Overview of Shanghai Airlines

Based and headquartered in China, Shanghai Airlines operates flights to many different countries, primarily located in Asia. Depending on where you would like to visit, there is a selection of popular locations for you to choose from, including South Korea, Thailand, Vietnam, and Indonesia.

In order to diversify its flight paths, this airline has codeshare agreements with several other airlines, including China Airlines, Hong Kong Airlines, and Korean Air. It is also a subsidiary of China Eastern Airlines, meaning that the two airlines share some planes and employees. Additionally, the company is an affiliate member of SkyTeam, an air alliance that is known for being one of the largest airline groups in the world.

When you are flying with Shanghai Airlines, you are able to pick from two primary travel classes, which are Economy and Business. With an Economy ticket, you will be given drinks, snacks, and a hot meal depending on how long your flight is. If you are flying in Business Class, you will be given complimentary alcoholic drinks as well as a seat that provides additional legroom.

Shanghai Airlines operates a fleet of over 100 planes, all of which are either Airbus, Boeing, or Comac. Known as the most frequently used aircraft by the company, the Boeing 737-800 can fit over 160 passengers and is best suited for medium-range flights. The Airbus A330-300 is meant for long-haul flights, as it can fit up to 300 passengers and has a large Business class section. For particularly short travels, the Boeing 737-700 is generally the plane of choice as it fits 140 travelers.
