiet localisation, helpful staff, parking possibility, pieceful area, close to beach and walking promenade along the harbour Cofort of bed in the room, too short and hard matress
Good location, newly built so very clean and modern, helpful desk staff Breakfast choice was limited
The location in Alghero in a rather quiet area. A nice hotel. Nothing.
The personal touches that made us feel more like friends, staying with friends, rather than just paying guests spending time at a hotel. Absolutely nothing.
Calm, friendly staff, clean comfortable rooms.
Central location Very friendly staff
New excellent hotel. Very good location for visiting old Alghero (15 min interesting walk); 5 min walk to the beautiful beach. Private free parking. Helpfull staff. None.
The staff were very welcoming and helpful. The rooms were immaculate. I loved the colour themes.
Cosy, small, nice hotel. Clean rooms. Intelligent and kind hosts. Good location near the beach, about 15 min walk to the center of Alghero.
location near the beach and town centre a better choice of breakfast and better coffee
Friendly staff but did not speak much English. Nice breakfast. We did not have our room cleaned every day and the toilet rolls were not replaced. The reception was closed part of the day.
good staff aircon heating a bit erratic.
the staff were vey friendly the room was very clean and comfortable did not dislike anything about the hotel but wish there was more of a variety for breakfast
close to the lido beach
Friendly staff; large and clean room; good variety for breakfast (we only stayed here overnight); quiet area; 30mins walking distance to 'Centro Storico' and very close to beach!
It was very reasonable and was just what we were looking for Only thing would say was that it was a bit far out from town but not a major problem
It was relaxed and nicely located. The personel was friendly
the staff and price it was a little noisy but there was 16 girls with us
it is near the beach the bed linen wasnt changed the whole week we were there.
very welcoming, friendly and helpful staff
It´s a very nice hotel with a fair price, good service. If your looking for a small hotel in Alghero, 100 meter from beach, with a tropical garden, than you will be satisfied.
Vthouery friendly staff, though it does not look much from the outside it is a lovely oasis of a hotel once through the gates.
My time with my girlfriend The smell from the bathroom in our room and the fact there was no ironing board/iron or kettle
I stayed there for a 5 days summer holiday. It is an amazing hotel-very friendly staff, very delicious food with reasonable price, 3mins walking to the beach and 15mins to old town center, and clean room and in-time service. Btw, very nice swimming pool If they can provide Wi-Fi, it will be perfect
This is a lovely welcoming hotel. The owners and staff are so kind and helpful.Beautiful pool area and gardens,so relaxing.Great location near beaches and old town.
Relaxed good atmosphere. Friendly staff, very nice garden and swimming pool. Good Restaurant. We had dinner at the pool. Old style (positive meaning) but good maintained and clean
The choice at breakfast was very wide - cereals, numerous types of fresh fruit, scrambled eggs, ham, cheese etc. The fact that the wall at the head of our beds seemed to be almost in the bathroom next door. We christened the guy next door - whom we never saw - ''thunderpee'' because we could hear him urinating long and often, even during the night. Asked in advance for a pool view (based on other reviews) but wasn't given one.
Location close to beach, great staff, and a nice pool area. Only down side is thats its a bit of a walk into Alghero.
Staff are very friendly, pool area nice. Close to beach and 25 minute walk into the town
The staff at the hotel were very friendly. The food was excellent and the service was great, we were made to feel very welcome and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The hotel was ideally located 2 mins from the beach and as it also had a nice outside pool area best of both worlds.
location was excellent. opposite the beach. staff polite. quiet rooms. very clean. nice balcony. breakfast was very poor. the cheapast type of food was provided. no fresh fruit or boiled eggs etc. also staff were polite but they had no interest in providing info about the area etc
The friendliness of the hotel staff and the location
The location of the hotel is good, between the Old Town and the beach and the staff are friendly and very helpful. Our room was very clean, comfortable had air conditioning, and we had a sea view from our balcony. When we stayed in Sept 2008 there was a building site next to the hotel which seemed to spring into life early in the morning, so might be worth checking if works are finished especially if you're a light sleeper. However, we found that this didnt outweigh the good points of the hotel itself.
all the staff were all very freindly and helpful, The location was ideal for the beach.
Nothing The hotel was advertise as new on booking com which is a lie. The place is at least 50 years old and deserves a single star rating. Everything is old and shabby. Bathroom is awful, you can sit on a toilet and wash your feet in a shower at the same time (no joke). Furniture from 1960's. No mini-bar. Worst value for money in my life ever (and we stay in at least 10 hotels per year).
Not Much. Located on very busy road, there was a building site next door. The staff were quite unfriendly, did not put themselves out much & the rooms were very basic.
We spent one week in this hotel and we met with friendly and kindly staff. The location of this hotel is excellent between centre of Alghero and the beeches, direct on promenade. There are many confortable bars and restaurants nearby.
The breakfast had no variety same every day the cornflakes were like rabbit food even a toaster with fresh bread would have been nice it didnt make you want to rush down to eat oue grandson only drank milk woulnt eat anything.
My husband and I have been using this hotel for 7 years now. the staff are very friendly and helpful, and the location is excellent for the beach and walking into the old town, and is about 15 mins from the airport. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.
Location was fantastic
