Overview of Spring Airlines

Originally only flying to domestic destinations across China, Spring Airlines has expanded its international routes to become a major carrier across Southeast Asia. Services are controlled from two operating bases in Shanghai. Among the countries with nonstop flights into China are Malaysia, Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, South Korea and Cambodia.

A key focus of the airline is providing punctual flights between key business destinations. It opened Spring Airlines Japan as a subsidiary to focus on transporting business travelers between the two countries. Making a major statement in the Asian aviation industry, it became the first Chinese airline to create a Japanese subsidiary.

Spring Airlines offers a singular Economy Class, meaning there is no preferential treatment for different passengers. Marketing itself as a low-cost carrier, competitive prices are provided by reducing complimentary services, such as onboard meals and water. All customers are permitted one piece of carry-on baggage weighing up to 7 kg (approximately 15 lb). A SpringPlus fare offers the ability to pick your preferred seat and bring 30 kg (approximately 66 lb) of checked luggage.

Airbus aircraft are exclusively flown. A strong preference is held for narrow-body twin engine jets, such as the A320 family of planes, due to their impressive fuel efficiency and suitability to flying short-to-medium distances. The A320-200 is one of the most commonly flown and can carry roughly 180 passengers in a 3 x 3 cabin configuration. The fleet is decorated with a simple white and green color scheme that features the Spring Airline’s logo in yellow on the tail.
