9.2 Excellent
Pros: Great room, comfortable and clean
Cons: Location could be better
6.0 Good
Pros: Overall Clean hotel and efficient and pleasant staff. Probably a good enough hotel for business guests on a one night stopover etc but not as an introduction to San Sebastián, however it was our fault for choosing this one based on the hotel description. Bus stop located outside the hotel is very useful for going into town (no’s 5 & 25) , it takes 7-10 mins depending on where you’re going . Buy a bus card (9-12trips) that you can share. Alternatively pay (€1.80 single journey)
Cons: The Room being described as “superior” when it was a basic “double room” with balcony . The breakfast was NOT a 4star quality , choice of food or location .
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Location a bit unfortunate next to main road
Cons: Great breakfast And very nice rooms!
9.0 Excellent

Pros: Good location that was easy to drive to. Nice walk in to town. Comfortable bed and quiet room. Very clean and modern.
Cons: Pillows were odd - one square shaped and one very long and thin.
5.4 Okay
Pros: Clean room and spaces.
Cons: The taste of the hotel is very particular. No US plug. So if you bring a shaver, you are in trouble. The hotel directory in the room was not coherent. It was written the gym was openned untill 10pm and when you arrive their, it was open only untill 9 pm. The room door didn’t close totally so I had to make sure it would close behind me. In order to access to the wifi, I had to proceed to certain pages that the receptionist didn’t give at check-in. NO COMPLIMENTARY WATER. I’ve been to many other places with better amenities and at least a welcoming water.

Cons: The fact that is costs over €18 to park there and there were so many spaces. I had to jump out of the car to find out how to access the car park, easy when you know how. Also €18 per person for breakfast is expensive as there is not a lot of choice and it is right next to the side where the general public can enter and eat.
9.1 Excellent
Pros: Decor Spacious clean rooms A/C Access to a cafe Availability of a restaurant Closeness of parking (under the building)
Cons: N/A

9.1 Excellent
Pros: The rooms are gorgeous and plenty big for European style hotels. The staff was very helpful and as a bonus they spoke many languages.
Cons: I requested a king size bed when I first booked and got a room with two beds pushed together with individual sheeting (not conducive for snuggling). My shower door was only a half door so there was an ocean in the bathroom after we were finished. The last night we tried to sleep earlier so we could leave early the next day but it seemed there was a comedy club right above us until around 2 AM.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Amenities eg: room service, bike hire. Friendly welcoming staff.
Cons: A bit far from the main areas near beach and old town however close to sporting area which I liked.

8.0 Excellent
Pros: Same barman since 1990! And he remembered us from a number of visits - the previous one being some five years ago!
Cons: The bar decor has been updated with disastrous results.
8.0 Excellent
Cons: The hotel is a bit far away from any of the tourist attractions and restaurants. It is amid a very busy intersection of town making it convenient to get to if you are driving. The downside is the traffic noise is incredibly loud all night long.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Reception staff could not have been more friendly and more helpful. They should be highly appreciated as they made the hotel exceptional rather than just excellent! Rooms were of nice size, clean and the bed was extremely comfortable. Barman in the Piano Bar was superb too. Only complaint / constructive comment really was that the plastic furniture cheapened the Piano Bar considerably. If the furniture was more like eg soft sofas we would have stayed for more than one drink. Other than that we were all more than impressed with the hotel. Thank you all!!
Cons: Sorry see above.
Overview Reviews
Since it opened in 1912, Hotel Maria Cristina, a Luxury Collection Hotel has been intimately linked to the history and cultural life of San Sebastian. In the late 19th century the seaside town on the southern point of the Bay of Biscay became a favorite destination for royalty and aristocrats who came to enjoy the sunshine and newly recognized therapeutic properties of sea bathing. A traditional afternoon stroll along the boardwalk offered an opportunity to see and be seen while the many cafés and open-air terraces were filled with high society. San Sebastian had passed from being a sleepy fishing village into a thriving cosmopolitan town requiring luxurious, modern facilities to meet the demands of its discerning guests. The majestic design of the hotel by architect Charles Mewes, the man responsible for the Ritz in Madrid and Paris, combined with the property’s enviable river setting and sea views, resulted in it immediately becoming the favored accommodation for international high society.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Awesome room, with a huge bed. Very comfortable and clean.
9.0 Excellent
Cons: no coffee or tea making facility in room
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Great location
Cons: No Coffee machines in the rooms.
6.7 Good
Pros: The location of the hotel was perfect downtown and the luxury of the hotel.
Cons: A few people of the staff were not polite and we had to take our breakfast at the room because of the corona virus. Everything in the hotel was closed, like the bar, restaurant, no bike rental allowed. We didn’t even get a voucher for a next stay because of the limited services available.
7.0 Good
Pros: Breakfast was great but expensive. Room was huge, bed v comfy and sheets gorgeous. Little 5 star touches were all there the only thing that really let it down were a couple of the staff and when you're paying that sort of money it should be perfection!
Cons: Bar man was rude, we couldn't see anywhere to sit in the immediate area and when we found a table just alongside he refused to serve us there and just shrugged at me when I said where else would you suggest we sit! Also reception staff where efficient but not friendly.

8.0 Excellent
Pros: The location
Cons: 1. It is necessary to provide the clear indication how to reach the hotel by car. GPS shows a wrong way. I spent 30 min trying to get. 2. The breakfast is nice but VERY expensive. 3. There was works under way to refurbish - and it was not very good. Also there was a big construction nearby the hotel so the view was far from good.

Pros: Seaview room for €100/night was fabulous. Hotel was quiet, room temperature was very comfortable. Very good breakfast. Wi-fi worked very well.
Cons: Double bed is a bit small and not so comfortable. Unfortunate that there is no better option at this hotel. Arriving by car is a bit tricky, as the temporary parking for checkin is across the road, but parking underground is not too far away.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Comfortable bed, excellent location and stunning view from the balcony. The beach is literally one minute from the hotel, plenty of bars and restaurants nearby, about 12-15 minutes walk to the train/bus station

Pros: The view from our room on the 6th floor was absolutely spectacular! We had a magnificent 180 degree view of the amazing Concha Beach and promenade. We also had a lovely little balcony on which to enjoy the vista. The room furnishings were good and having easy access to an excellent bar and cafe was a bonus. The young waitress, Leira (?) was so helpful and efficient. We were always happy to see her working when we visited the bar. The hotel is also within easy walking distance to the centre of this beautiful city. We will certainly return.

Cons: Not that didn’t like but will point out the same Nile room is approx. 6ft x 6ft, no exaggeration! However was clean and very good value for the location. Would book it again but but just be aware!

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very solid and comfortable hotel. Rooms with safety box, good Wi-Fi, and minibar. The decoration of the rooms very modern and we had a balcony with a small table and two chairs, to sit and relax with the view of a lovely part of the city. It is very close to Ondarreta Beach, which by the way is huge and stunning! It has a fitness center that we did not use. We didn't have breakfast because of our tight schedule. Good beds and pillows. I recommend this hotel.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Hotel was very clean and staff very helpful
Cons: Building work made for a very early wake up call! Swimming pool was not in use, location of hotel was a long walk into town and taxis were around 10€ each way
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The hotel has a great team here and they do anything to make your stay as great as it can be. We had a small problem with our room and we were moved hassle free to a better room. You can easily get around to places like the beach and the old town. Just be prepared to do a good walk or use local transport.
Cons: Nothing to really dislike. There were renovations going on so this was a slight inconvenience when we wanted a bit of quiet time during the day but we just made the most of heading into San Sebastián and the beach.
8.5 Excellent
Pros: Buffet breakfast was excellent quality and choice. Bathrooms had al toiletries and hair dryer Iron & Ironing board in the room
Cons: Just a little out of the city, but there is a bus stop outside the hotel to get into the centre, also it is a nice walk along the promenade for those who enjoy it

Pros: Great hotel fabulous location x
Cons: The room was very very warm as aircon was broken. It was too late to change rooms when we realised. The location is perfect for bars and restaurants but couldn’t leave window open all night for air as it was noisy.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Location
Cons: No Air Con
7.0 Good
Pros: Good location!
Cons: Quite overpriced, including the parking (€32 for 1 night!) Some parts look a little tired (elevator etc).
8.0 Excellent
Pros: location
Cons: lighting in room very poor does not take into account the older couples ,we need lots of light
7.1 Good
Pros: Location and standard double.
Cons: Standard twin room was for disabled and much reduced space inside. This room was 3* at best.
7.1 Good
Pros: I was a bit taken aback when I saw the exterior of the hotel, which is somewhat shoddy. But was pleasantly surprised when I entered the hotel. The lobby and reception area is lovely. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, the furniture could do with an upgrade. Our bathroom window had a huge draft and because the weather was terribly windy and wet it made it quite cold. But the location really is the key to this hotel. It’s just two minutes from the beach and the city centre and is in a quiet part of town.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: good staff and excellent location
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The location of the hotel is great and the parking was an added bonus. We opted to include breakfast which was also very good. All the staff were very friendly and helpful especially the check-in staff when we arrived.
Cons: The only thing about our room was that it was too warm for us,, even with the Air-conditioning on. We opened the window which cooled the room, but it did get noisy in the morning
