Our stay at the Fairmont Singapore was wonderful and came at the end of a long first-time excursion to Southeast Asia. Pros (+) Hotel attached to both Raffles city mall and City Mall metro station. Unbelievably convenient where transit station is steps away from the hotel and you don’t need to even go outside if its raining (saved my wife from having her hair ruined which in turn is a life save for me!). Pros (+) I had a suite on the 25 floor, large, very comfortable, great view, if a little dated furnishings (e.g. couch, carpets, etc.). The best, though, is the staff, in particular housekeeping. After they’re through with your room, you can eat off the floor (well, not off those carpets ... but still!).
Cons (-) The WIFI’s Internet access. It’s spotty, to say the least, and THAT, to me, makes an enormous difference. Even in the Executive Lounge on the 23rd floor, half the room, to the left of elevators and in the conference room ... excellent ... the other half ... forget it, had to use Singtel. Cons (-) Too many "sorry" replies instead of solutions for numerous issues encountered during the stay. 5 star hotel brand delivering to 3- or 4- star service levels. I rave about the Fairmont Vancouver airport; Singapore Fairmont doesn't come close to meeting the perceived brand value.
